You're My Slave, Liam.

"Do you have any idea how much I got it? It's a Venezuelan singular X series, and it's worth more than your entire family's legacy and here you are telling me that you didn't move it, or better still, you didn't see it?" Charlotte yelled in a scary and yet insulting tone towards Mia, the house help who came around from time to time to clean the house.

Mia had only worked two weeks, a few days longer than the past three house helps she'd employed. Liam, who was terrified about Charlotte's furious shout, couldn't move out of his bed, but just kept his eyes open as he heard all the drama unfold.

"You're a thief, too, aren't you?" Charlotte screamed into the ears of the fidgeting and sweating mid-aged Mia who trembled like she had a fever.

"I didn't see it, ma. I can't do that to you…" Mia said, breaking down into ugly tears as her two hands which she'd placed on her rosary were shaking uncontrollably.

"Not only are you a slave of no value, you're also a thief, and good work with the theatrics. Could have had me fooled, you know." Charlotte replied with a sinister smile and a devilish glare.

"She doesn't deserve this." Liam thought to himself as he felt pity for Mia who was at the receiving end of Charlotte's arrogant bullying. Unable to take any more of the pain he felt, he got out of his bed and his room and headed to Charlotte's where the action was going down.

"It's okay, Mia. I believe you. Breathe." Liam said to Mia who was sweating, crying and trembling terribly in the front of Charlotte who was more concerned about the price of the one earring than Mia's genuine innocence.

"What did you say? Are you really butting your half- achieved life into this? Oh, wait. This makes sense. You are in on this with her. You actually planned this over the weekend, right?" Charlotte said, shifting her gaze to Liam who was by the door, and nodded her head as though she was adding the pieces of a puzzle intellectually.

"What? Are you accusing me of stealing from you?" Liam asked, embarrassed by her words and even more furious she uttered it with all confidence.

"Stealing has never been above you. It runs in your family, so it's no accident you picked it up right where your father left it, uhn." Charlotte said sternly as though she was trying to pull his last nerve of patience.

"Uuunnhh." Liam scoffed, full of rage and disgust towards this demon that stood in front of him as he looked at Mia who was wearing a face of surprise and guilt for dragging Liam into this zone of insults.

Mia had always considered their marriage unusual, but not this way.

Charlotte didn't deserve this guy or any good guy. She deserved a beast like herself." Mia thought to herself while she stared helplessly between the ground and her saviour's face.

"How much is the earring?" Liam asked Charlotte with all courtesy and a voice free of rage.

Charlotte was expecting that question, but she'd hoped he'd lace his words with rage, anger or maybe even attempt to hit her.

"Even if I told you, you can't afford it over a hundred lifetimes." Charlotte said with all audacity behind her lips.

"Please, how much is it? Let her go. I'll pay, no matter how long I'd have to." Liam said with a tone of compassion as he looked at the innocent face of the trembling Mia.

"It's a delicately designed Venezuelan Singular X series, and of course, it was the only one ever made. You see why you can't even buy it even if you tried? You know what I'll do instead? I'll let you and this lowlife take that earring and make your disgusting lives a little better. Regarding the money, you need it more than I do." Charlotte said with a disdainful voice that was her way of showing benevolence.

"All right. Thank you. Let's go, Mia." Liam said as he held on to Mia's hands and led her out of the room into the living room where he made her sit down while he ran to get her a cup of water for relief from the kitchen.

"Thank you… for believing me." Mia said with innocent teary eyes as she sniffled.

"You didn't do it, Mia. I couldn't bear to see you treated that way." Liam said as he handed the cup of water to her.

"What is she still doing in my house? Get your filthy life out of my house right now." Charlotte yelled as she stepped into the living room to see this heart rendering moment between them both.

Mia, in a rush, returned the cup of water back to Liam and headed out of the house as though a wild beast had chased her out.
