You walked into the school, scanning the area for Marc. You spotted him at the staircase, per usual. You walked over to him and took the spot next to him.

"H-hey, Marc." Said boy looked up to meet your gaze. A blush spread through your cheeks.

"H-hey, (Y/n). What's up?" He closed his journal and gave you his full attention. You squirmed under his gaze.

"N-nothing much. Are you going to the a-art room? Nathaniel still needs a writer." You scolded yourself for stuttering so much. Marc rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

"I-I don't think I'm cut out for all that. What if he doesn't like my work? I-I'll have to switch schools! I won't be able to show my face!" You giggled at how cute he was. "Well, if he doesn't, then that's his loss, right?"

Marc averted his gaze. "I guess you're right." You smiled.

"S-so what are we waiting for?"

You stood in the art room, enjoying the calm and quiet atmosphere. It was just you, Marc, Nathaniel, and Alix. Everyone was doing their own thing.

You steadily worked on your painting, stepping back to admire what you had so far. You dipped your brush into the clean water and went back to work. You could hear Marc speaking with Nathaniel behind you.

"That sounds like a great idea!" Nathaniel commented. You imagined Marc getting flustered. "Y-you really think so?"

They conversed while you finished your picture. You smiled at the masterpiece. This was your best work yet.

You looked at the time. It was five minutes till class started. Maybe you should go ahead and clean up.

Behind you you could hear Nathaniel and Marc whispering to each other. You were curious, but knew that it wasn't any of your business. So you went about your business and cleaned up.

You were in the art room again, working on another painting. Though this time it felt like there was something missing. You couldn't quite put your finger on it.

"H-hey, (Y/n)."

You turned to see Marc standing there with a deep blush spread across his cheeks. He refused to look you in the eyes. "Y-yes, Marc?"

The male handed you a book. "H-here..." You looked at it and flipped to the first page.

"In dedication to the greatest person ever, (Y/n) (L/n)," It read. You blushed. You looked up at Marc.

"W-what-" "Turn to t-the next page," he cut you off. You did as told and flipped the page.

It continued. "I love you, (Y/n)." You read over the words.

Flipping over to the next page, you found a comic of two imdividuals. After reading it your cheeks were flushed. "M-Marc?"

You looked back up at your crush. He had red cheeks and a hopeful smile on his face. "I-I love you, (Y/n). I have since we were little. Please, w-will you be my girlfriend?"

You felt your heart skip a beat. You almost forgot to speak. You stared wide-eyed at him for a moment.

"Y-yes!" You shouted. You wrapped your arms around Marc, startling him. Marc didn't expect you to actually accept his confession!

Marc wrapped his arms around your form and smiled. You liked him back. He was so happy.

"I love you, (Y/n)."

But somehow that statement didn't feel right with you...

You gathered your things up and exited the classroom. You saw Marc waiting for you ahead. You smiled.

Marc was the perfect boyfriend. He was sweet, caring, a gentleman, the whole package. "Ready?" He asked as he took your bag.

"Ready," you said. You exited the school with Marc's hand clasped with yours. And thus you were on your way to the music studio.

"Well, we're here. I'll see you tomorrow, Marc. Thanks for walking with me," you said, giving your boyfriend a hug. Marc smiled and hugged back.

"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow, (Y/n)."

He handed you your bag and started off. He turned back and waved. "Love you," he said.

You only smiled, thinking about his words. When he turned away your smile faltered. Those words just didn't settle right with you.

It's not that you didn't appreciate his confessions and hugs. It just made you uncomfortable. It had been years since you had heard those words, and as much as you wanted to, you couldn't bring yourself to say them to Marc.

You just weren't ready to say that to him.

You felt a tear cascade down your face. You almost forgot you were at the studio until you heard a round of applause. You gasped.

The staff stood outside with tears in their eyes. You suddenly felt nervous and exposed. Had they heard all of that?

You thought you were alone! "That was amazing, (Y/n)," the boss said. You blushed and shrunk down in your seat.

"Is that why you never said I love you?"

Your eyes widened. Marc appeared from the crowd. Tears brimmed in his eyes.

"M-Marc, it's not-" "No, I understand. I should've realized that you wouldn't be comfortable with sharing your feelings like that. I'm sorry. I just care about you so much that I feel the need to express it every time I see you." You looked down.

"I really care about you, Marc. I'm just not ready to fully express how much yet." You walked out of the recording room and up to Marc. "You mean the world to me, Marc. But it's difficult for me to express my true feelings. That's why I sing and draw."

Marc took your hands. "I know. That's why I wrote that book. I didn't know how to tell you." Your eyes glossed over. You wrapped your arms tightly around him.

"Thank you, Marc. I don't know what I did to deserve you."

"And I, you, (Y/n)..."

(A/n)- Sorry if the ending was kind of abrupt or sudden. I didn't want it to drag out. But I hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for reading! Bye for now!
