Meeting The Mayor

It's a joint patrol night, so Ladybug and I are swinging through the streets, looking for an akuma or anything else.

I'm just trying to hurry so I can get to y/n's to make sure she's alright, from the Louve incident earlier.

As we are passing the Bourgeois hotel we hear a voice I know all too well calling to us.

"Ladybug!! Cat Noir! Come here please!"

Chloe. The Mayor's daughter and supposedly Ladybug's #1 fan.

Even though I think that title belongs to me.

Or Alya even.

I glance over at Ladybug to see her roll her eyes.

I stifle a laugh and raise my eyebrow, a silent questioning of whether to go or not. Even though I don't want to.

She nods so we change our direction and go and land on the balcony.

"Ladybug! And Cat Noir. I'm so glad you came!"

"You were literally calling us." I hear Ladybug mutter and I snort trying to stifle a laugh.

"Uhm, are you ok?" Chloe snaps

"I'm fine." I reply.

"Whatever. Anyway, my daddy needs to ask you something!"

Chloe drags us into her room and we see the Mayor sitting on the couch.

Once he sees us he stands and begins towards us until we meet in the middle of the room.

"Ah, Ladybug and Cat Noir! I'm so glad Chloe was able to catch you! We have a favor to ask of you! But first, I want to personally thank you two, especially you, Cat Noir, for keeping the Mona Lisa safe earlier today!"

He sounds so peppy, it's kind of annoying.

"It was nothing. And what would that favor be?" I ask him.

"Well, as you know, Halloween is coming up soon, and Chloe had the idea of having an annual Halloween Dance! And we were wondering if you two would be the special guests!"

He smiles widely at us, while Chloe has a hopeful expression.

Ladybug has a look of disbelief, I know how she feels about these things.

"Um, we'll have to talk about it, one moment." I say before Ladybug can blow up at them.

I put my hand on her shoulder and gently pull her aside.

"Of course we're not being their special guests! We are here to protect Paris, not party!" she furiously whispers to me.

"I know, I know. But think about it, parties usually cause some kind of akuma, so maybe we should? And Chloe would probably get akumatized if we didn't agree."

She contemplates this, then sighs.

"I guess you're right. But are you sure you want to? I think you just want an excuse to ask me to dance." she deadpans while crossing her arms.

That thought had occurred to me, but I really do mean the thing about akumas.

"No, I just think it'd be easier to be in there already, instead of having tons of damage done before we get there, if there is an akuma."

"Fine. We'll do it. But I don't want to stay long!"

"Agreed."

We walk over to them and Ladybug says, "Fine. We'll come to your party, but we're most likely not staying the whole time."

"Wonderful! I'll make the arrangements!" Mayor Bourgeois claps and then quickly walks out the door, then sticks his head back in and reminds us to not tell anyone yet, as he'll announce it tomorrow.

"Thank you Ladybug! This'll be an excellent party! Ooh! I can't wait to ask Adrikins to be my date! He'll say yes for sure!"

I sarcastically think to myself.

"Ok, if that's all, we'll be leaving now. Let's go m'lady."

Ladybug and I walk out the door and swing to the next rooftop.

"Ugh. I can't believe we're doing this." Ladybug groans.

"Yeah yeah, but hopefully we'll have a little fun?"

"Doubt it. Let's just finish patrol so I can go to bed."

I laugh and follow her off the rooftop as we finish up and say goodbye, then I head off to y/n's.

I finally land on the top of her house and see her on the balcony, wrapped in a blanket looking at the Eiffel Tower.

I quietly get on the balcony and sneak up behind her.

"Boo!" I whisper in her ear.

"AHH! She screams and sucker punches me in the gut.

I double over, the wind knocked out of me.

"Ok, hint taken. I won't sneak up on you again." I rasp out.

"Oh! Cat! I'm so sorry! You scared me!" her hands fly to her mouth in a horrified manner.

"It's ok, I'm fine." I stand up straight again and smile.

"Still, I'm sorry." She says sheepishly.

"Don't worry about it, I've had worse," I say with a small chuckle.

"So I've heard." She says, and I remember how she reacted when I got kicked in the stomach while fighting Round Trip.

"So, are you ok? From earlier?" I quickly change the subject.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Maybe a bruise or two, but nothing major. Thanks to you." she says with a small smile.

"I didn't do that much..." I say, rubbing the back of my neck.

"Dude. You saved me and what, nine? Other people?"

I shuffle my foot and say "It's just part of the job. Besides, I told you to text me if you ever needed me, you did, and I came. Just like I said. Right?"

"Right. So thanks, for keeping your word."

"Of course!"

We fall into a comfortable silence and she looks at the Eiffel Tower again.

"Have you been back? Since I took you?" I ask her, she seemed to really enjoy it then.

"Just once, in the daytime."

"You wanna go? Now?"

"Sure! If you don't mind, I mean."

"Of course I don't! Let's go!" I hold my hand out to her and she takes it, and just like before I pick her up and jump off the balcony.

This time she can keep her eyes open, but just as a squint.

When we get to the top of the Tower I set her down and she goes over to the railing and looks out in wonder.
