Catvalry

As you were sitting on the floor, surrounded by other hostages, you noticed movement from behind one of the nearest displays.

You look over and see Cat Noir!

He must have been able to get in, even with the bombs around.

Suddenly you're hopeful of everything being ok.

You continue looking at him, trying to catch his eye, when he finally looks over to you.

He raises a finger to his lips, signaling for you to not let anyone else know he's there.

You give a slight nod and look away, but keep darting your eyes back to him.

Suddenly you hear a crash coming from near where Cat is hiding.

Surely he wouldn't be careless enough to make such a loud noise?

"What was that? Go check it out!" The man who seems to be the boss nods in the direction the crash came from.

One of the felons walk over there, then seems to fall to the floor.

Or that's what it sounded like anyway.

"Huh? Go check on him, Jeff."

"You got it, boss."

The guy named Jeff walks over then it sounds like he falls over too.

"What in the world?" The boss guy is clearly confused.

Cat must have knocked the guys out, then probably locked them up in a closet or something.

"Ugh! Incompetent idiots! I'll stay here and watch them," he nods towards you and the other hostages, "And you go see what they've done."

"Yes, sir."

The last of the henchmen goes over, and it takes a little longer this time, but you eventually hear the thud of him falling.

It's much too heavy to be Cat, thankfully.

Then suddenly Cat Noir steps out.

"I've taken out all your goons, now give up and release these people!"

The boss laughs and says, "What? The police were too scared so they had to send in the resident super hero? Who can't be much older than 12!"

"It doesn't matter how old I am, I can still take you out. And I volunteered to come in, thank you."

"Yeah whatever. I don't care why you're here, all that matters is I get what I came for." he then gestures to the famous Mona Lisa.

"Oh no. You are not taking  the most valuable art piece here!"

"Watch me."

Cat walks over and tries to grab the man, but he dodges.

Then the boss grabs the hostage nearest to him, which happens to be you.

When he grabs y/n my heart stops.

He shoves her in front of himself then pulls out a gun.

"No! Let her go! " I yell at him but he just laughs.

"I'll only let her go, if you stand by and let me get the painting."

I'm tempted to do it, but I hope I'll be able to save y/n, and the portrait.

"Just let the girl go, and then we'll talk."

"No, no, I think she'll be fine to stay here while we talk."

"No, she won't. Release her!"

"Hm. I might. If you let me have the painting."

is what I want to say, but that's not what my power is for.

No matter how badly I want to.

"Just let me have y/n."

He gets a startled look and says "Oh? Do you know this girl?"

Now I've done it. I've made it even worse for y/n, this is exactly why I can't let Hawkmoth know about our friendship, or he'll do the same thing.

But worse.

This is just some petty criminal who was able to get a big idea.

But Hawkmoth isn't like this.

He could do more damage.

Much more.

"Um, what's it matter if he knows me? Just let go!" y/n speaks up, which is not something I've heard of happening in a hostage situation.

Not that I've ever been in one before, but I've seen movies.

"It matters, because he'll pay a bigger price." The criminal sneers to y/n.

I stick out my hand and say, "Look. It doesn't matter, just give me the girl!"

He looks down at my hand and sees my ring.

"Hey, isn't that the thing ol Hawkmoth wants? Hm, I wonder what he'd pay to get it. I could end up with a lot more than expected from this heist."

Great. Now he wants my miraculous as well.

"Listen dude, the only thing you're getting is jail time! Now, hand. Over. Y/n." I've already made it known that we know each other. No use in continuously saying 'the girl'.

"Nah."

"You can't just say 'nah'."

"I just did."

Suddenly, the perfect idea hits me.

"Ok, look. If you give me y/n, I'll try to keep your jail time at just a year or so."

"Ha! No way!"

The guy keeps talking and I look at y/n, and when she looks back to me, I make a small jabbing motion with my elbow, then I tap my foot, and she nods slightly.

"Now, what's it gonna be, the painting and maybe the ring, or the girl? Come on, you don't want to risk your girlfriend here over a measly painting, do you?"

I can tell y/n's cheeks turn a light pink, and mine probably mirror hers.

I don't bother to correct him, and nod to y/n.

"Ok, ok, I'll let you have the painting, and my ring, but just let her go."

Y/n stares at me, shocked, and I give her a look that says "trust me"

She just shrugs as best as she can.

I walk toward the guy and put two fingers on my ring.

"I'll let you have them, just let her go."

"That's more like it!"

I start sliding my ring off and y/n looks panicked.

I'm right in front of him now and say, "Ok, now let her go."

"No way. Give me that ring first!"

"Nah. Now, y/n!"

I can tell she has to think for a second, but then she remembers.

The guy looks super confused, but only for a few seconds, because his face soon contorts into pain.

Y/n just jammed him in the ribs with her elbow, and stepped on his foot, making him drop his arm and hobble back and she runs to me, I give her a quick hug, cutting the rope binding her wrists with my claws as I do so, then push her behind me.
