Chapter 17: Three words

Alya fell asleep after 4 hours of studying, for me, I couldn't sleep. Alya brought something into my tutoring lesson that wasn't relevant.

I decided to sleep on the floor since Alya was one of those people who kick everything near them, poor Nino if they were the ones to get our room. He would wake up with something broken everyday.

What she said to me, I knew she didn't intentionally didn't need to bring it up, and more of a way to avoid studying but, what if just over thinking?

Adrien was a player, of course he wouldn't be afraid to break girls hearts, maybe even boys too, if he swinged that way. He was bad, and he wasn't afraid to show it. So why did I think he would make an exception for I wasn't special, I didn't lead some double life where he's in love with that side of me, I was a nobody.

I was the girl who just stood up with Chloe and Adrien's Fanclub BS, I am a generally like person throughout my boarding school, I was just a student who attended this boarding school, so why would I think I was a special somebody when I'm a casual nobody?

Besides it's not like Adrien is in love with me, right?

My eyes began to pinch me with tears, I wasn't going to cry today, or ever. I made myself a promise and I won't break it. I pushed myself up when I heard my phone ring.

The sound of the faint song flowed through my ears, it was followed by faint light beaming towards the ceiling. Quickly I pulled the charger off and placed it next to my ear;

"

My mind went blank when I heard his voice it sounded kind of raspy and almost husky to me, my mind rebooted and responded

"Y-yeah?"

" His voice was barely a whisper, but on how quiet the night is I was able to ear it above Alya's light snoring.

"You shouldn't be, I was just over reacting. I didn't mean to make it into a big deal or anything, it was just my feelings going everywhere alright? Besides I'm not a special someone"

Silence flooded through the line, I waited for a while before I heard light snores coming through the line, I'm about to press end call before I hear his quiet voice,

"Why would I be Adrien?"

I roll my eyes at the nickname, at times when he said those sweet nicknames, my belly would always dance around like it's doing some weird ass ballet.

"Sure sure my knight in shining armour, is this what you wanted to call for? Because I really need some sleep you know," I reply in a sarcastic tone.

A light chuckle was heard from the other side of the line, I was waiting for some kind equally sarcastic but playful reply, but instead I heard one of the most devastating things.

It's like a rejection, you hope for something, and you either get it or get hit with a truck of reality and pain.

My eyes felt damp, and soon I felt something warm slowly drop from my cheek and onto my blanket, my body went numb just like that. I felt pain hurling in my chest as if it was banging on my chest to get out.

He loves someone else, and I was so stupid to think that it was me.

But it's what love does to you. It's like giving someone a toy gun and aiming it at your heart, when you have a crush, you give them bullets of love and affection hoping they will give you love in return.

They either do, or they give you your bullets of love through a gun.

Of course, it's a toy gun with foam bullets, but nowadays nerf guns and their foam bullets sting, but not for long.

It's a way I think about crushes, but it's different in relationships.

My voice was croaky, but I had to give an answer, I cleared my throat and replied, "Well, if you want to tell her, then just tell her. If you wait t-then by the time you tell them they already love someone else."

My words that came out of my mouth felt so true, in a way it was like a stab to the heart.

I heard Adrien hum in response, "

"There are multiple ways to make a girl feel special, but it depends on them for example, I'm just a simple girl, if a guy like Nathenial or something came up to me and confessed to me, or just told me I love you then I'd feel special in some way. That method is boring but it's my personal preference"

When I finished my short paragraph I heard Adrien growl lowly and mumble something, it was very faint but i felt like he said '

"

Without hesitation, I repeated the first word before gasping quietly on what he meant.

Heat zoomed to my cheeks, making my stomach feel wheezy inside, my heart started beating 140 km per hour. Is this some kind of prank? Does he want me to see Jesus?

"Adri- I- ah- uh-" all I could do was stutter, I couldn't say a word, and I was probably swearing in some forgotten language called 'Marinette can't speak gibberish'

I could practically hear his smirk before saying 3 words that made go sky high.

3 words that every girl is dying to hear from him, but he said them to me instead.
