"Now that everyone has settled in, let us talk about the important matter first." After saying that the lord looked at the elven king. Feeling the gaze, the elven king stiffed in his chair and spoke;
"There was an attack on the far side of the kingdom. wiped an entire troop of scouts. No one saw anyone crossing the sea. The worst part is they didn't know what have them killed. They were hunted. One by one. That last of them ran through the forest thinking she would have advantage on the forest from whatever it is chasing her. But that didn't workout as she was also hunted down on her own turf."
Many emotions could be seen from his face. Anger, fear, loath…
"How do you know about it. Isn't Elklain magically distorted area. Video recordings won't work there. Right?" The dwarven king solemnly asked seeing the elven king's sad look.
"A letter. Before the last scout was killed, she wrote a letter while hiding behind a bush or a tree. Since the daily report wasn't submitted, we sent someone there. They found twisted and morbid bodies of the troop. Trails were found of someone running. When followed he found the letter."
"Do you have the letter with you?" the lord asked.
"Here."
One of the elven advisors quickly produced a letter from his dimensional ring and handed it to one of the lord's advisors. Which was accepted by the advisor before presenting it to the lord himself. The lord graciously opened the letter before reading it. He handed the letter to the dwarven king who in turn handed it to the other two representatives after reading it.
There were many emotions on each of the representatives face after reading the letter. They were in clear disbelief after reading the letter. The content was that much gruesome and brutal.
"What about the last scout?" asked the orc chief.
"Her body was recovered. She was mutilated and skinned..." The elven king paused before saying the morbid reality.
"…Alive."
"Oh shit! Who will do such a cruel act?" King Conrad said in disbelief.
"Who else but them." The dwarven king spoke gritting his teeth.
"Braharis…" lord said calmly. "Have you tracked down the culprit?"
"No. We have searched the entire forest. There wasn't anyone there. Nothing sort of anything was left behind for pin pointing the 'thing.' There weren't even any foot prints or even any mana signature. We don't even know how they even came to my kingdom." Elven king's voice gradually increased as his anger was boiling up.
"If that 'thing' is roaming outside, it is much dangerous for anyone. We need to search for it. Not to mention whatever thing that is we need special team for investigating it. A team comprising of elites of each race." The dwarven king spoke with such ferocity like stating a fact.
Everyone present in the room knows who he was talking about. How could they not know about it? It was created especially for this kind of missions. The elite team made using the prodigies and experts in various fields.
"Then it is decided. The Zeroes shall be deployed for the mission." The Pegasus lord announced officially. Both the dukes stiffened up when they heard about the zeroes.
"The Zeroes? What are they?" The orc chief was confused. He didn't understand what was going on. All he knows is they are planning to give the mission to something called the Zeroes.
"The Zeroes are elite covert team made up using the best of best from all of the alliance races. You wouldn't know it since they are not publicly known to anyone outside the people here."
"Oh! If you want elite warriors, we have plenty of them."
"Maybe next time. We are planning on expanding the team further since the war is looming around the horizon." Said the lord.
The orc chief knows that it was because he is new, they can't trust him with something important like this. But he was glad they at least included their kingdom in the alliance.

Both Reiner and Daemon was getting goosebump when they heard about the scout incident. Their faces drained of blood; they even look like their soul just left their body. Both of them looked at each other simultaneously. Reiner slowly shook his head. He knew what Daemon was thinking. He could see it in his eyes. He wanted to tell the truth about the 'thing' and the truth about what happened there. But Reiner knew it will only create huge problems if his dream power was revealed. They will take his little brother away. Lock him up like some sort of experimentation. The best thing to do right now would be to remain silent.
At least he knows the truth and as a member of the 'Zeroes,' he could use that knowledge to capture the 'thing' without revealing Daemon's power. Reiner doesn't want to take away his brother's youth and make him a war product, the kid had already lost his teenage days to the slumps, he didn't want to take away his youth too.
Seeming to understand Reiner's intention Daemon didn't further thought about the matter. He would talk with his brother later about the matter. Dropping that matter he refocused on the meeting.
The seemingly little interaction wasn't unfollowed, the lord had already sensed something amiss about the brothers when the elven king brought about the scout. But since they didn't talk about it, he wasn't able to pinpoint the matter.

The reminder of the meeting was not interesting as the emergency matter. They talked about the increasing activity across the sea. The change in mana particles caught the Pegasus interest. Since they are high in the sky, they would be the first one to pick on anything drastic related to the mana. The dwarves boasted about their artifacts and other new technologies which would be extremely useful for the upcoming war.
Nothing sort of development was from the human realm and it was within the expectation. In terms of development humans are the last one to do anything at all.
The lord has warned every realm to be cautious and must have at most security on the boarders. Just like that the meeting ended without any major changes other than the secret mission and security tightening.
Everyone was dispersed and was returning to their rooms. Daemon felt a gaze on his back of the neck. He wasn't able to comprehend who it was, so he looked back. There was only the masses dispersing, and there wasn't anyone particularly strong on it. He thought he must have imagined it. But he wasn't imagining it at all.
