Chapter 16

"Hi mom, hi dad," Olivia greeted both her parents respectively before picking them on their cheeks.

"Good evening sir, ma'am," Scott greeted them calmly.

Olivia's mom, Ariella immediately pulled him closer and hugged him briefly.

"You don't have to sound so formal with us my dear. In no time, I'll become your mother in law and you'll become my son and surely, you don't greet your mother so formally. Feel free to address us freely my dear," she tells him and Scott nodded positively with a small smile on his face.

"Olivia dear, you have no idea how proud and happy you've made me in the last couple of days. I was so excited to the point where I just had to tell your aunt in Spain about the wedding and because of you, she'll be flying back here tonight," Ariella informed Olivia, whose face immediately turned sour.

"For goodness sake mom, what's with you and dad and not informing me of things until the last minute? You should have told me this hours ago at the very least," Olivia protested, getting tired of having to remind her parents to update her early whenever they came to a decision or whenever something would happen.

Her mother's sister, Sabrina had never been her favourite aunt and she'll probably never be one. She didn't get why her mother even bothered announcing her wedding to her family abroad when she could have just kept it to herself and allowed them to find out much later.

"Oh, don't be so silly Olivia. What's so wrong about having your aunt over? Don't tell me you thought your wedding was going to be a simple one? You're the only daughter of our empire sweetie and we can't have our precious daughter holding a humble wedding ceremony. Your wedding is gonna be the best of the best and not only is your aunt Sabrina coming, every extended member of my family and your dad's family will also be in attendance," Ariella bragged proudly with a satisfied look on her face. She could already picture the historic event of watching her daughter get married and nothing excited her more than the thought of finally realising her dream.

Olivia struggled with great difficulty to hold back her eye roll. She could not believe how ridiculous the entire situation was and she just hated the fact that there was absolutely nothing she could do to put an end to their ridiculousness. If it were up to her, no news of her marriage would be public at all.

She'd have kept everything a secret from them and also made sure that only a selected few would attend the wedding ceremony. Unfortunately for her, all of this wasn't possible for her since she happened to be born into a famous family where something as important as a wedding was almost impossible to keep as a secret.

"I honestly can't believe you guys. You're just being ridiculous at this point," she muttered, not bothering to hide her irritation before walking away from her mother and leaving her alone with Scott.

Ariella simply rolled eyes as she stared at Olivia's retreating figure. As far as she was concerned, everything she was doing was for her daughter's sake and Olivia would eventually thank her someday.

"So Scott dear, how are you preparing for the wedding?" Olivia's father, Marcos asked.

"To be honest with you Sir, everything is going well and I am trying to prepare myself but I just wasn't expecting everything to be so soon. It's not that I'm complaining or anything, it's all just still very new to me," Scott told him honestly before gulping down a glass of water.

"Hmm, I see. You know son, I actually feel very bad for pushing the wedding up so soon without talking to you about it and knowing how you feel about it but the truth is, I'm just worried that something might happen and Liv might end up not getting married. I know it's bad as a father to think so but knowing how my daughter is, I just can't help but be doubtful," he admits to Scott, who simply chuckled.

Olivia mentally rolled her eyes at her father's word. He had threatened her with the company and here he was talking about something entirely different.

"It's fine Sir, I completely understand your worry but I can assure you that I don't plan on letting your daughter go anytime soon," he assured confidently, placing his hands on Olivia's hands and squeezing them tightly, causing Olivia to react with surprise from the sudden body contact.

She didn't understand what had happened but the moment his hand touched hers, she felt strange and this caused her to quickly remove her hands from underneath him immediately and look away from him.

"Oh my goodness you guys, I hope I'm not too late," the familiar voice of the ever cheerful Sabrina sang, causing everyone to turn in her direction.

Olivia let out a displeased sigh. "Here comes the crazy woman," she muttered under her breath.
