The defeat of the Sindh forces and more so the unexpected news of the death of King (Raja) Dahir disheartened many of them and instead of reaching Brahmanabad to help Jai Singh, they turned back.

Jai Singh was planning to fight another decisive battle with the help of these people. So he made it known that King (Raja) Dahir was not dead, that he had gone after his defeat to seek the help of the kings of South India, and would reach Brahmanabad with an army in a few days.

Jai Singh's followers, dismayed, reported this news to the returning Kings and chiefs, who flocked under his banner one after the other, hoping to share in the final victory.

When the news reached Muhammad ibn al-Qasim, he immediately took action. Nearly fifty thousand soldiers had gathered under Jai Singh's flag.

So he went out of the city and confronted Muhammad ibn al-Qasim.

In addition to the people of Sindh, many chiefs had also joined Muhammad ibn al-Qasim's army.

The leadership of these chiefs was entrusted to Bheem Singh.

Jai Singh's Rajput companions fought bravely and the Sindhi soldiers were dismayed to see a large number of their countrymen under the Arab flag.
