Speed-run Civilization

Jeni giggled as Alice made silly faces and sounds to amuse her. Alice couldn't help but smile at the baby's infectious laughter. Playing with Jeni always brought a smile to her face, but today her mind was preoccupied with thoughts of her husband, Hughes.

Hughes had left to command the army in the upcoming war and Alice couldn't help but worry about him. She knew it was his duty to serve the kingdom and protect their people, but the thought of him being in danger made her uneasy.

As she played with Jeni, she couldn't shake off her worries and fears for her husband's safety. She tried to distract herself by focusing on Jeni's laughter, but her thoughts kept drifting back to Hughes.

She wondered if he was okay, if he was eating well, if he was sleeping well. She wished she could be there with him to take care of him, but she knew that wasn't possible. She was needed here in the palace to serve the queen and the kingdom.
