Anomaly

Several things were common to the world now. Beasts that could be described as a figment of one's imagination were in fact real and affected the world on a substantial level.

Also, werewolves and vampires now dominated the surface plane. Human's that we're found were found wandering about freely where in most cases later captured by the now self-proclaimed superior beings, the vampires.

Yet in a bizarre world like this with lots of outlandish events occurring daily, not one time was it recorded that a vampire was caught feeding on the blood of another vampire. Yet oddly enough, Finn did that and even went further to dig in and start eating a fellow vampire like himself.

His sister Juan and Agatha stood still just like every other vampire in both shock and horror. Agatha herself barely blinked through it all as she watched her newborn ravage through the corpse of another one of their kind.

Finn was ruthless with the devouring. His claws tore up flesh from the girl's body like was knife cutting through butter.

He slashed, clawed, dug, and flipped the remains of the body here and there. All through this, growls could be heard from him as he feasted alone.

The other vampire kids with him slowly began to back away and return to their parents on instinct. The nest had grown quiet and now even the king had eyes on the situation.

The woman within his grasp that he was about to kill suddenly began to wonder why her demise was taking too long. So with fear and anticipation for the worst, she opened her eyes that she had once closed to shield herself from ever having to live the mortal plane with the last face she would see being that of the vampire king, her murderer.

But the once ferocious eyes that housed malicious intent that she was once looked into had a different feeling in them. Right now she could see a mix of different feelings swirling inside the now hollow black pupils of the king.

She didn't want to admit it to herself but deep down she knew she was at the point of her death, her mind could very well be jammed with numerous thoughts forcing her reasoning at that point not to be the best.

But starting deeply inside the eyes of the king was what brought the final conviction. She wasn't having any case of anxiety at that moment, no, what she saw was the truth. The look in the king's eye now was one of fear.

But realizing she was right, ushered in a new feeling. If truly the king was afraid, of which she still couldn't believe, then what was making him scared?

She shuddered at this thought. The King wasn't one to be trifle with and this was in the records. Being the king of the race of vampires who considered themselves as the "Superior beings" had to mean whoever held that position was to be watched out for.

And rightfully so, the king was one to be scared of when taking a step towards him. Yet somehow, she saw fear in his eyes. And at that moment her mind burned with curiosity.

The grip on her neck had loosened ever since she saw the look in the King's eyes. Yet the release wasn't significant enough to give her room to toggle free.

But because of how she was held up with one hand closed around her neck by the king, she was made to face him and back the pool of vampires.

So in the long run, she couldn't see what happened amongst the large group of vampires waiting below the stage and in the large gathering area.

"The prophecy of kalu, it's true?" The king mouthed.

But he wasn't the only one who had said this or thought along this line. As in the crowd, everyone repeated the word or perhaps the name including Agatha herself who said...

"My offspring is... kalu?" She said with a tone that said she was in disbelief or perhaps was not willing to believe.

But already, a lot of vampires were down to their final judgment. As now Finn stood up with blood all over his face as well as his once thick black hair. Somehow the glow on the golden-slitted eye had come down to just about normal.

But on his right eye which housed the red slit eye was still glowing fiercely and for a reason.

Right now he stood in the middle of hundreds upon hundreds of vampires who all had glowing eyes and were concentrating on one spot, him.

He could tell this because his body felt unease and his instincts of flight or fight had kicked in given the outward reaction from his red eye.

"They are going to kill Finn, aren't they mother?" Juan asked being the silent one in all of this. She had heard her mother utter some strange name just like the other vampires around her as well, and she understood next to nothing of what was going on.

But the aura now she did understand. She knew what everyone was about to do because she could feel it. The anger and bloodlust around her were at a maximum. Even her mother was exuding some strange aura that she couldn't quite put words to explain.

"Wolves!!!!... They are close to the nest... I think there's an ambush in motion!!!" A loud cry was heard. Everyone turned around and could see a male figure standing off on one of the top layers of the nest.

"Wolves?!... We must go now. Take the spawns to safety, we will fight this fight!!"The king screamed aloud and at that moment, chaos ensued as the whole place was in a rumble.

Some vampires ran home to their nest but others followed the vampire who had brought the news about the wolves.

In the midst of it all, Agatha remained unmoving and so did Finn.

"Go now with your brother and keep him safe at all cost, I must join the fight to push back those fowl-mouthed animals!" Agatha turned to Juan to say. And like a bullet, she shot off her feet and was in front of Finn in no time. She grabbed Finn whose weight posed no issue to her and handed over to Juan.

"Go now, quick!!!" Agatha instructed all while she looked around with shaky hands and her eyes appearing to be damp as well.

Today, the lady who was in the king's grip of death was left on the stage. Due to all the strange events that had happened which she was still trying to wrap her head around, she was miraculously alive. Although she didn't know how to react to this outcome when the thought of being next in line again was never too far.

And worst of all, the fact that she wasn't killed meant she was to return to the prison again. She didn't know which one she would pick if given the option to stay alive in a prison where all manner of things happened such as the vampire guards who were kept there to watch them turning out to feast on their blood whenever they felt like and picking randomly at that too, or just like some of the humans that the ones back at the prison considered lucky who knew their death was coming, end up being slaughtered by the king and dying alongside a host of others.

But in the end, the choice wasn't hers and along with those that were brought out and were meant to be killed, they were escorted back to the prison, until another time.

******

Juan ran just like her mother told her with Finn on her back at full speed. Finn could sense the urgency in each turn she made and the strain her body continually endured as she struggled to push herself harder. But right then he was lost in deep thoughts as to what happened.

-I sensed death looming around the corner seconds until the news of the wolves came. Truly I was about to return to that place when of my thousand existences, this one feels like the one I finally live.

-I knew it felt too good to be true. I always knew this body was cursed as well, It had to be since I was occupying it.

-When I'm alive, I'm an anomaly. A being of inconsequential value sailing but opposing the flow of what is considered the norm. When there's a right, I am the wrong. I am not of either side of the coin, I am the hand that flips the coin and tips the balance of both sides.

-when I'm dead, it's a different story. But the same outcome all over again. Nothing ever goes right with me. Good fortune is my rival.

-But I have seen enough to know that with the power I sense brewing in me, dying without a fight would be added insult to my laughable existence. So much potential, I can feel it. And I'm not going to die ever again, not ever again!
