Chapter 34: My dear boy

MIRANDA 'S POV -

The actual presence of the vampire king had rattled me to my bones. But instead of a cliche old dead af looking white haired king, I was met with a...good looking face. Damn! He seemed even younger than Damon with rosy lips and babyface alongwith vibrant skin.

His quick short glances fell on each one of us, finally stopping at Damon, as a corner of his lips tugged into a snarky smile.

" Ah, my dear boy! I had felt your absence leave a hole in my heart, the moment you stepped out of the castle without a proper see - off. So, to ache my soothing heart I set out searching for you until I finally stumbled on this village here. How come you left the palace in such a haste to come to this filthy place?!".

The perfect smile never left his lips whereas Damon's skin got drained of any colour whatsoever. Sterning his gaze, Damon, addressed his father in a way which made me think that there was going to be a massacre right now," Nice to hear that you finally took some notice as I actually left. Unlike the castle which reminded me of your existence, this little place makes me forget about it."

The king resorted to deviously lick his lips and answer charmingly like Lucifer himself," Not for long. Now, where shall I reside in this sad excuse of a house till I get tired of seeing your face." With a frustrated groan, Damon asked the butler to send his royal ass to the room farthest away from our rooms, as I became very well aware that imminent death would follow us. God or no God, this man made me feel weak.

SAMARAH 'S POV -

After the king had been escorted to his chambers, I felt the negativity around Damon. Exhaling sharply, Damon said," Now, there's no getting him off our eyes until I send all of you away to Kendall's mother." My heart skipped a beat at the last sentence.

With a quivering voice, I asked," Why her? I meant.... can't we not involve her in this mess of a situation. The two clans clash anyways and even a small sparkle can ignite an entire forest fire.", I quickly rambled.

Damon came up behind me to hug me by the waist as he gently brushed the hair away from my forehead answering," It's the safest place to be exactly because of their rift, my love. Don't get stressed out. You just met your father- in - law anyways. How hard can it be meeting your friend's parents? She's gonna like you anyways.", he playfully tried to lift the sour mood.

But this time what's broken cannot be mended.

Damon's hand left my waist, for a nice back squeeze but it never came. Instead, the two hands left my waist retracting immediately, as the door opened revealing a pair of glimmery eyes, which lingered on me a little longer than necessary. My body reacted immediately by jumping back as the blood thirsty king appeared in the doorway.

With a chilling voice he remarked," This place being peaceful might be one of the rare things we agree on. I will be staying here for a few weeks as a much needed vacation. Serve me well son and I also will be meeting all your friends."

He turned away at an instance soaring a last glance at me. Meanwhile, Damon crumpled on the bed near me hyperventelating," He definitely knows something. Either a...ab...about L... Luce..Mia or both ...o..of...you."

I saw red flash before my eyes as the words uttered to me in childhood struck my mind. " Whatever you do, do not ever face the vampire king. Kill yourself if necessary but do not ever come in his sight. " I almost choked on my own saliva.

What do I do now, mother.
