Chapter 37: What's up? Death. Same here

SAMARAH 'S POV -

After I heard the awful king order Damon to go away, my mind went completely blank. It was either a death trap for us or for Damon. Or for probably both.

I gazed aimlessly at the wall coated with beige paint right across from me. I couldn't believe that Damon would be leaving me again. The first ever time he had left was also because of this young - looking old fart. I would claw him to death, the moment I got my hands on him.

I felt aloof the entire time until the hour before Damon's departure when I saw him pack his clothes, staring at the wardrobe.

I rolled up from my position on the bed and went upto him, hugging him from behind. He stilled for a second before cackling with dry voice," I am sorry my love. I wish I didn't have to....", I put a finger on his lips shushing him before saying," I know . Don't worry too much about me and take care of yourself. It's all because the vampire king's a petty little bitch."

I heard the ashen boy chuckle as he replied," I will always protect you all. Don't miss me too much love. I will be back before you drive the vampire king crazy." I half smiled and watched him walk out the door.

KENDALL 'S POV -

It had been hours since I had left the dining room alongwith Ken in it. I guess that he had picked up the hint and not come trotting back to my room; although half of me wanted him to.

As much as I had wanted alone time to get my head around the recent events. I had long ago began to crave some form of comfort; for I felt overwhelmed. The crafty king was surely upto no good and none of us had any hint of what was going on in his mind.

And no matter what we did now, even if we escaped, the consequences would be dire. Unlike the past, Damon hadn't even fought back against his father. He just complied readily; which seemed unreal anyways. With him gone; his father would go to any extent to get whatever he came here for. I couldn't let that happen. I had to stop Damon.

I covered the distance of the room in a few long strides. As my hand pulled on the doorknob, a firm hand clasped my mouth pushing me into the room by another firm hold on the waist. After licking the door behind us, the grip on my mouth relaxed allowing me to breathe finally. I stared wide eyed at the intruder and asked," Why the secrecy?"

MIRANDA 'S POV -

Did Damon just sign us up for a death sentence? Did he really not care about even his so 'called' mate Samarah. I had been pacing around in my room for half an hour now. After coming back from the awful dinner setting (due to which I couldn't even enjoy the 5 star quality food), I half - ran, half - walked to my room to get away from the despicable king who gurgled the blood in front of us. It made me sick to my stomach.

I huffed a long and heavy breath only after entering my room and locking it. Powerful my ass; I felt so disgruntled that I didn't even want to be alone with my thoughts. So, I marched towards Samarah's room planning to ask Damon whether he planned to get us killed by his father.

Upon, entering the room, I just found a lonely Samarah sitting on the bed, staring pointlessly at something.

Dammit! I had missed Damon! Was he really that eager to say RIP to us that he had left before the designated time? Scooting closer to her I nudged her at the elbow thus breaking her off from her trance.

She jerked her head a few times before saying with a sad smile," What's up?"

"Death", the word slipped out from my mouth although I didn't intend to. After all, in all these years Samarah hadn't quite appreciated my dark jokes most of the time.

But instead I heard a low sound resembling a deep moted cackle. Did she just laugh?

"Same here.", she replied with her voice all gravelly. Before I could offer her some comfort; Kendall barged in staring at us with wide open eyes; hair dishevelled - "What happened to you?", I croaked out followed by Samarah's shrill gasp. She took long and deep breaths, as I continued to bombard her with theories of my own," Did you fall down? Was the evil king after you? Was he after your blood? OMFGSH did he figure out who you are?"

"Did Ken fuck you too hard?" Samarah unexpectedly cut me off as I just stared at her open mouthed before the three of us burst into laughter. Finally catching a breath, Kendall replied," It's nothing like that; I just saw Damon leave and thought that you guys were alone so I thought I would provide you some company. But being afraid of having a face off with the vampire king, I used my superspeed a little too fast and got a little out breath." She paused waiting for us to digest the information.

Samarah inadvertently broke out," Are you sure all this is not due to Ken knocking you up?" The private question caught Kendall off guard, making her blush a deep as she stuttered," N..n...no I h..ha..have yet to meet him after dinner." Taking the opportunity to lighten the mood, I embarassed her further by grabbing her shoulders while simultaneously mock pushing her out of the room cooing," Ken needs his doll now. You should go quickly Kendall."

The expression on her face made me believe that riled her up quite enough as she broke off my grip, strictly stating, " I am gonna be with you two for now. So, focus on me and not him."
