Chapter 5:

KENDALL 'S POV -

I walked straight towards my room. The guards along the doorway bowed to me. I nodded at some of them and continued at a fast pace towards my room.

Upon entering my room, I headed to get freshen up in the bathroom. I took a quick shower and dried my hair. On opening the bathroom door, I found Miranda and Samarah sitting on the bed and standing near my mirror respectively. I paid them no heed and began to empty the closet looking for a comfortable gown to wear.

"So, are you going to address the officials now?", Samarah asked. I looked at her and raised an eyebrow as in "duh".

Upon finding a flowy lavender gown, I slid it through my head. " Shouldn't you wear something in black? That might look more suitable since....", said a hesitating Miranda.

I froze in my actions. My eyes wanted to produce tears but seemed to have run empty by then and just stung instead. "Yeah, you are right. Samarah can you pick one for me.", I said and tore the current dress off me. I trudged tiredly towards Miranda and plopped down on the bed next to her.

" Doll, you know.... I didn't mean that to sound rash.... I just didn't want any mistakes to happen..... I am sor...", I didn't let Miranda finish and just hug her. The light in her seemed to fill me up with energy as well but it wasn't all calming as before...it seemed a little forceful as well.

I broke out of the embrace. "Got it!", Samarah quickly distracted me with a large sleek elegant black gown and a paired little black satin face veil. I looked skeptically at the veil," Isn't it a little too much?", I asked pointing at the veil. " You are royalty Doll...if anyone can wear it ...it's you.", Samara tried to reason. I wore the outfit with a little skepticism.

I must admit though that the pieces together did compliment me and make me feel very put together even though I was feeling like a complete and total mess.

" Guys, wait for me here. I might have you guys called so just be ready." I said. " Why us??? What are we supposed to do in there?". I left the room and two of my confused friends in there.

At the end of the hallway, I saw someone stand up straighter on noticing me but the face veil made it difficult to guess who it was. When I got a whiff of him, the answer was clear as day though. " Doll.... babe.... You never cease to stun me. Especially with the veil. You look like a goddess.", Ken said. I just rolled my eyes and said," By Goddess, you mean Miranda?"

We looked at each other and split laughing. " Nice one.", complimented a giggling Damon and a vampire king with a boyish smile. The vampire king looked like a model frozen in time with his ever young appearance. His red cape flowed in the air as he walked towards me and put up his hand in a olden day elegance, questioning," Shall we go?" I hooked my hand around his elbow. Immediately the thoughts of him with my mother flashed across my mind.

I swallowed my pre-digested food back and immediately knew this was going to be a lot harder then I had thought. We walked towards the big oak conference room on the top floor. Damon and Ken tailed us followed by a ton of guards.

SAMARAH 'S POV -

"When she said she would call for us, she meant just you right?", I asked Miranda. She gave me a," Are you kidding me?" ,look. " She definitely did not. Additionally, there's no way that I am going in front of officials alone. I never even presented during our group projects!"

Group projects. That seemed like such a far away world.

" I wish that group projects were the most concerning things for us now.", I sighed.

KENDALL 'S POV -

The officials stood up as soon as I entered the small secretive hall. This hall was filled with ancient carvings and only used on events of significant value. All the guards were stationed outside to indicate that this was a peaceful discussion.

I must say quite a few eyes were raised when everyone saw me entering the hall, dressed in black with a veil and accompanied by none other than our greatest enemy, the vampire king.

The elders even openly sneered.

I quickly understood that a lot of opposition was present today. I had to be very careful.

I sat at the head of the table and this shocked even more officials as this had always been the seat of the presiding ruler, aka my mother.

By now everyone's eyes were brimming with questions. I took a deep breath and began to speak," As our wise elders had stated, the Goddess of light who shall bring upon our dawn and be our saviour has arrived. But unfortunately as soon as my entourage set foot in our castle we were attacked."

Everyone gasped. " But how could any perpratators enter? Our boders are always protected?"

" That's easy to answer. The perpratators were from our own side." , My reason got even more shocked gasps and looks of astonishment.

Yet, I calmly continued," Even the palace guards were nowhere to be seen at night. And had it not been for LUCE MIA, one of the prepatrators had almost unalived my friend, when the rest of us were asleep. It was her divine being that protected us without befalling any harm on me and my entourage. But unfortunately, my mother had already been attacked by multiple perpratators and one sneakily managed to stab her in the abdomen. Yet she tried to.protect us and fought valiantly for an hour more but the immense amount of blood loss caused her to close her eyes."

Every single soul present in the vicinity froze. " Somehow, Damon sent a signal to his father who arrived with his troops and put an end to the mess."

" How can this be? She was so powerful? She couldn't have died from a simple bloodloss. She was ...she was...", my mother's close associate, a middle aged man spoke up.

" None of us could fathom this in our worst nightmares but it happened and now I shall never rest until the main source of this evil is found. I shall find it and make sure to let it know that it shall face the werewolf's wrath now." Cries of anger and uproar broke out. Along with the Gibil, the oldest wise one in the room chanting,"All hail Kendall, the guardian! The protector! Our queen!" This made it clear as my stance as the new queen.

" Sorry reverned one, but she hasn't gone christening yet to be called queen.", Behemoth, the royal advisor and my mother's most trusted royal, croaked out. He further continued," How can we be sure that it is indeed Luce Mia, our protector you speak of and not some con?"

His accusing words earned looks of horror from others. Once all this died down, I would have him hanged by his tongue.

In a dark and solemn voice, I addressed him," To speak without any ounce of grace and respect for your queen is frowned upon in my kingdom, Behemoth. The christening shall be held after an official mourning is conducted for my late mother's soul. However, leaving the country without a ruler leaves us prone to get attacked. So I shall take over the duties from now. As for Luce Mia, she shall be meeting with you soon enough." I declared.

Turning away from the collective, I asked Damon to get Luce Mia and Kendall from my room.

" Sorry for the uncouth words I said.", apologised Behemoth although his face showed he definitely was not.

Meanwhile in the bedchamber of Kendall -

" Luce Mia......", a voice called out and knocked the doors to Kendall's room.

"Come in.", said Samarah, since Luce Mia was in the bathroom.
