Together

"You can do it. I am right here."

Thomas gulped and walked into the bar. I followed him behind. Everything is going to end well. I am sure. I have a very good feeling about it.

"Hey." Theo said without looking up while making the glasses clean themselves. Bar will open within a few hours. We have to make it fast. "The usual?" Theo asked.

"Nop." I said and turned to give Thomas a nod. He is pale. Thank God, Theo isn't looking up to see his terrified face. It would have given away.

"I want to go to Riverlook." I demanded.

Theo looked up. He is now getting sick of this.

"I told you already that you can't." Theo said, his voice stern.

"I want you to cancel my contract." I am as stubborn as him. I learned it from him afterall. "Now!" I ordered.

"I told you_" Theo's voice stopped abruptly and he walked inside without another word. He came back with the contract and removed the enchantment put on it. We both stood there watching him chant some rubbish. I suppose it is greek. Where did he learn all these? Why can't he use it for some better purposes? He himself burned the contract into ashes.

"That's what I wanted." I said with a smirk.

"What_ No! How did this happen?" He looked at the ashes on the floor.

He looked up at me with wide eyes. He is in disbelief. Wondering when I learned to do dark magic. He is amused by my abilities. He might haven't heard about such a type of magic. You can never learn it, Theo. At least not from me.

"Thank you so much Thomas." I said, smiling at him. He smiled back and nodded.

I watched Theo's face hit the realisation. It is worth it. I know Thomas hates to use his ability. But there is no other way by which Theo is going to accept this. Besides, Emma is my first priority. It always will be. You can't stop me from loving her Theo, not even with your dark magic. I was never over her. I can't. Emma got my heart from the very first day. I just took this many years to understand it. But Thomas understood the moment I said her name to him. He knew that I can't stop loving her. He is helping me to get back to her. I will try my best to pay you back, my best friend.

"Why did you do that, Thomas?" Theo's voice was dangerously low. Thomas is scared now. No one can expect what is going to come out of his hands. He possesses so much dark stuff.

I watched as Theo raised his hands and pointed his fingers at Thomas.

"You are going to pay for it." Theo said before shooting a spell out. Thomas dodged it by inches and hid behind the tables.

"Don't you dare." I hissed, walking to stand in front of Thomas's hiding spot. "You can only touch him after you kill me." My eyes turned red and the showcase full of drinks turned to beast.

I still remember how my father dragged Emma away from me on that day. I was just standing there watching her getting humiliated before him. There is nothing else in this world that I regret the most. I wished I had some power then. But now I have it, and I am not going to stand and watch Thomas getting killed by Theo. I am here. I am not going to live with regret anymore. I will live without regrets. I will protect my loved ones. Not even Theo can stop me. And as the contract is gone, I am free to do anything as I please. You are nothing in front of me now, Theo, nothing.

I motioned my beast towards Theo and he began to shoot spells towards it. I took this opportunity to throw some glass bottles in Theo's direction. He was busy trying to escape from my beast to notice the flying bottles. I smirked. You can't defeat Ace.

"What is going on here!" I heard Mabel shouting from the doorstep. Her eyes held fear. She was never scared. The last time I saw her scared was when I was beaten up by Theo, in the name of training. She thought I won't walk again. She isn't scared of me. Who she is scared of is Theo. He knows a lot of dark stuff. and all I got is a beast.

The flying bottles hit Theo's arm and he glared back at me. He is angry. So angry. His face is turning as red as the blood in his arm. He shot some spells at me, which were Spanish, I suppose. I made my beast stand between me and the spells and the spell hit the beast converting it into a pile of dust.

Now he has officially started it. I turned tables in the bar to cluster together to form a more aggressive beast. It roared so soundly, shaking the windowpanes.

Mabel just stood there looking at the three of us. She is scared that we will do something if she says something wrong.

"Mabel, leave." I said with gritted teeth. "You shouldn't be here. It's our problem. We will solve it ourselves."

"Your problem huh?" Mabel scoffed. "You both are MY children. Your problem is MY problem. I can't let you both solve the problem by killing each other off. I can't stand it. It is my duty to keep you both together. I. WON'T. LEAVE."

We both stood there, never breaking our eye contact. He will do anything if my eyes leave his. I can hear my beast's snarling behind me. He is hungry and the prey is here. I can't take away its treats two times in a row.

"Ace." Mabel called. "Take back your beast. And Theo, lower your hand."

We stood at our grounds. Theo is angry because his contract got burned. I am angry because he was ruining my life for his own good. We both stood like that for a moment. But eventually gave up by her continuous pleas.

"Theo, let him go." Mabel said to Theo, grabbing his shoulder. "He has already earned you enough for a lifetime. Let him go. He is not meant to live like this. She is waiting for you, isn't she?" She asked turning to me.

I nodded and looked down to my feet. I am still not sure if I should save her. She is using me so that she can live with someone else happily. I am still confused. I don't know what to do. What I knew was I wanted to break free from Theo's grab over me. And now what?

"Don't overthink Ace. If she is using you, let her. If you are thinking so, you have been making use of her all these years. She was there for you, hearing you out everyday. She helped you know about the world and even took you out of the room. What did she get back? She was wasting her time. She could have been doing better things for her. But she chose you over everything else" Mabel approached me smiling. "Return her empathy. She has the right to ask for a favour. You have already asked that a lot, haven't you?"

I nodded with a sigh.

"I will join." Thomas said, unexpectedly. "You may need some mind controlling to save her," I smiled so widely that I may have looked like a fool to them. I can't believe he said it. I have thought about how I would manage to save her alone. I know it is impossible. I decided on asking Thomas's help honestly and I am so happy he said it to me himself. I am thankful. I can't repay you, mate. It is beyond repaying.

"I am coming too." Mabel cheered. I smiled at her. You may tell her she is old and all. But who are you to judge someone by their age?And besides, she is still young, isn't she?

"Can I join too?" We all turned to Theo. "I feel so… guilty." He paused looking at each of us. Even though he acts tough outside, I know what he lacked was some love. He never had friends. I was his first friend. I know that exact same emotion. He will be left alone among so many drunk idiots. I was the only person he liked. He is a kid trying his best to survive in this Reasel town. We can't leave him behind alone, can we? "Please let me come with you."
