Chapter 32_ Your secret? Tell us!

Senior Eira teleported us to the porch of one of the buildings in school and instructed us to lie low. We bent our heads and waited.

I had so many questions in my head that I wanted to ask her. However, I did not want her to get mad at me as she did Mia so, I kept mute. When Mackenzie spoke, my stomach danced in joy. Her question led to the outbursts of the numerous questions I was burying in me.

"Why do we have to hide from being tested?" Mackenzie asked the senior.

Senior Eira shrugged "We will get tested after getting the vaccine anyway so it's harmless if we did not get tested now." she replied nonchalantly.

This was a case of a person being asked about the people who were involved in a fight but was stating the cause of the fight instead.

"That wasn't what I wanted to know. I asked why we broke the school rules" Mackenzie rephrased. I knew she was a lady of small talks, she would not like how the senior evaded her question.

I was surprised she even decided to follow the senior's advice. Later, I would ask her about it. Well, I did follow the senior's advice also, I had my reasons.

Senior Eira sighed in frustration, it was interesting to watch because she and Mackenzie had almost the same nonchalant personality.

It was satisfying to watch Mackenzie go impatient over someone who was just exactly like her. Likewise senior Eira.

"Leave the reason to the seniors, there is nothing a junior like yourselves could do about it. I did not force you to come out with me, you chose to." Senior Eira replied in a seemingly calm tone that held harsh bursts circling it.

Mackenzie blew the strand of hair that had almost entered her mouth away. Blame that on the surge of breeze on the porch. "We followed your lead, the least you can do is give us explanations" she threw her hands in the air.

"Focus on the betterment of your powers, when the time comes, you will find out and that is if you have a better insight than the rest of the students. For now, leave the hard work to the seniors who are more capable " was Senior Eira sarcastic reply.

I guess she was indirectly telling us she was more competent because she was a senior. Again, my irritation for the seniors grew.

"Are you saying because you are a senior, you are better than us?" Mackenzie shot her a revolted look.

"I am saying because I'm a senior, I've had lots of trainings and lectures enough to handle whatever situation and enough to know the most important thing to newbies should be focusing on how to control their powers and make the best of it." Senior Eira stressed.

I kind of get her point but it was only fair for her to tell us about the whole thing and reason why we had to run from being tested. What if we do not know sometime later and fall into wrong hands?

I saw Mackenzie's face develop that strange look she always had when she was up to mischief again as she looked Senior Eira in the eye. "Why did we run from getting tested?" she asked the senior who

replied immediately like a puppet.

"There is a group, we call it magical fight of injustice. It comprises of students who stood to uncover any secret and possible schemes that could be pulled by either the school or the teachers. I am a member of the group and also a leader. Whenever we suspected anything fishy, we work together secretly to expose the culprits" I watched the arrogant senior Eira answer obediently and I was wowed.

Mackenzie was using her powers on the senior! How ironic. The senior was saying stuffs about us not being eligible enough to know her secrets and to focus on how to control our powers and Mackenzie showed her just how much those ineligible powers

could turn her into a puppet!

I had to place my hand above my mouth to refrain the liquid laugh that wanted to force itself out of my mouth from getting into the hearing of the others.

Mackenzie tilted her head " What is the scheme this time and what does it have the to do with not following rules?"

"We believe some of the teachers, who knows, could be one or two or maybe more are searching for something amongst the students. This test before the vaccine was unnecessary. So when the test got announced, I went out to scout. I saw that the other staff thought the test was not necessary but a teacher insisted they carried it out." she explained.

There was a stone silence at first.

I broke the silence as I asked thoughtfully "So the teacher is the suspect? What do you think she is looking for?"

To my amazement, the senior turned to me "What suspect?" she spat with a disgusted look and shrugged me aside as she got up and teleported away leaving me and Mackenzie behind.

However, "I will be back" she mumbled to us before teleporting away.

When she left, I stood up to look around the porch while wondering why the senior suddenly regained her senses and didn't answer my own question.

Smack! I felt a slap on my outstretched buttocks.

It was Mackenzie!

I touched my buttocks immediately with both of my hands as the pain settled on its delicate flesh.

I turned to face her " What was that for?!" I yelled, my pink face getting red.

"What's your problem? Why do you have to ask her a question and disrupt the whole thing? You couldn't have waited until I was done interrogating her before you shot your fat mouth in!" that was the first time

I would hear Mackenzie spit scorns, she was unlike Mia who does it the whole time.

Maybe I had really frustrated her but was what I did really that annoying?

So that was why the senior regained her senses and didn't answer my question. Me chirping in disrupted the whole power connection thing or maybe it was because Mackenzie was yet to perfect her powers

but she was probably the best among the newbies.

If a competition was held in the school for newbies, I was sure Mackenzie was winning it or she could be one of the best.

"I had no idea! You did not have to be so mean." I fired at Mackenzie even though I understood her exasperation.

She sighed and sat on the floor " Now we did not get to find out who the teacher was and what they were scheming. Who do you think it could be?"

"I don't know but we can always find out after this mess. I mean, it's us."

The group senior Eira mentioned reminded me of Ajax, I remembered he used the group as bait to lurk me and the girls. I didn't know the group really existed.

"Yeah its us, the trio who gets in trouble trying to save the day but what they got instead was workloads as punishments from the dean." Mackenzie slapped my hand that was placed on hers away, the sarcasm evident in her voice.

"Whatever " I fumed and instantaneously, senior Eira reappeared.

"They left the room, its safe to go in now" her voice made Mackenzie look up.

I straightened and outstretched my hand at her.

Suddenly, I remembered something. It ran to my mind like a leech, it pestered my thoughts and travelled to my throat. " Will Mia be okay?" I asked.

"She will be if she doesn't have what they needed" was the senior's nonchalant reply.

How could she be so nonchalant about something so serious! Oh, Mia was not her friend so she probably didn't care.

Just then, she turned to Mackenzie, " Don't you ever try that on me again. The next time you do, I will snap your head off of your neck without a second thought." she glared at her.

I saw the solemn spark around her eyes, she meant what she said! Has she killed before?

Oh, the seniors were so scary. I wondered what they encountered in the school that made them how they were now. Would I also be like that someday?

The thought of it made me shiver as my stomach tied up in knots. I could almost hear mama's scolding.

"It is not something a well mannered young lady will do." she would say.

Mackenzie avoided senior Eira gazes and also stretched out her hand to the senior sluggishly.

Senior Eira scrutinized at our outstretched hands before putting them in hers and teleported us back into the room. It was Mia my gaze first met and I saw the normal Mia look on her face which made me heave a sigh of relief.

"They only collected my blood and left, I dont know why you wasted your time following her. They even promised to bring me a new pair of glasses " she said with her British accent reaching our ears.

Oh poor foolish Mia, she doesn't know. If only she knew!
