"You never mentioned it to me that you were asthmatic", Adrian said, getting on his feet. He gripped her waist firmly, assisting her to also get on her feet. She felt a bit nervous by his touch, although he didn't see it as intimacy. She could still taste his lips on hers.

"Maybe, because you never asked?", she shrugged.

"Right", he concurred, walking her over to a 3-in-1 cushion at the left corner of his office and made her seat comfortably, while he sat next to her.

"How did this come about?", he asked curiously, still bothered about her health.

"Gene, I guess. My dad–

He interrupted, "No, not that. You just had an attack, right?".

"Oh, all the elevators were under servicing. I used the stairs", she stated.

His ears couldn't believe her words when he realized how tiring it could have been.

"My gush, you shouldn't have", he sympathized with her.

"I felt it was kinda urgent", she responded on her honest thoughts.

"I'm so sorry about that. You should have atleast put a call on me...".

If he was informed earlier, he wouldn't have sent for her. He wasn't that heartless of a man.

Well, that never occurred to her.

"It didn't cross my mind, then", she seriously had a lot to think about. Whether she used the stairs or the elevator, it was the least of her problems.

"Think about your health, next time", he advised.

"Sure, thank you", she smiled.

He had forgotten the reason she was there, maybe, a reminder would do.

"You... you sent for me, right?",she asked.

"Actually, yeah. There was something I would like us to talk about...", his mind flashed back to the past scenario.

Was she his suspect?

"Urh, okay...?", she gave a go-ahead impression.

"I would discuss it some other time. I think you need time to relax your mind".

"No, I'm fine", she lied, out of curiosity.

His face tilted to her direction. "Fine. Do you have a hand in it?", he asked with a raised brow.

Her heartbeat skipped twice.

She swallowed her saliva hard till her throat went dried completely, hoping it wasn't what she was thinking. She was scared if he had found out her little secret. Or, if the driver had perhaps, come to drop the document files without her notice.

What if she was exposed already and he was playing around in the dark? She couldn't place the right guess of what exactly was going on his mind. She tried hard to not express her feelings through her eyes and sustain a good eye contact, but her long lashes fluttered in fear.

Her silence was killing him of great suspense. Due to her longing silence, he became damn suspicious about her. It could only mean she was really hiding it away from him since she couldn't defend herself. She was already starting to sweat on her face.

"Zoey?", Adrian snapped.

She stuttered. "I... er–

Right in time, the moment she prayed silently for was finally here. A gentle knock came on his door.
