786. Something Is Wrong

It had been a few days since Madeline and Ferguson moved into the castle. Things were going smoothly, and Mauve wasn't particularly worried about them getting along with vampires. There had been no complaints, and even though they didn't seem to be more comfortable, they weren't worse off.

Ferguson made sure to check on her daily, sometimes with Madeline present, other times with just Jael. Jael didn't let her see Ferguson alone, even though he had to deal with several different issues.

Madeline, fortunately, or unfortunately, had her hands full with Lady Marceline, who bombarded her with questions and summoned her to her room at the slightest whim. She was always asking Madeline questions—most of which she had already heard the answers to—and the delight she took in quizzing Madeline was clear for all to see.
