Foolishly Brave

The Lords noticed King Vladimir's change of mood and knew the reason why he sent his wife away but Lord Luthur chose to be ignorant.

"Did you see the way she was looking at Luthur? I wish the general's daughter could look at me like that." Lord Orpheus said teasingly.

The men were now in the throne room and they were in a serious conversation. They all chose not to talk about what happened in the dining hall but the fearless Lord Orpheus gave them a way to voice their thoughts.

"Yes, I saw that too. Maybe that's the reason why the King sent her away." Lord Raul added.

King Vladimir listened attentively to what they all had to say. As if waiting for the right time to strike. The Lords knew that King Vladimir could hear his wife's thought and got pissed up by it. And they also could hear other people's thoughts apart from theirs.

"King Vladimir are you jealous that your wife had her eyes on Luthur?" Lord Orpheus grinned.

"Shut your lousy mouth up." Lord Louisville intervened. They were all waiting for King Vladimir's response because they knew he'll throw another tantrum at Lord Orpheus who couldn't keep his mouth shut.

To their surprise, King Vladimir let out a sad smile and a frown followed. They haven't seen him smile for a long time. And weren't surprised that the smile didn't last long on his face.

"Who says I'm jealous? I just couldn't figure out the reason why she found Luthur attractive. That's absurd." He protested.

"What's absurd if your wife finds me attractive?" Luthur asked looking upwards to meet King Vladimir's gaze.

The rest of the Lords were tongue-tied as none of them were expecting anything from Luthur who had been quiet ever since.

"Is that a comeback or what?" King Vladimir asked with an ugly expression.

"King Vladimir, I just asked a simple question." Lord Luthur smirked.

The other Lords intervened by voicing out their thought from their perspective.

"I'm not sure King Vladimir married Princess Ariel because he loves her."

From what they saw things, they knew deep in their hearts that both party didn't get married to each other because of love. It must be the other way around.

"I'm doing the Kingdom of Macbeth a favor by marrying her." He uttered. After his statement, a mighty rushing wind blew inside the room and they all knew who came to visit.

"Amira!" They all said in unison.

The Prophetess kept a straight face and went ahead to sit beside King Vladimir.

"I overheard you saying, you're doing the Kingdom of Macbeth a favor by marrying Princess Ariel." The Prophetess said giving the five men a stern gaze but Lord Luthur didn't give a shit about the happenings.

"Of course. I don't like that woman a bit not to talk of love. She's foolishly brave for her own good." King Vladimir complained because Amira was the mastermind of it all.

Foolishly Brave?!

"The King was upset when he found out that Princess Ariel found Lord Luthur attractive by reading her thoughts." Lord Raul added.

"That's the reason he threw a tantrum earlier." Lord Louisville added.

Amira glanced at the quiet and cold-looking Lord. He was the oldest of them all but looked like the youngest.

"And what if she finds him attractive? To be honest, he is more handsome compared to you." Amira teased knowing that Vladimir could be easily pissed up by her word.

Lord Luthur was still unmoved by it. What a cold man!

"It's not that I'm bothered about it. I couldn't help but read her thoughts. I don't wish I couldn't." King Vladimir folds his arms across his chest.

"Be careful what you wish for. I can take that ability away from you but you might need it in the future." Amira warned.

They were all heated up in the conversation. They all voiced out their thought.

"Now that you're married. You should stop or cut off all the intimacy you have with other women. I'll go check in Princess Ariel now." She said and disappeared.

The other Lords left for their various duties before coming back to the palace again to retire for the day. Meanwhile, Amira didn't leave Ariel's side until the lass fell asleep.

Amira wasn't happy that Ariel didn't share a bed with Vladimir and was not surprised about the rules the devilish man laid aside for them to abide by.

She left after reassuring Ariel that things would eventually work out the way she want them and King Vladimir will change for the better.

"You can't expect him to change out of the blue. Make him the man you truly want."

Ariel knew that there was no way she could make King Vladimir fall in love with her and she wasn't bothered by it because she hated him the more now after his statement back then.

"Doing who a favor?" She hissed before she lay on the bed to retire for the night.

Since Ariel had spent some weeks in the castle, her nightmare gave way and the huge unknown creature stopped visiting her. But this time it was different.

The creature's blue eyes became dark and icy smoke was coming out of them much to Ariel's horror. She was frightened to the core, afraid that it might devour her in less than a minute.

Did she make the unknown creature angry or something?

The creature raised its hand wanting to tear her into pieces. The creature succeeds in leaving a scratch on Ariel's face. The latter wailed in pain.

The creature leaned in, moving closer to her and she saw a familiar mark on his face but that didn't give her a hint. She found the creature attractive after staring closely at his face but that didn't stop the pain she was in.

"This is just a warning to you. Stay out of my way." The creature said in a husky voice.

Ariel found the voice to be familiar but the creature was messing with her brain and so that was how she woke up looking terrified with beads of sweat on her forehead. She was panting heavily and required oxygen. She was somehow happy that she didn't scream.
