Under the giant mushroom, Ariel was having a cold tea due to the sunny day. Lord Orpheus had come to accompany her since she couldn't stay all alone by herself, that's what he thought but she could.
Ariel felt uneasy talking to Lord Orpheus unlike before when she was normally free with him. Ever since the incident, she had seen in the courtroom, Ariel had stopped mingling with the Lords thinking that they might all be the same as the cruel King.
The latter's affection and admiration towards Lord Luthur had already subsided. She was drowned in hatred. Lord Orpheus couldn't get through her thoughts no matter how hard he tried. She seemed lost and wasn't giving him enough attention unlike before.
"Princess, why aren't you giving me a listening ear?" Lord Orpheus complained trying to gain an audience from her.
The princess in question turned to face him after taking a sip from her cold tea. She wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone of them including the Prophetess. She had painted them all black, using the cruel sin of her husband to define them.
All she needed was fresh air and not the sunny weather that had blocked the fresh air she demanded. As if nature could listen to her thoughts, she felt the fuzzy breeze kissing every part of her skin and she loved it and wished for the man sitting next to her to disappear from her sight because they were nothing but evil creatures; cannibals.
Lord Orpheus was sad that he wasn't getting her attention and he didn't know why. He stood up and left much to her satisfaction.
During dinner, it was also the same attitude she gave them. King Vladimir didn't even bother to sort things out, but Lord Orpheus was worried.
Ariel saw Lord Raul eating peacefully with them and he didn't even utter a word. The room was tense and the atmosphere was heavy. She could manage.
Just like always, the blabbermouth lord broke the silence. He was an extreme extrovert and hated a quiet environment.
"What's with all these?" He asked almost yelling making everyone present turn to him in curiosity.
Why was he throwing a tantrum?
For once in a lifetime, Lord Luthur was the one to answer his question. Lord Orpheus was too childish for his liking.
"What's with what?" He asked dropping his chopstick.
Lord Orpheus glared at the man who answered his question with a heavy voice and then turned to Princess Ariel who was eating peacefully without being affected by the ongoing commotion.
"Princess Ariel, what's going on?" Lord Orpheus asked. He couldn't take it any longer, seeing the little lass trying to avoid him in her little way.
Ariel raised her head, gazing into his eyes with a serious expression. "You know, we all need to learn good propped eating habits." Ariel retorted with such boldness that surprised everyone.
Even her maids that were standing behind her were in awe. Never in their wildlife have they seen their mistress talk like this. No one has ever talked back at the Lords in such a manner.
King Vladimir smirked, he knew he was the genesis of what was happening and the reason behind his wife's attitude.
On the other hand, Lord Orpheus was affected by Ariel's words. Never in his life has he been insulted. He took Ariel's words as an insult but didn't dare to make his anger known.
He was the most jovial of them all but he also had a bad temper.
"And who are you referring to in such a manner?" Came Lord Louisville's response.
The man has been calm ever since they started having their meal. The statement Ariel made didn't sit right with them and he had to interfere.
None of them knew the reason behind her behavior and found it strange. Everyone except King Vladimir.
Ariel didn't respond to the question that was thrown at her by Lord Louisville. She had succeeded in making the Lords hate her.
But about the strange one that was sitting opposite her, she couldn't tell if he hated her or not because his face was void of any emotions.
She looked straight into his eyes but he wasn't looking at her even though he was gazing in her direction. Ariel couldn't bring herself to hate him but she hated her husband so much and was also feeling guilty for hurting the jovial Lord's feelings even though she wanted to.
"I'd take my leave now." Ariel left the room without the permission of anyone as if she even needed their permission.
Her maids followed her from behind and Lord Orpheus the ed to face King Vladimir who had been quiet throughout the meal just like Lord Raul.
"Do have a hand concerning her sudden change of attitude?" Lord Orpheus asked. He was hurt by Ariel's behavior.
King Vladimir smirked and he felt like slapping the smirk off his face. "Do I look like someone who cares?"
By that statement, Lord Luthur glared at him. If looks could kill a person, King Vladimir could have died on that spot.
"You don't care?" Lord Luthur interjected.
"Why should I?"
With his immediate response, Lord Luthur left the dining hall with a sour face. His mood had been ruined by the so-called king.
"King Vladimir, I tell you this, you are not worthy to have Princess Ariel and not worthy to have her love. Amira was blind to have a match made the both of you." Lord Orpheus poured out his emotions and what he had in mind. He used his fist to hit the table with an ugly expression on his face.
They didn't know what caused the crash between the loveless couples but that didn't matter as far as the king doesn't care about his wife.
He shouldn't have gotten married to her in the first place and his response about that was always him doing the Kingdom of Macbeth a favor by marrying their precious princess.
"Her happiness doesn't matter to me!"
