It was reported to the members of the court that Princess Ariel was unconscious. They couldn't believe what was happening. Without a King, the Kingdom would be useless.
"I just can't believe this is happening!" One of the magistrates said, shaking his head in disbelief.
"We'll go in search of the King and maybe things can be sorted out" Lord Orpheus suggested.
The members of the court didn't buy his idea and were somewhat confused. Where would he start with the search?
There were no traces. How would he track the King?
The Lords that were present in the courtroom knew what was going on in the magistrate's and other officials' minds. As soon as Lord Orpheus wanted to defend himself so that they won't be confused, Lord Louisville butted in.
"No traces were left behind and as the Lords of Vallat, we would do whatever it takes to look for the King." He spoke with so much confidence.
Everyone in the courtroom was in support of the word that came out of Lord Louisville's mouth. He spoke with so much dignity and confidence.
The officials glanced at the throne. It was void and they all missed seeing the king. Most of them were happy since there would be no one around to scold them when they slack off from their duties.
"The absence of the King doesn't mean that you all are going to slack off from duty." Lord Orpheus warned.
Minds can be read, hidden secrets can be revealed, and thoughts won't be left out.
"What about the King's wife?"
"Don't you know she's in an unconscious state?" Lord Luthur asked with his head bowed. He hasn't spoken a word since the meeting and his head remained lowered.
"No offense, Lord Luthur. We're just showing concern for the king's wife." Theo intervened.
They all turned to look at the king's assistant named Theo.
Theo gulped hard as he felt daggers coming out from their glares.
"Theo, what position are you to show concern for the King's wife?" Lord Luthur asked.
Lord Luthur wasn't a person to be messed around with and Theo was aware of that. He remembered what happened to Scott and he imagined being in Scott's position while the one to feast on him would be Lord Luthur.
It would be a terrible experience for him and he wasn't going to live to voice out his experience.
"You remembered what happened to Scott, right?" Lord Luthur asked with all his attention on Theo. The young assistant had managed to gain an audience from the dreadful Lord.
"Yes... I remember!" Theo answered with a shaky voice. He was scared that today might be his end and regretted ever butting into their conversation.
Lord Luthur didn't spare him a glance afterward and just left the room.
The place was silent. Everyone eagerly waited for someone to volunteer to break the silence. Just as they wished, Lord Louisville was the one to make an announcement.
"There'll be a meeting once the Princess has regained consciousness." He promulgated.
They all used the exit door. Everyone except Lord Orpheus who was busy staring continuously at the throne before leaving.
"We'll just have to look for the king then." He sighed before leaving.
On the other hand, the body of the Princess was still lying unconsciously on the bed.
Sabre remained calm as the physician examined her body. The elder maid wanted the physician to see the red mark on her neck and so the physician did.
"Was she attacked by an animal?" The physician asked.
It was obvious that an animal used its sharp claws to wound her.
Was it an animal or what?
"We heard her scream while she was in the bathroom," Nadia revealed.
The physician nodded.
Suddenly they noticed that the Princess's body was shaking and endless sweats were forming on her body.
"What's happening?" The handmaid of the princess asked in unison.
The physician examined the princess's body and there was a confused look on his face.
The body was shaking non-stop. The sweats were coming out of nowhere as the part she was lying on was soaked as a result of it.
It was getting out of hand and the Lord's attention was needed. The physician apologized for failing to see the happenings.
But it wasn't the latter's fault as it was beyond his powers.
The Lords were the ones to know what was happening to the princess's body. Both the maids nor the physician haven't seen anything like it before. They were scared to the core.
Sabre was afraid of losing both the king and her mistress.
Nadia wanted her mistress to join the king in the afterlife, he was there.
As soon as the physician left, the Lords rushed in on hearing what was happening. The physician and the maids were dismissed and they were left with the shaking body of the princess.
Lord Luthur went out to consult the physician so that he would know what happened to the unconscious body.
He was lucky to have met the physician walking down the hallway. He called out to the man in a white robe and the man halted.
"My Lord!" The man in the white robe bowed.
The man he was going to didn't give a damn about his greetings. "Keep the greetings. What happened to Princess Ariel?" Was the question that came out of his mouth.
"My Lord, while I was examining the mark on her neck, her body started vibrating all of a sudden with sweat all over her body." The physician revealed.
This was a piece of unfamiliar news to Lord Luthur. Not in his life has he heard of such critical news!
What mark was the man in the white robe talking about? He thought and left the man's presence to where he found the rest Lords, inside the princess room.
Lord Raul, the now silent one moved forward to examine the princess's body.
"Her soul has left her body!"
When a person's soul has departed from their body, it means the person was dead.
