A White Wolf!

Opening her locker, Scarlett took a few notes before facing Tucker. Since what happened last night, she hasn't spoken to him. There was no way to text or call him.

"Can we talk?" Leaning against the locker next to hers, he questioned. Scarlett turned her head in his direction.

"Sure." As she spoke, she was holding her books. "What is this about, Tucker?"

"I tried to call you last night, but there was no answer. Didn't you get my text? I texted you more than nine times."

Scarlett sighed. "Last night on the way home, I misplaced my phone."

"Oh. Ah. I had no idea."

"Of course you wouldn't. Why exactly are you here?"

Tucker leaned in close. "I…Look. I just wanted to apologise for what Cassy said last night. She…"

Scarlett interrupted. "No. Cassy is merely acting defensively. I totally understand her. If I were the one, I would have done the same thing if someone had an eye on my boyfriend. Tucker, I don't hold her responsible for what she said to me last night. You and I share this…" She struggled to find the right phrase.

"Connection?" He completed it.

Scarlett remained silent. She did nothing but stand there and look at him.

"Scar," he chuckled. "We both feel things that we can't deny." He attempted to take her hand, but she resisted. "You know. I didn't realise your red hair was gone until I saw you walking into the hall today."

Closer to her chest, she held the book. "Really?"

"Last night, I didn't even notice anything else besides your face because you were so gorgeous."

Scarlett laughed. "If you keep saying this to me, your girlfriend won't like it if she gets to know."

"Cassy and I will be over soon. I promise. I'll make things right for you when that time comes."

Scarlett scoffed. "Tucker, you keep saying this, and this is how many times you've said it. Accept that you are in love with Cassy." She locked her locker and tried to stay as composed as she could. Changing the subject will also help her avoid feeling foolish because the boy she had loved her entire life chose someone else.

"How did your weekend go?" She asked. Immediately, Scarlett felt stupid. Of course, she is aware of this weekend. He obviously put on the party last night.

"We won the game. That was the reason a party was held last night. Truth be told, I hadn't counted on seeing you."

"I know. You said so yesterday."

Tucker laughed. "However, your black hair looks great on you." Scarlett didn't take her eyes off of him as he continued to stare.

"I'm not sure about that, though." She laughed. Her hand took strands of her hair as she felt them. "The red hair made me look powerful," she added, and he grinned even more.

As they both carry on speaking, Scarlett's thoughts stray. She lost her train of thought, and Tucker snapped his finger to bring her back to reality. "Are you still here?"

"Uh?" He asked, and she gave him a perplexed look. "Ye-yes. I am." Scarlett said right away. She paused for a second to gather her thoughts. Scarlett was certain that something was wrong with her. Scarlett was not directly in front of or next to the person who was speaking about her being at school when her father had just passed away, but she could still hear the person's voice.

The noise in the crowded hallway grew louder, and Scarlett could hear every word some students were whispering to their friends.

"Are you all right?" She looked at Tucker with wide eyes after he asked. She quickly gave her head a nod.

"I'm good. I'm good. I just need to use the bathroom." After turning away from him, Scarlett began to walk away.

"Should I come with you?" Tucker asked.

Scarlett stopped abruptly. She turned around. "Seriously?" Tucker was embarrassed to have said that at all. Scarlett shook her head. "I'll speak with you later, Tucker." In a hurry, Scarlett left the hallway and went to the restroom.

As soon as she was inside the bathroom, she took the bag off her shoulder, placed it on the floor, and locked the door. She poured water into her hand, raised her face, and looked at herself in the mirror.

You're alright, Scar. You are doing great. She thought to herself.

She wasn't losing her mind; she was sure of that.

The sound of the water flowing from the faucet was louder than usual. Scarlett turned it off and tried to catch her breath.

The hair at the nape of her neck was also pulled when she pulled her hair into a ponytail. More water drops falling from the pipes could be heard by her ears, which also moved on their own.

"Scarlett has the best hair. She looks even more attractive with black hair than I ever imagined." She started to hear a voice say. It was coming through the window. She went to look outside, but she was unable to identify the speaker.

How was it that she could hear conversations well enough from where she was?

"You have a point. She is lovely, and I really wish I had her life," said a different girl.

What's going on with me? She questioned herself as she returned to the mirror.

After giving herself a long look in the mirror, Scarlett was startled to see the reflection of a white animal. She let out a loud gasp at the suddenness of it and immediately turned her face away.

The creature was white and resembled a wolf. An innocent white wolf.

Her heartbeat increased. I'm dreaming. A really bad dream, but everything will be alright when I wake up. Right? She panicked and began talking to herself. She was still thinking about how the terrible bite had recovered, and now this sudden white wolf? What the heck?

Am I going insane?

When Scarlett realised she wasn't dreaming at all, she started to laugh hysterically. She then turned back to the mirror to try to process everything, but the mirror was already broken.

"How?..." Her heart was beating so rapidly again. "How is this possible?" She drew a pattern across the ice-crystal cracks of the mirror with her hand. Slowly.

A short while later, the white wolf surfaced once more, staring directly into Scarlett's eyes. This time, she couldn't take her eyes off the wolf, and its golden eyes didn't avert from hers either.

Is this a dream?

Then she suddenly heard even though the wolf's mouth was still. "Hello, Scarlett." Scarlett was so sure it came out from the white wolf staring at her in the mirror.
