Avery scoffed over the phone. "Mia. Do you realize that we have school this morning? I mean, who even put you in charge?" 


"I came up with the plans, Avery. It won't hurt if you both skip class today." 


"You are not even permitted to skip school." 


"Just come over. And we will talk. My mother believes I have a cold, so she informed the school of my absence. Scarlett will also be absent from school. They got into an argument after she remembered everything." Mia had called them the day before after her conversation with Scarlett. Avery and Cornelia were both shocked. They wanted to come over when they heard the news, but Mia stopped them. "Scarlett is angry." She had said. "If she sees your faces, she might not be so forgiving. You should give her a break and show up tomorrow." She had added. 


"She'll be furious at us for lying to her." Mia overheard Cornelia say.
