Waiting for Dawn

In front of the entrance, the blue carriage rang loudly.

Looking out the window with sleepy eyes, Butler suddenly opened wide when the blue carriage arrived. He immediately rushed to open the front door to welcome Necrosis' precious guest.

"Welcome, Sir Dylan. The Duke is waiting for you."

"I brought a birthday present for grandfather."

"But, by the way, those sacks, could it be..."

The butler looked worried when he saw some of the sacks carried by Dylan, who were starting to get watery.

"Yes, this is a gift for my grandfather's birthday."

"What gifts are in there anyway?" The butler doubted his vision. It was thick black blood.

"I've been hunting for something my grandfather would like for his birthday. Better take the gift out and make it look good when I give it to my grandfather."

"...."

The butler looked horrified when he saw the head of a giant snake falling from the sack. The thick blood immediately splattered on the carpet.

"That's the snake from Weyfell Den Cave."

The servants were a little panicked when they saw that the snake Dylan brought was a snake from Weyfell Den Cave. The residence of the giant man-eating snakes.

Without waiting for a second, the butler immediately summoned the servants to decorate the snake's head as Dylan requested to make it look beautiful.

"Is he really Dylan Codwald?" A maid who was decorating Dylan's gift asked the old servant.

"Yeah, he only comes to visit the Overlord every year."

"How can that bastard look proud when he enters the main estate of Necrosis? He looks like he wants to show that he is nobler than a true noble."

"...."

The old maid didn't dare to comment on Dylan. It's not his right to do that. The Duke and his descendants never accepted a servant's opinion or thoughts, they only wanted obedient servants.

Dylan was striking, enormous, and powerful-looking compared to other the duke grandchildren. It made his cousin no one dared to touch him even though he had betrayed the Necrosis Family.

In a corner of the vast Necrosis estate all the maids with confused expressions flocked into a room which was the maids' room.

"No one is allowed into the mansion during General Dylan's visit." exclaimed the headmaid. She asked the maids to rest early even though it was still noon.

It was a joy for the maids to escape the tiring work, but it also scared some. It was not uncommon for Necrosis to let the maids rest before nightfall.

Some of them thought that some punishment was waiting for them.

Ellaine, who was part of the housekeeper, was also forced to enter the room. Even though she had become Oliver's secretary, there were no privileges for her except for a higher salary than maids.

Working as Oliver's secretary, Ellaine earned 120 gold coins a month.

It was a huge salary, but... She had never received the money. This happens because she is not actually paid to clear her debt. It was simply not enough to eliminate her debt of 16,000 gold coins.

'Why are all the maids barred from welcoming Dylan suddenly?' Ellaine grumbled.

Even though she was in a hurry to take a shower and change clothes so she could sneak between the maids to greet Dylan.

Her plan failed minutes before Dylan arrived. The head maid suddenly issued a sudden order.

Ellaine was still worried about the purpose of Dylan coming to the mansion.

***

Night comes non-stop.

Ellaine, sitting on the narrow bed, looked at the dark blue robe on her lap, which had been washed.

Ellaine stroked the cloak.

"Dylan Codwald."

She, who works with Oliver's spies, knows all about Dylan.

'High general, the youngest grandson of the Duke and hero of the empire... The only Necrosis descendant with the coveted eye passed down in the noble house.'

Dylan inherited the mythical wolf-like red eyes that indicate the origin of the Necrosis wolf.

Being Oliver's henchman had extended her life by several years. But that meant nothing after Ellaine discovered her loyalty would be betrayed.

She bit her lip. There was nothing she could do to prolong her life.

Amid the stalemate, she suddenly remembered that she knew some secrets and information regarding the Necrosis Family.

If Ellaine can't stop Oliver's plans, she needs to find someone who has a grudge against him.

Ellaine remembered Dylan's face.

'Can I get help from him?'

When going to sleep, she suddenly heard the servants who had just finished cleaning up the party in the hall.

"The hall was very tense."

"If only the duke had been present, this might not have happened."

"To think those bastards don't like women and kick them out. After all, those noble ladies are the duke's choice."

"Looks like he wants to ask the duke for an explanation of what just happened."

"Yeah, that's why he's staying here tonight."

From the conversation with the servants, she got two essential things.

'Yes!! Dylan is here only to attend Lord's birthday. And the most important thing is that he is still in this mansion.' A small smile formed on her face.

Since all the maids were in the bedroom, she just had to wait for everyone to fall asleep. She lay down without wrapping herself in the blanket and waited until dawn.

'Tonight, let's approach Dylan.'
