Visiting the Wolf

It was dawn when everyone went to bed. Ellaine carefully got up from her bed.

The servants lived in a small building separate from the mansion.

The maid's room was dark at night because it was only lit by a spirit stone that shone permanently. It was a mercy that was only given to that small building.

Ellaine took out a candlestick from under her bed.

The girls who slept in the same room as she fell asleep in silence. Sometimes, only someone was heard snoring.

Ellaine couldn't even change clothes as it would cause a huge commotion.

She planned to use the excuse of returning the cloak to talk to Dylan.

Even though it wasn't a good reason to disturb him at dawn, she didn't have any more time. She must persuade Dylan to save her from the death penalty.

Ellaine walked out of the room in her pajamas under Dylan's cloak. She only brought a book documenting the secrets of the Necrosis family.

While walking on tiptoe, she reached the entrance of the mansion. The door was locked outside with a triple lock. Not even a snake could escape.

But since she had gained a lot of knowledge about the secrets of the Necrosis family's mansion, she knew a way to get inside without needing to go through the door.

'If I remember correctly, there should be a secret passage in the pavilion.'

Ellaine moved towards the entrance of the pavilion, which was a building not far from the mansion.

'Dylan should be in the room he grew up in every time he visits the Necrosis estate.'

Dylan's past in the Necrosis family was pretty bad. From her information, Dylan had been maltreated as a child. He grew up in a small, shabby room near the stairs.

Dylan was an illegitimate child. Even though he was an unwanted child but he was still a Necrosis.

As a child, he was educated very hard. Even one day, the head of the family visited little Dylan and improved his habits.

Little Dylan had a habit of locking himself in his room for days because of his father's discriminatory behavior.

Although his grandfather's upbringing succeeded in changing Dylan's habits, after growing up and becoming a respected general, he only lives in that room when he visits the Necrosis estate.

Ellaine removed her footsteps and climbed the stairs of the second-floor hall.

Getting closer to Dylan's room worried Ellaine.

The problem was that Ellaine couldn't just walk up and knock on the door because she wanted to return the cloak.

'Am I going to be killed if I interrupt his rest time?'

A creature like Ellaine might lose a life easily just by disturbing a resting wolf or saying the wrong thing to Dylan.

'Even if I have to die, I must still do it... He must pay my debt to Oliver if he kills me.'

As Oliver's property, perhaps Dylan would be charged with murder.

'If I miss this opportunity, my future life will be even more tragic. Dying under the Guillotine wasn't the future I hoped for.'

Ellaine also reached the top of the stairs on the 2nd floor. There wasn't any room there, as reported. There was only a statue of a white wolf with blood-red eyes. A white wolf that is intimidating its enemy and showing sharp fangs.

'If I remember correctly, one of the fangs of this wolf is the lever.'

Since the wolf was 2.3 meters tall, Ellaine had difficulty clapping the statue's fangs.

'A little bit more...'

A black room opened as Ellaine managed to smack the shortest fangs. A hidden secret passage revealed itself.

Ellaine quickly crawled into the narrow passage. Soon the door closed by itself.

Ellaine accidentally discovered the secret passage while she was still a contract servant and was asked to clean the wolf statue alone.

The old nobles sometimes made their way out in case of an emergency. Because it was transmitted in secret, many secret paths were forgotten even by the descendants of Necrosis.

Only by relying on the lighting of the candlestick in her hand she opened her book.

She had drawn a map of the secret passages she had found.

The secret passage was connected to the rest of the building and the mansion. It is also connected to the second and third floors, mainly used by family members.

The first time she used the secret passage was to find a safe place to cry and find peace at night. Then at dawn, she returned to the room.

She was completely unaware that the empty room she often stayed in was Dylan's.

'I can't imagine it being a High General's room.'

Because Dylan came home once a year, she thought the room was empty.

She no longer goes to the room after reading reports from Oliver's spies who failed to kill him.

'Forty-three spies disguised as prostitutes. She died in the room near the stairs.'

When she reached the end of the hall, the secret door opened without a sound.

'This is dazzling...'

A light entered her eyes. She came out in an empty cupboard in Dylan's room.

She didn't see Dylan in the room through a small gap in the cupboard. But there was the sound of dripping water from inside the bathroom.
