Chapter 8: An Interrupted Dinner

Mind swimming with what she saw last night, Gina told herself to not worry about it and focus on impressing the CEO. Her credentials were stuffed in her briefcase, paper copies of certificates and various lab reports. Sure, she had gotten hired onto the company, but that was step one - advancement could always do for a reminder as to why, no matter how soon these opportunities presented themselves.

She emerged from the bus, staring at the large house before her. It wasn’t a mansion like she expected, but still enormous, and a reminder of her situation. She walked by a slightly overgrown yard, making a note in her mind about it being charming. To Gina, taming nature a bit too much wasn’t as pretty as people liked to pretend.
