Chapter 44: Gina’s Epiphany

Everything hurt.

Gina moaned, feeling as though all of her nerves were on fire. Her cheeks were wet with tears, but her brow was furrowed, and she felt anger billowing in her belly. Could it be from Zaros? Maybe. But she knew most of it was her own. She clenched her jaw, tied unceremoniously to a chair with a rope across her abdomen, then another with her hands behind the chair itself, bound by wrist. The rope was tight, intentionally uncomfortable, so she assumed.

‘They think I’m some weak little human because I am so new to this world,’ she thought to herself. ‘They want to use me against Zaros. As a tool. A damsel in distress. I’ll show them distress. Their own… somehow.’ To be honest, she didn’t know how, but she needed to do something. She couldn’t just rely on the pack to bail her out.
