Fleeing (1/2)

Jason slowly backed up closer to the window, unlocking the knobs on it and lightly shoving it.

Fresh air flew into the room, a frigid breeze flowing gently on Jason's neck.

In the next second, the alien launched its tentacle forward, impaling a student in her neck. Instantly, blood gushed out of the wound.

She frantically clutched her throat, trying to get the slightest breath as its attack downright destroyed her windpipe, yet it was all meaningless.

She collapsed to the ground, lifeless. A pond of crimson blood, an amount comparable to his last life before he died flooded the floor around her, causing the student's screams to intensify.

Not wasting any precious time, Jason vaulted out the window, erupting in a full-force sprint across the campus.

He could hear the havoc ensuing in the school. Pleas of help, the noises aliens made while claiming the lives of students, overall a massacre.

Jason's speed increase was exponential, he was at least 15% faster than previously.

As for his stamina, it was only 1 less than his agility, so he was expecting an increase of the same extent as his speed.

An alien slowly came out of a school classroom, entering the vast schoolyard, the alien was only 50 meters from where Jason was.

The chances they meet each other in the next few seconds were high- unfortunately high.

However, this didn't phase Jason in the slightest. He wouldn't die again.

[Enemy within 50 meters.]

Jason read the notification and dismissed it.

Not stopping his sprint, he bent down and picked up a handful of sand, gripping tightly to conserve it as much as possible.

He straightened himself and locked his eyes on the alien, preparing to obstruct its vision using the sand and escape.

Jason came into the alien's vision, and instantly it started charging toward Jason at high speeds, but for Jason who was near as fast as the fastest man in the world, the alien's speed was barely evadable.

Leaving deep holes everywhere its tentacles dug, acting as supports for its heft weight as it neared Jason.

Swinging it like a whip, its tentacle was directed at Jason's head. If it connected, his head would slice right in half, meaning instant death.

Simply lowering his body, he evaded it, instantaneously throwing the handful of sand at the alien's eye.

After successfully obstructing its vision, he quickly began sprinting, wrapping around a corner and successfully fleeing from the alien.

It could've easily hunted Jason because of his footsteps, yet its intelligence was too low.

[+10 EXP - Successfully escaping a Saljur.]

Jason had a pleased look on his face, he gained EXP in such a short time. 'Might be easier than I thought.'

"SQUEE" The alien squealed in pain and irritation, wiping the soft, gooey side of its tentacle on its eye.

After getting enough sand off to see, the alien frowned, as in front of him was a medium-sized field of grass and a few trees.

"SQUEEE" The alien let out another squeal in anger, as its prey got away, a simple thing to make a predator's day bad.

For Jason, he was on the same sidewalk he ran previously. Countless cars were speeding at blazing speeds past him, and gusts of wind hit Jason, blowing his black hair in the wind.

He ran past a few closed stores, eventually reaching an open one.

Jason could see blood splattered all over the walls, hand smears, and the most disgusting sight to see- dismembered bodies with blood still flowing out.

The reaction it had on Jason was less than before, as this same exact sight was in his last life.

Despite that, he couldn't stop himself to puke a bit. The sight was plainly too gruesome for him to bear.

His eyes flickered with resolution, and he resumed his run.

After a few minutes, he ultimately reached the same highway as before. Yet what differentiated is the fact he could still see people fleeing from their cars, yet from the way Jason came.

"What are you guys doing! Go that way towards the exit! The town is filled with aliens!"

Jason yelled at them, waving his hands towards the exit. Yet he simply received odd looks, and not a single person reacted to him, nor followed his instructions.

'That boy, he's going to get himself killed! What is that idiot doing!' A father said to himself in his head, questioning the actions of Jason.

He wouldn't stop himself to save Jason. He left his daughter, so why wouldn't he also leave him?

Jason slowed down as he approached the all too familiar car containing the baby.

As he reached it, he was at a walking pace, and swiftly he opened the door, diving his body in, ignoring the fervent air that once again blew in his face.

Immediately, he unbuckled the baby, sticking the pacifier in her mouth. Like a seasoned parent.

However, something odd happened.

As soon as the baby's icy blue eyes landed on Jason, she stopped crying. In fact, her lips curled up in a smile and started giggling.

Even reaching her arms out to Jason. As cute as it was, Jason had no time to fathom the endearing actions. He immediately began running.

Why was the baby's reaction different? There wasn't a sure reason, but Jason had one explanation- that the baby also went back in time...

Remembering him.

Whatever the reason was, Jason could think about it in a future time- when he's alive and away.

There was a tremendous time gap to get away compared to last time. Last time, as soon as he began walking, the alien saw him.

But with his increased agility, he has a couple of minutes to escape and hope to not get seen by the Saljurs.

[Notification: 2 Stat points Unallocated.]

The red message shimmered in front of his face again. And it brought delightful news for Jason.

'Put both into agility.' Jason simply stated, and so it did.

[Agility - 8 > 10]

His heart began racing. What felt like liquid flowed throughout his body, especially his legs.

It wasn't a bad feeling nor a pleasurable one, but he could tell the system was doing work.

After a few seconds, his body felt normal again. Jason's body felt lighter and easier to move. Even more, he was more flexible than before.

'This feels wonderful!' He said with a stretch, letting out a small groan amidst the havoc in his city.

Jason's speed now exceeded most professional Olympic runners, probably the same speed as the legendary runner Usain Bolt.

With such an explosive boost in speed, Jason immediately noticed how fast he was.

The cars were a slight blur, the wind fiercely blew his hair backward, and his legs moved as fast as ever.

The baby in his hands let out a few giggles as he ran, clinging tightly to Jason's school uniform.

"BRR BRR"

Jason's pocket vibrated lightly, coupled with the ringing of his phone.

[Mom is calling.] The system informed him.

He hesitantly picked the phone up, deciding whether he should keep running or not, but who knows if it'd be his last time talking to them.

"Mom?"

"Honey! Are you okay dear? There are these purple aliens everywhere!"

"I'm fine for the moment mom, I'm running on the highway to get out of the city, it's infested with them." He said in a low tone, looking at the baby on his chest.

Through tears, his mother kept talking. "Okay honey, -sniffle-, we'll be driving to the Valley soon, stay safe okay? Mom loves you." Jason felt heartbroken, hearing his mother cry.

"I love you too, mom." He quickly replied, and hung up. Taking a moment to stare at his wallpaper.

In the middle was Jason surrounded by his family, who were in another city.

His mother and father were considered tall. His dad reached 6 '4 and his mother was 5'9. Naturally, Jason was tall, growing to 6 feet at only 14. He also inherited the track-like speed from his father although not at its greatest.

His eyes were like his mother's, delicate and radiant. His elegant facial features from his father, even the silky smooth black hair.

The difference is his father's was short.

Jason in the picture was only 8 at the time. He had tremendous interests in sports like soccer and such, leading him to be a massive fan of the Fifa franchise.

He reminisced about when he could see his family anytime, play video games all the time, and when it was fun.

He slid his phone into his back pocket and exhaled a deep breath, and wore eyes with determination.

"Alright… Let's go." He said to the baby- not like she could understand him anyway.
