Chapter Twenty-One

Jet POV

I cannot believe my little brother is still alive, it's been ten years and there was no sign of him and after the release of the photos showing the royals were murdered alongside others from the royal kingdom, we assumed that he was gone too.

We were shocked when dad came home to tell us that Conner was alive alongside Sofia and the twins, but he didn't mention Angelica or Nicholas, he had said there was a she-wolf with two siblings though and he had hoped that Jennifer was actually Angelica, how I have missed her alongside my brother, she was my closest friend growing up.

My dad got us far away as possible after the attack as per the royal's request, we were to stay hidden and train alongside other packs ready for the day when the war would begin, however without Angelica there was not much hope. The prophecy said that a female alpha would rise from the ashes to take down our foe starting a new era of peace.

Watching them I couldn't believe how well the pups were fighting, even my brother was taking on one of the pack's warriors with ease knocking him to the ground. When she brought out the weapons, I felt the air around me vibrate with tension, why the hell was she letting pups use weapons, but I could feel my dad slowly calm as he watched Conner and Samuel duelling, he looked almost pensive with their movements.

Waiting for her outside the training grounds now as she did her cool down laps, I listened to the tense conversations with the alphas and betas, they didn't seem happy but were also impressed with how she trained them. Chris had even scolded Thomas from attacking before confirming Sofia was in actual danger, he was taking is role as stepfather incredibly serious which made auntie Calli happy.

"Jet, you are looking very thoughtful there" my father states "wouldn't be on a certain she-wolf, would it?" he chuckles.

"There is something about her dad."

"I have to agree with you. I cannot believe how well she can fight. I think I would even have trouble fighting her." Now that is a statement dad was the beta of the king and they were two of the strongest wolves in the kingdom. "I wonder who trained her." He muses.

"Dad, do you think she really could be Angelica?" I whisper to him "do you think they trained her before they got caught?"

"No, they couldn't have, she wouldn't have been of age to learn to fight." he doesn't look convinced though "Does Shadow recognise her wolf? You both were closer than anyone."

"Shadow cannot feel her wolf dad. It is like she doesn't have one. Can you feel her?"

"No, I can't. It is as though she is human. If it is her though we cannot let anyone else know. It could put her in danger."

"What should we do?"

"Well, we will firstly get to know your brother. He seems to have grown to be an amazing person and we have missed enough time with him."

"Dad! Jet!" Conner yells across to us before sprinting across to us "are you staying here tonight?"

"No sorry son we don't want to overstep our welcome."

"Oh ok. I should get back to help Jenni get the pups ready for bed"

"Pups?" we say in unison.

"Yes, I help Jenni along with Sam to get the other pups to bed" I look at the location he is pointing at.

"All of them son?"

"Yeah. Jenni looks after us all. Well did, all have them have been adopted apart from Sam and Lily and Scott is partially adopted. Anyway, she is looking after us all tonight whilst the adults celebrate." He rolls his eyes.

"How many of you were there?" Dad says stunned.

"Twenty-five of us."

"How old is Jenni?" I ask trying to work out how one wolf could look after so many pups some of them look really young.

"Seventeen, why?"

"No reason bro. Just a lot of pups for one person to look after is all. Didn't someone else help?"

"No, the pack we were in were...well I don't really want to talk about it at the moment." His eyes show the pain and terror that he has been through, and I cannot fathom what horrors he must have been through. "I hope to see you soon. I will get to see you soon, right?"

"You're not getting rid of us that quickly bud. It's just being in different packs is tricky."

"What is tricky?" Jenni makes us jump how did she sneak up on us.

"Being in different packs, they say they can't stay and-" Conner starts

"Woah, woah hold your horses. You trust me right" she winks at Conner, stopping his panic before it can fully settle in.

"With my life" he mutters with no doubt at all in his voice.

"Hey Alpha Joe, Alpha Chris" she cheerily calls abruptly turning towards the alphas "So, no one has killed each other or anything, well yet" she chuckles "and I know it's kind of a big ask but any chance the families can stay here for the night?"

"Oh, please do say yes Alpha's. I have organised rooms in case anyone wanted to stay." Luna Sarah says stepping around the corner of the training grounds. "If no one wants to stay though that is fine too."

"Alpha, Thomas, can we?" Calli asks them both.

"I don't see why not if it is ok with Alpha Joe." He turns to Alpha Joe, and I observe him slightly tilting his head in respect what the actual fuck. He has never shown anyone respect, he has always been a ruthless alpha. I have to shake my head to make sure I am not dreaming; I see others doing the same "And maybe we could talk about a treaty between our packs tomorrow once we are all well rested. If that is something you might be interested in that is and maybe sort something where the families can come freely between the territories until the pups, feel comfortable."

"Alpha Chris" Alpha Joe bows "it would be our pleasure to host you. And I would love to hear your ideas on a treaty. Would you care to join me for a drink before we retire for the night?"

"Hmm…you better have some good stuff." Chris smirks making Alpha Joe laugh.

"Of course. Come on let's go to my office whilst Sarah shows everyone else to their rooms."

"Oh, Jennifer if it is ok, I would love to talk to you about maybe training with some of my warriors."

"As long as it is ok with Alpha Joe, I would be more than happy to talk about training." she bows before taking off now she has somehow managed to give us an opportunity to stay.

"I like that pup. Who are her parents?" Chris asks smiling after her.

"She is an orphan from the Red Moon Pack well that is a nice version of it anyway."

"Nice?"

"I suppose I should tell you the story of our recent orphans. You're going to need that drink though or maybe two or three." He sighs.

"Come on Jet lets catch up with Conner and Jenni. See if we can help with anything" Dad suggests drawing me away from the alpha's conversation and any information that could piece together the puzzle it came to Conner and the others.
