Chapter Sixty-Three

It is going from one thing to another and time is not on my side. It is my birthday soon and I need to be well aware from the pack when I do. Knocking on the door I am welcomed in straight away. Alpha Rick is sitting with his ankle crossed on his knee in front of Alpha Joe's desk looking like the cat got the cream, Councilman Daryll not looking any different. I'm not surprised though they have been in cahoots for years.

"Thank you for coming so quickly Jennifer." Alpha Joe sighs, the use of my full first name tells me that this isn't some social chat and that this is serious and to top it off something to do with me. "Councilman Daryll, wants to take me and you to the council due to breaking the law of training a female warrior."

"Training?" I question back raising my eyebrow, and giving him a cheeky wink when the two accusers turn to face Alpha Joe.

"Yes. Alpha Rick has observed you fighting and training warriors."

"That is true Councilman Daryll but you are accusing Alpha Joe for training a female warrior. One I have never received anything apart from bog standard defence training here and two I am not a warrior."

"If you not a warrior, how can you train?" Alpha Rick snaps.

"Do be fair. Everything I learnt I knew before coming to this pack." Alpha Rick frowns in confusion, yeah I didn't let you know but how else did you think I kept the pups safe when the pack got attacked." And there is nothing to say I cannot train warriors only that I cannot become a warrior. I know the laws very well and I can promise you that me nor this pack have broken any of them. However, if you want to look closely at the law, I advise going back a couple of months ago. Where councilman visited Alpha Rick's pack and had a meeting with Alpha Rick, his Beta and a few other…well I am sure I don't need to continue." Their faces pale as I bring up a private meeting they choose to have in the basement where they watched the beta whip me in punishment for a mistake of one of the pups.

"I don't know what you are talking about, Jennifer. But it seems you are attempting to blackmail me."

"Nothing of the sort Councilman Daryll. But I am more than happy to tell the council everything I know. I don't want to lie in court."

"She is lying. She must have been trained here. We never let them train or learn in our pack." Alpha Rick snipes determined to get the upper hand again.

"That is true. I never learnt at Alpha Rick's pack either so no one can be held accountable for the training of a female."

"Who trained you?" Councilman Daryll snarls, earning a growl from Joe and Cayden who stands dutiful at his father's side. Raising my brow at them I shake my head, I don't need them causing problems now that I am on the verge of resolving this problem.

"They're dead so does it really matter? I don't even remember their name. I was on little then." It is the partial truth and something they wouldn't be able to tell, even with their alpha abilities.

"Of course, it matters."

"Okay well, let's go to the council and you can all question me for information I don't know but Alpha Joe isn't involved. Plus, who could expect me to be able to fight the way I do in the time I have been here."

"He is involved he is letting you train his warriors. Not only that you are training Alpha Chris's."

"Not to state the obvious but there is no law that a female cannot train warriors. Only that a female cannot be one herself."

"Well…We…" Councilman Daryll glances at Alpha Rick, probably in the hope that he has thought of another ridiculous plan to take down Alpha Joe's pack.

"Well, it seems that there has been a misunderstanding. If that is all gentleman, I would like to go back to investigating the recent attack on my pack."

"No, we are not finished. Your pack is a law breaking-"

"Sorry, Councilman Daryll" I rudely interrupt Councilman Daryll's snarling mumbo-jumbo. "No laws have been broken regarding my skills or me training. I think if you talk to Councilman Toms, he will be able to confirm this." What they don't know is that my family was close to Councilman Toms before our pack was destroyed and he was the one who still knows of my existence due to being a relative of the high warlock.

"Councilman Toms?" Alpha Rick questions looking confused.

"Yes, if I am not mistaken, he is the current councilman in charge of the law. Whereas you Councilman Daryll are in charge of current-"

"Yes. Yes. Alright so we know you are a miss know it all." Alpha Rick snarls, I don't think he has said a single word without snarling it since I've walked into this room.

"Fine. We will be looking into this. On another note, I hear that you were taken from Alpha Rick's pack without the correct process of track transfer."

"I thought we cleared this up." Alpha Joe growls. "None of the pups were actually part of Alpha Rick's pack. He didn't complete a blood ritual to welcome them into the pack. With everything going on we have not been able to do our ritual as of yet."

"They are my pack." I tell them and they all look at me. "And I choose where they go."

"You have to be joking. You aren't even an alpha. You cannot have a pack."

"I don't need to be an alpha. There is an old law that is still in place that allows a pack of wolves to join together in times of trouble. All the pups under me were never welcomed into the Red Moon Pack. I was there sole career which caused a natural link between us."

"That is ancient and never happened before." Councilman Daryll stutters,

"There has never been need to but those pups had no one apart from me. And before you try to make out that I have done something wrong. I cannot help what happened. But all the pups have agreed to swear allegiance to Alpha Joe or Alpha Chris."

"You took my son." Alpha Rick accuses.

"He chose to be here and Caspian agreed to it as the future Alpha."

"HIS MY SON!" Alpha Rick roars, leaping to his feet, fur sprouting up his arms, as his wolf starts to take control.
