Chapter Sixty - Four

"Alpha Rick. Please control yourself." Councilman Daryll orders forcing his aurora into each and every word, his aurora is dismal compared to mine, and it is not even up to par with Alpha Joe's or Alpha Chris's, but thankfully it is more potent than Alpha Ricks, the fur on his arms rescind and his breathing levels out as he takes calming breathes.

"Sorry. My son being taken has taken a toll on my wolf." He lies, not before staring daggers at me.

"Understandable. It would take a toll on anyone. And even though Caspian may have agreed to leave Daniel here, it was not his choice but his father's."

'Danny, I need you to find Caspian and come to Alpha Joe's office. Tell him Sam sent you or if he is with you. Say you want to ensure your dad lets you stay here.'

"That is ridiculous. He-" Alpha Joe snarls.

'Is he taking me away?' Danny whimpers in our link.

"Dad. Calm down." Cayden mutters.

'Not if I can help it, but I need you to be strong and make your own decisions before Councilman Daryll so it doesn't look like we were coercing you. Do you think you can do that?'

'I-I think I can.' Danny replies, and I shut off the link to concentrate on what is unfolding before me and not try to be a part of two conversations.

"The council has voted and agreed that Daniel must return to his pack."

"You surely cannot be serious. Not with the way he came to our pack." Alpha Joe exclaims more calmly.

"Deadly. If you have proof of this so-called abuse you allege, I am more than happy to take it to the council." Though they both look smug, they don't know I recorded every injury to the pups, including Daniel. Their staring competition is abruptly interrupted by the rap at the door.

Not missing a step, I scurry over and let the door swing to reveal a human wall of muscle as Caspian's body fills the doorway. Damn, I forgot how tall he was; mentally shaking my head, I step out of the way to let them in.

"Caspian?" Alpha Rick stutters before regaining himself. "What are you doing here?"

"Did you not see me when you stormed on Alpha Joe's lands with Councilman Daryll?"

"I was busy with important business. Now explain why you are here and not taking care of the pack."

"I am here visiting Danny."

"See. They're causing our pack to become vulnerable-" Alpha Rick snarls, pointing at Alpha Joe.

"How dare you!" Alpha Joe and Cayden roar at the same time. As Caspian tries to calm the situation, I find a trembling Danny.

"Hey, Danny. You okay?"

"He's taking me, isn't he?"

"Nope," I say, popping the 'p' loudly enough to draw everyone's attention. "Not if you don't want to. So it is entirely up to you. You can let Caspian become your guardian" I see the Councilman and Alpha Rick go to argue, but I continue shutting them up ", Which is possible through one of the laws, or we can go to court where I can show all the evidence that Councilman Daryll is eager to see. Every photo, video and document." They all stare at me, stunned. "You said that you would be happy to let him stay here if we could prove it, and I have ample evidence."

"She's lying. How can an orphaned wolf have such evidence."

"That is nothing you have to worry about. But I can send all my evidence to Councilman Williams if you wish."

"Why Councilman Williams?" Councilman Daryll questions, and I see the unease in his posture; he has finally worked out this isn't going to be as easy as he thought and realised that I know who the uncorrupt councilman is.

"I-I want Caspian to be my guardian as I miss him, but I don't want to return to the pack. Could you be my guardian instead?"

"She is not old enough. And you will not be staying here now. Pack your things." Alpha Rick uses his alpha command that washes over every one of us. "Daniel, go back to your things," he orders again, but Daniel still remains at my side. "What?" he asks incredulously, finally realising that the Alpha command is useless.

"Look, this is becoming out of hand, Daniel. Please do as your father says. You may have a silly crush on her," he sneers, turning his lip up in my direction, "but that is no reason to desert your family. The council-"

"He is not my family", Danny screams, pointing a finger at his dad. "This pack is." Knowing that Danny has chosen us, I start implementing a plan.

"Caspian. It would be a good idea to go with your dad and Councilman Daryll to the conference room down the hall to discuss this. While Danny waits in the beta's room, I can discuss this dilemma with Jenni and Cayden. We can then reconvene in, say, half an hour?"

"What so you can make up a bunch of lies?"

'Sammy, bring me the backup phone with the pics on, not the original, will you?'

'On it'

"My brother is bringing the evidence. Depending on your decisions depend on what I decide as leader of my pack. Until then, Alpha Joe, please hold off on the rituals. This way, it will not come back onto you."

"You have to be kidding. We don't care about your pack and will fight for each of you." Cayden snarls, finally showing us the alpha he can be.

"What my son said." Joe agrees, nodding.
