Chapter 27

Family trip

Harry appeared in front of a stone cliff, with the sea raging behind him and barely any solid ground to stand on. On the face of the cliff, one could see there was an opening, less than ten feet tall and three feet wide. With the intensity of the waves crashing against the rocks, it would be almost impossible to see the opening unless you knew what you were looking for.

There were also some protections on the entrance to keep muggles away, in the remote case they found the place.

Harry looked at his side at his companion. Vernon Dursley was standing there, with glazed eyes, without saying a word. He had to be put under the effects of the Imperius curse since he refused to cooperate.

Before coming to the cave, Harry had to make a stop at his relative's house, since he needed someone's help to disable the last defense of this particular Horcrux.

"Let's go, uncle."

Harry grabbed his uncle's arm and forced him to go inside the opening.

After one goes a bit deeper they will find a solid rock wall. This seems to be the end of the cave, but if one examines the place further, one will find some subtle runes carved over the wall.

Harry took out his wand and started taping the runes in a specific order.

Once he was done, there was a noise, and the seemingly solid rook wall moved aside, revealing an opening big enough for a person to go through without the need to crouch.

After that, the cave became huge. There was an underground lake that took most of the space inside the cave. In the middle of the lake, one could see a small island.

Harry approached the lake, and with a move of his wand, a white boat appeared from the depths. Harry looked at the small boat, and then looked at his uncle. He then looked at the boat again.

"Yes, there is no way that would work."

He cast an Inflatus charm on his uncle, who then started to inflate like a balloon and float in the air.

He took hold of one of his legs and got into the boat. As soon as he did so, the boat started to move towards the small island fairly quickly.

Harry looked from the side of the boat, into the dark waters. The waters were too dark and deep to see anything, but he could feel Them down there, waiting. He just smiled and let the boat take him to his destination.

On the island, there were some crystals, and on top of them, there was something that resembled a basin made of white marble filled with some dark shiny liquid.

Harry removed the charm on his uncle, who unceremoniously dropped to the rocky ground with a thud.

If he hasn't been ordered to keep his mouth shut, he would surely be complaining loudly by now.

"Start drinking the black liquid on the basin, and don't stop until it is all gone."

Vernon did not hesitate and followed the command, even tho he seem to be in great pain after taking the first sip of the stuff.

Once the liquid was gone, Vernon dropped to the ground, shaking in pain.

Harry approached the now empty basin and saw a beautiful locket laying inside.

Harry took a closer look at the locket and frowned. Something wasn't right.

'I can't feel anything from it. No magic, no fragment. Nothing.'

He took the locket into his hands to analyze it further…then, the realization came, and rage started to grow inside him.

His face was slightly contorted in anger that not even his occlumency could completely control.

"WHO DARES TO STEAL FROM ME!."

His eyes shone as bright as a lighthouse in the dark. His magic physically manifested around him and the entire cave seemed to start shaking.

His hand clenched onto the fake locket that someone left there to mock him and for a moment it seemed that the locket would be crushed.

Harry then closed his eyes and took hold of his emotions, putting them back in check.

'Losing my calm will get me nowhere. I need to find the thief first in order to recover what's mine.'

Once he was calmer, he noticed that the locket made a noise when moved, indicating there was something inside it.

He opened it, to find a note.

"I face death in the hope that when you meet your match you will be mortal once more. R.A.B"

It came as a shock that someone found out about his Horcruxes. He was always very careful with that information and didn't even tell his most trusted followers.

"R.A.B must be the name of the thief…mmm. WAIT "

Harry's eyes opened wide when he realized the mistake he made.

"The elf!"

He took only one living being to this cave. One time he borrowed the house elf of one of his followers. Brought him here and forced him to drink from the basin in order to hide the locket since he didn't want to drink himself and there was no other way to disable the defenses.

"That was Regulus elf!. Regulus Arcturus Black, R.A.B…. And I thought he was one of my most loyal followers. What a joke…"

He looked at the fake locket and for a moment thought of throwing it at the lake. But then an idea came to his mind.

"This actually presents me with an opportunity."

He placed the locket back at the basin and started to weave the strongest curse he could muster onto the locket, an even more deadly curse than the one he put in the ring.

A moment later the defenses reactivated, filling the basin once more with the black liquid.

He looked at his uncle grunting in pain and smiled.

"Did you enjoy the tr-"

He suddenly felt danger, and the water started to move.

"Ohh, this is bad. They don't recognize me as their master anymore!."

The Inferi started to come out of the water in great numbers.

"GLACIUS MAXIMA"

Blinding white light erupted from Harry's wand. Everything surrounding the small island was suddenly frozen, including the Inferi and most of the water of the lake.

"That won't last long. Come on, you big oaf!."

He cast the Inflatus charm on Vernon again and as soon as this one started to float, he grabbed him by the arm and threw him towards the entrance of the cave as hard as he could.

Vernon just flew away to safety until he hit the wall close to the entrance.

The Inferi started to break away from the ice, so Harry wasted no time and ran on top of the frozen water until he reached the entrance once again, took his uncle, and ran away from the cave.
