Chapter 10: Training-3 (New Attacks)

The next day everyone woke up and went to the field to complete their morning exercise which didn't change. But after a month of continuous running, all ten of them can complete the five rounds easily.

This time they were accompanied by their pets. Since Allen's firey Wolf Serina is playful she enjoyed the run more than other pets. Allen was happy to see her playing with the ice golem of Kriti, the lightning leopard of Sam and especially the steel rhino of Arti.

After breakfast, they started training in archery along with their pets. They were provided information on how to infuse their mana into their weapons to make them more deadly to the monsters.

This time in the training instead of using target boards, they are using combat robots so the trainees can coordinate with their pets to increase their combat ability.

Since they are archers, they were provided with a tactic to have their pets engage in close combat to distract the robot so they can disable it from afar.

Allen asked Serina to start shooting fireballs from her mouth since she had learnt it during her training. Allen's plan was not to distract the robot with her but to disable it before it comes closer. His tactic worked on the robot initially. Since the robot is programmed to learn opponents' moves, this tactic did not work for more than one hour.

He was forced to change his tactics every hour as the robot keeps learning his method of attack. He also started to infuse his mana into his arrows successfully to create a small explosion when the arrow collided with any object.

He found how much mana he needs to infuse into his arrows without breaking them, but to cause more damage to the enemy and also explode on impact. But he destroyed more than fifty arrows to finally perfect this attack. He named this attack Explosion Arrow.

He also found that he is using 20% mana from his storage to shoot one Explosion Arrow. The drawback of this attack is he can't use it when his allies fighting in close combat as the explosion will injure them too. So Allen decided to use it before the close combat starts between his allies and enemies.

This training continued even after lunch and the trainees' skill in combat with pets showed satisfactory improvement in the first few hours. Their trainers Bones and Emily (Trainer who trained the pets in their first month) were satisfied with their performance.

The trainees started to change their initial tactics to suit their elemental attacks and to have a better advantage over their enemies after lunch.

Allen was trying to create a new attack that can inflict more damage on a single enemy using his fire element on his arrows. He also continued circulating the fifteenth move of the mana exercise. He can complete the move but gets excruciating pain when he starts circulating the sixteenth move.

So, he dials down the move to fifteen to become more fluent with that move. He has been stuck on the fifteenth move for a week now. No matter how much he tries, he is unable to start the sixteenth move of the mana exercise.

In the evening, during the close combat training, he was able to infuse his mana to create a fire around the grade-1 two-handed sword against the robot. Since he already know how much mana can be infused to damage a grade-1 weapon, he used less amount of mana and was able to create a coating of fire around the two-handed sword. Coating the sword with fire, Allen found that the penetration of the sword increased by 40% and hence dealing more damage to his enemy.

Since the trainees showed more improvement in the mana exercise, the session was cancelled in the second part of the training and it was provided as free time for the trainees to relax. Allen and Kim planned to meet during this time to learn more together.

Allen started using Fireball attack on the robot and got good results too. His Fireball attack costs less mana than the [Explosion Arrow] attack. He can only fire five [Explosion Arrow] before his mana is drained. His [Fireball] attack can be cast seven times before his mana drains.

Even though Fireball is a single-target attack, using it in close combat is more effective as it can be used to distract his enemy even if it is unable to cause damage to an enemy who is focused on defence.

Ten days passed in the second part of the training, But he was able to get more fluency in using [Fireball] and [Explosion Arrow]. He can cast [Fireball] in a second. Before ten days he needed five seconds to cast it which is too long in a battle.

Allen is now able to fire Explosion Arrow in two seconds and since it is used before the close combat starts, he concluded that it is acceptable.

The archery and close combat training has been merged into combat training where the trainees can use both long and close combat weapons.

To increase the pressure in training the number of robots fighting with the trainees also increased gradually. Now Allen can fight up to four Private Low-level robots at the same time.

He also found a perfect single-target attack- Death Strike for his long-range attack. He can use it four times before his mana drains and takes 3 seconds to create the shot.
