Chapter 22: City Defence-2

Allen now had 50% of his storage cylinders full of mana.

He again infused a large amount of mana into his sword and a dense red fire coated the sword immediately.

He started fighting 5 of the high-level private stage turtles that came towards his side at the same time.

Serina was also fighting 3 high-level turtles. So he couldn't ask her for help as he can feel she is no longer playing but fighting seriously.

He started to get injuries as he is unable to fight all 5 turtles at the same time.

He took his bow out of his bag to use it as a blunt weapon and shield. He was able to reduce little pressure by this method.

But he still gets injured as the turtles are too much for him to handle. He kept drinking healing potions to heal his injuries.

He checked on the archers at the back and found them in the worst condition than him.

Even though they were in the low-level specialist stage, they are not good in close combat.

Allen wanted to go back to help them, but it would be considered treason and he will be executed on the spot for retreating.

He knew they wouldn't last long without help. He gave a signal to the archers on the wall to help them and continued fighting his battle.

It was so hard for him to fight these turtles who are overpowered in defence.

He is also doing mana exercise and operating his mana purifier at the same time which is very hard for him.

He gritted his teeth and started circulating the 8th move of the mana exercise. He could see the veins bulging due to the pressure and it caused him immense pain.

He was about to faint but was brought back to consciousness because of the pain. A turtle bites his leg.

He continued circulating the mana exercise and started the 9th move and he could see blood coming out of the being burst open.

He continued circulating the exercise and was able to kill a turtle which came directly at him with his sword.

He tried to block another turtle using his bow, but it snapped due to being used as a shield for a long time.

He gripped his sword using both hands and started to go on the offence. The death of one turtle gave him confidence.

Using two hands helps in increasing his attack speed and he is able to kill another turtle easily.

He was fighting, circulating mana exercise and operating the mana purifier at the same time. It is crucial he continues all three.

He is now fighting three big head turtles and Serina came to his aid after killing all the turtles she was fighting with.

"Serina. Get in." Allen said to his pet. She obeyed and turned into a ball of light and went inside his chest.

He is about to level up again. He is quite surprised to level up twice in one day.

He made sure that he has more than 80% mana. Since he doesn't have a vitality portion his levelling process will use his mana instead.

He currently had 92% mana in his storage which is more than enough.

He continued fighting the 3 turtles during the level-up. He slashed his sword at a turtle that jumped towards him killing it.

He was able to kill the other 2 big head turtles with ease before the levelling up process was completed.

He collected the shells and ate the meat of the turtle to regain his mana. He levelled up.

He could sense his power increased almost twice his previous power level.

Now he is a low-level specialist stage soldier. He can purchase and use grade-2 weapons and armour without any pressure.

He was happy to have levelled up twice in one day, but he had no time for celebrating.

Allen saw 4 peak-level private stage turtles coming towards him. Serina came out of Allen and killed the 4 turtles in a single move.

She covered herself in fire and rushed towards the turtles and killed them. She sat proudly on one of the turtle shells expecting praise from Allen.

Understanding her feelings Allen said "Well-done girl."

'Growl..' replied Serina wagging her tail. Allen collected the turtle shells and looked around to see if anyone needs help.

They continued fighting for almost the entire day to exterminate the monster horde.

They also got reinforcements from nearby villages to make sure the city defence was held firm.

Allen and Serina were very tired as they were fighting the entire day.

But Allen was happy because he levelled up twice. He went directly to the Hunter's Guild and sold all the cores and meat he got from the high-level and peak-level turtles.

He also sold the empty quiver, his grade-1 sword and bought two grade-2 swords. He also bought armour made of specialist stage turtle shells.

After fighting with them today, he knows how much it will help him to increase his defence.

He also sold his grade-1 armour. After all his selling and purchasing he still had 1,00,000 credits in his account.

That is how much someone can get even in a lower stage through a horde battle.

This was not a tough battle for experienced soldiers since the Northern city faces hordes at least thrice a year.

He decided to visit the military office the next day to submit a form for designation change.

He started archery as a pass time but since he became good at it, he continued it.

But now he knows he is more talented in close combat than archery.
