Chapter 24: New Life

"I'm sorry that you can't be in the military anymore." the receptionist said to Allen when he came downstairs.

"Yeah, me too." he said casually back to the receptionist.

Allen left the military office and went to the barracks. He packed all his belongings in his backpack.

When his teammates asked about the details, he informed them that he had to retire due to injuries.

Kim was furious as he had informed her that his injuries will take 2 to 3 years to heal and he can't be in the military till it heals.

But, Allen told her that this will help him to grow without the restrictions of the military.

He can go hunting whenever he wants and increase his battle experience and doesn't have to wait for an assignment or patrol duty.

He promised her that he is going to stay in the city itself so he can improve.

The next day he left the military camp and went to his apartment which he rented the yesterday.

He paid 1,00,000 credits to stay there for a year. Now he had only 12,000 credits left in his account.

He had to go hunting soon to get more credits. He was thinking about where to go.

"Hello Allen, how are you?" he heard a voice. He turned and saw a well-built man who was about 40 years old.

"Who are you?" Allen asked blankly.

"I am the person who sent that badge you have in your bag." the man replied calmly.

"Here. have this holo watch. It is already uploaded with your information, new account and your new mission." he said with an indifferent tone.

"My mission?" Allen was puzzled. He didn't even tell him his name.

Allen got the watch and transferred all the contents from his old holo watch to the new one and transferred his credit to the new account.

He did that without question because the mystery man was also wearing the badge he has.

"Whenever you report to the hunter's guild, always do not go to the guild leader to submit your status. We would like to keep an eye on your progress. So go there only when needed." the man said.

"What if I want to speak with someone?" Allen asked.

"We will contact you when needed. Report all the work you do to the guild leader and we will take it from there." he said.

"This is your new life. You are free to live as you wish. Keep in mind, we are watching you." the mystery man said and left Allen who was puzzled.

When he checked his new account, he was surprised to see that he has 10,00,000 credits in it.

He took his grade-2 swords and hung them on his back and went to the hunter's guild.

He is going to take on a mission so he can get credits and experience.

Allen also pinned his badge on his new Turtle shell armour. His shoulder bag was giving him a bit uncomfortable sensation.

He went to the guild shop first and bought a backpack for 5,00,000. It is expensive as it is a grade-3 backpack with more space to carry his hunt.

It can hold 5 times more materials than his grade-1 bag. It also has a feature where he can just say what he wants and the bag will make it come on top of the materials inside the bag.

He wanted to start hunting immediately but wanted to make sure that he will be taking missions too for extra credits.

He went to the board to see the missions so he can take one to earn extra credits. There were a lot of missions on this board.

It also had a mission for low-level monster hunting too. Some missions were to collect herbs or certain ores or minerals.

Allen kept staring at the mission board for a while trying to pick a mission, but it was either too easy or too risky for him.

He finally took a mission. He scanned the mission and went to the receptionist to accept the mission.

"Panda Meat! You are going to hunt a Steel Panda?" the receptionist was shocked.

The steel pandas were known for their defence. Their skin is as tough as steel and this makes their attack so strong that it can kill private-stage people immediately.

For low-level specialist stage people like Allen, if not looked upon by Lady Luck, they will be killed before they can make a scratch on the steel panda's skin.

Still, Allen decided to go ahead with it since he already had a mana seal and he was confident in himself and his pet.

He came out of the Central city through the north gate as it is the closest exit to the place where the steel pandas can be found.

Allen booked an armoured cab to take him to the edge of the forest. He usually came in the military truck to the forest while on patrol.

He got down from the armoured cab and looked at the forest. Once he enters the forest, the connection to his holo watch from the city will be disconnected.

The connection does not work inside the forest. So, he can't ask for help if he gets into trouble.

He entered the forest and was vigilant. He asked Serina's help to make sure he is not ambushed by any monsters.

It will take at least 3 hours for him to reach the place where steel pandas can be found.

He has to figure out a way to separate at least one steel panda away if they are in groups as he was confident in defeating only one of them at a time.
