Chapter 37: Monster Tide-2

I bought a lot of healing and mana potions earlier today in preparation to go hunting tomorrow. All the portions are in my storage backpack.

But it will not be enough if I am to fight this tide. It's a good thing I have a few fire-element monster hearts that I didn't sell in the market. Once the portions are over, I can use my ability to cook the hearts and eat them to replenish my mana.

I started with 'explosion arrows' and concentrated on the front of the tide as all the archers are focusing in the middle. I was able to kill quite a few monsters before the infantry clashed with the tide.

Since the infantry started fighting, we changed our attack from explosions to armour-piercing and normal attacks. I mostly used normal attacks and did not use 'death strike' as I need mana later when stronger monsters arrive.

I used standard attacks as the first wave only has private-level and specialist-level monsters. I focused on low-level specialist stage monsters as I can kill them with one or two arrows.

I can kill a peak-level private-stage monster with a single arrow. But killing one specialist stage monster is more profitable than killing ten private stage monsters.

Soldiers from the military are killing the private monsters as most of the soldiers are still in the private stage. I was concentrating on the attacks to make sure that I don't kill a fellow human by mistake.

I am circulating mana exercise when I am fighting this horde and it is really hard. I can't even complete the first move of the fourth set even after two hours of battle.

It is very painful to circulate the mana exercise. But, gritting my teeth, I completed the first move. But there is a block not allowing me to go to the second move and I am currently trying to break that block.

The battle raged on. The soldiers needed backup at dawn and a few hundred civilians came out of the city gate to reinforce the soldiers.

Once the dawn came, the flying monsters started to attack. The city wall cannons were focusing on the ground targets, so the archers started to fight the monsters in the air.

There were all kinds of monsters attacking the city on the ground as well as in the air. While the infantry and cannons concentrated on the ground monsters, archers concentrated on the flying monsters.

There were thousands of flying monsters attacking us. After dawn, the higher-stage monsters started to appear on the battlefield and it caused a lot of blood to spill from our side.

Hundreds of warriors were dead and injured in front of the city wall and gates. The monster corpses were also everywhere. I saw a warrior bitten in half by a lightning wolf.

A warrior squashed into a paste by a bear. The death rate was rising and we are yet to fight the largest fight in this tide.

Till now we are only facing low-level pawns. The higher-stage monsters have just started to show up on the battlefield. In the next few hours, the battlefield will be full of higher-stage monsters.

We have to thin the monster crowd somehow to turn the tide away or kill them all. The infantry is fighting like savage beasts in front of the city walls.

I saw Kamran also wearing an elite badge like me when we came together to the city walls. But I didn't ask anything to him. Even he would know that I am elite only today.

We only wear our badges when we fight a large-scale battle or on a mission. If not we are not supposed to show our badge in the open.

I am having difficulty aiming as there is a lot of dust raising from the ground due to multiple skills being used at the same time.

But I still kept shooting arrow after arrow at the monster tide killing any specialist stage or private stage monsters I could find, whether it is flying or crawling, I didn't care.

"ARCHERS, FOCUS ON THE FLYING MONSTERS".

An official order came to us once the sun was fully up. Only then I started to focus on the flying monsters and let the ground monsters for the infantry.

I didn't work on collecting my rewards after the battle as there will be a record of the monsters everyone killed in the city and the officials will share the location of each and every monster I killed.

If I tried to take another's kill, an alarm will be sounded from my holo watch and I will be severely punished. So no one will take another's kill without any permission.

The monsters that were killed by the fallen warriors will be sent to their families and also they will receive hefty compensation for their loss.

We were fighting for eight hours straight, but we did not feel any tiredness as we kept drinking vitality portions that were distributed by the military when we came to the city wall.

Archers were given five healing portions as we will be fighting from a distance. But we got more vitality and mana portions, twenty each as we will be using a lot of mana to remove tiredness. I also had a few vitality and mana portions from my preparation for the hunt.

Since I was only using standard arrows RI bow. I did not use my mana portions as the mana absorbed by my mana purifier was enough to keep my mana cylinders at 90%.

I have almost used up all the vitality portions provided by the military. I only had two more bottles of vitality portion left. After that tiredness will hit me hard and I will be forced to use my vitality portions which are at a higher level than the military provided.

I kept these vitality portions just in case if I level up. I know I will be levelling up soon as my battle power increased rapidly after the battle started.

That I'd one of the reasons why I did not let Serina to go out of the city wall to fight the monsters. She is still inside my chest waiting for my permission to attack.
