Blood Bath

Higa and Carla quickly jumped in the car as Liam shut all the doors, gunned it, and drove away from the zombie hoard. Angelica was holding a weapon and stopping Higa from going off and fighting while Carla buried her head into his shoulder. They had been driving for hours before they reached a safe building to rest for the night. It wasn't much but like much of the ruins in this city, it was usable. "We need to get out of this city, I can't believe it barely took two days for this damn thing to desert the whole place!" said Liam. "Let's rest up and then leave in the morning." Everyone nodded in agreement. Higa and Carla were the first to set up camp, and she curled into his chest as they settled for the night. He could tell that she was still shaken up so he wrapped his arm around her and told a few funny stories that he had heard before to lighten the mood. By the end of it, Carla was laughing. Angelica sighed in relief as Higa laid Carla down to sleep. "You are a good man, Higa. I thank you for making sure that Carla is okay." Angelica said as she thanked him."I just want to protect my friend…" Higa replied as he scratched the back of his head. Liam volunteered to take the first watch of the night and everyone else eventually fell into a deep sleep. Higa was the first to wake up when demonic groaning was heard. Higa sat up and a zombie was there, however, He wasn't attacking. it was just sitting there, smiling devilishly and after a few minutes, the damned thing put its lips together…and whistled. it was loud, so loud it felt like it was tearing his ears from off his head. he was practically right next to him so he got the worst of it but when the others woke up the zombie had vanished. Liam looked around and asked, "What was that?!" Angelica got up from her spot and said, "We have to get out of here, it's not safe." but the zombie hoard was already alerted, some were climbing buildings, and others were banging on the doors. there was no escape. Higa looked at them and said, "We have to fight" Everyone was in shock. "H-Higa...none of us are you...you aren't prepared for any of this!" said Liam and started to panic. Angelica spoke up, "No, Higa is right! We need to fight if we want any chance at survival!" she looked around for a weapon and saw an old axe lying nearby. She lifted it off the ground, tightened her grip, and prepared for battle. "OK, Everyone! We just need to hold them off long enough for us to be able to make an opening for us to escape!" The group steeled themselves and readied for the coming fight. Liam grabbed a broken piece of wood from the ground and held it like a sword while Angelica started swinging her axe in wide arcs to keep the zombies at bay. Higa pounded his fists on any zombie that got too close to them, determined not to let them get away and get to safety. Soon, the fight was in full swing. Angelica used every ounce of strength she had to fend off the hoard while Liam and Higa tried their best to protect her from getting overwhelmed. They did as much as they could, but it seemed like there were just too many zombies for them to handle; Liam and Angelica started getting fatigued and for the first time, Higa didn't know how they were going to make it out of this alive. Suddenly, Carla burst through the trees, a crossbow in her hands. She raised it and fired off bolt after bolt into the crowd of zombies, quickly dispatching them until They ran into the forest with her. Higa looked over at her and could tell it hurt her to do that, she looked like she was about to vomit at the fact she shot multiple of them and it wouldn't even kill them. Still, adrenaline coursing through their veins, Angelica, Liam, and Higa ran full speed behind Carla until they made it to safety. When safety was in view, all four of them collapsed onto the ground and breathed heavily before finally letting their guards down. They had survived a zombie attack. Together. They were approached by an old man, the smell of an old cigar lingering in the air. He told them that they had done an incredible thing, and he was here to offer them a safe place to stay, an old farmhouse about six miles away. Relieved yet exhausted, they accepted his offer and were escorted back to the farmhouse by the man where they would finally get some much-needed rest.
