The four of them woke up feeling fresh and safe in the farmhouse and were ready to chat about the night's events. Angelica admitted it had been scarier than anything she'd ever gone through. "It was too overwhelming…I felt hopeless! it seems like we're trying to survive just to suffer more!" Higa was quick to add, "The whole reason this happened is because of that damn whistler..". "whistler? What the hell is that?!" Angelica asked. "It's uh..a name I gave one of two abnormal zombies I encountered…" Higa replied. "It was like smiling and stuff. Then it whistled loud as shit and attracted the other zombies…". Angelica's eyes grew wide with fear as she asked Higa to tell her more about the other abnormal. "the other one I called the Mimicker, unlike the other zombies this one talks and mimics people. I'm not sure if it can mimic things too but it mimicked Carla that one time, remember?". Angelica nodded in agreement and told Higa to continue, "Well it seems like the Mimicker was more intelligent than the rest of them. It made me worried that they were leading us somewhere dangerous". Angelica's face drained of color as she realized how dangerous their situation had been and every night felt like a complete nightmare for them all. "there's one more." the old man walked over to them, "The third one I called the Bastard. It was like a bigger version and sometimes a monstrosity of all the zombies combined. Stronger and faster too," he said grimly before putting out his cigar, leaving them with a chilling thought about what could have happened to them if they weren't prepared for this nightmare that had befallen them. "H-How do you know a-about it?" asked Carla, her voice barely a whisper "If it's not too much to ask sir". "It was a little over 2 hours after the mysterious green wave hit. I had told my wife to hide away with the kids, there were 5 of them n one spot. I held the door and shot most of them down but they kept getting up…when I finally thought I would be eaten alive right then and there but strangely enough, they turned their attention up. It tore half of my barn apart but a large green crystal crashed into the room my family was hiding in. Obviously, I ran in there but to my surprise.." the old man lead the four to the wrecked master bedroom where a large crater rested, "a green liquid was everywhere, my family was crushed and my wife was squirming in pain. the green stuff flew together and morphed into some sort of little girl…when she saw my wife reach toward her she touched the broken arm of my nearly dead wife and she had fused her with the dead bodies of my kids! I couldn't even see their faces in the dark, hell even when they walked into the sun they were unrecognizable. I heard groans, no, SCREAMS of pain. I heard bones snapping and…" The old man cut himself off and sat down on the bed. "I'm s-so sorry…" Carla trailed off, unable to find the words to express how sorry she was. Angelica put a hand on his shoulder in an attempt to comfort him. The old man continued, "I tried to make them move but they were stuck. I watched in horror as my wife and children slowly decayed right before my eyes into a pile of bones and flesh with the green girl still standing on top of it all. She simply looked at me, smiled, then disappeared!" The old man started to cry Higa averted his eyes nervously, "wellll, that's certainly one story I won't forget…" he muttered softly. Angelica looked around the room, pausing for a moment before coming to her conclusion. "do you think…any of us will get turned into one of those..? " She paused, not sure how to continue her thought. Higa and Liam both shook their heads vigorously. "No way! We've gotta scram before that happens!" Higa said, determination in his voice. Carla offered the old man to join them but he waved them off, still too stunned from what he had witnessed to move. So they left the old man in the room, vowing to never forget his story, and hurriedly made their way back out of the building. They decided it was best not to stay in one place for too long and quickly set off in search of safety. As they walked, Angelica couldn't help but think of the old man's story, wondering if any of it could be true. She shuddered at the thought and put her trust in Higa, Liam, and Carla to kill her if she ever did turn. The four of them trudged on, taking note of their surroundings and plotting which direction to take. They knew that the safety they sought was out there somewhere, but it would not be easy to find. With determination in their hearts, they ventured forth in search of a safe haven. As night began to settle upon them, Carla and Liam collapsed from hunger and fatigue. Higa and Angelica quickly set up camp, gathering what supplies they could find while the other two got some much-needed rest.
