Chapter 10: Then We Go Down Fighting

When I got home, I got a call from Stiles telling me what had happened at Eichen House, apparently, one of the orderlies was a serial killer, an angel of death to be exact. And he attacked him and Lydia. Oh, and come to find out Meredith was still alive. And it was likely she was the banshee behind the Deadpool.

After I hung up, I made my way to the bathroom and showered, and threw on a fresh pair of clothes. As I stepped back into my room, I heard a familiar knock on my window. "I thought you were with Scott?" I said as I opened the window for the blond-haired boy waiting outside. "He got a call, apparently Kira found Satomi's pack," Liam replied as he stepped inside my room. "And I asked if he could take me home before he went to meet them," he added. "Ah," I said as I watched him plop down on my bed. "Hey, I'm sorry about yesterday," he mumbled his eyes scanning my room, and then they landed on the crack in my wall.

"Did you do that?" he asked, "Maybe," I muttered. "I'm not always as in control of my powers as I'd like to be," I added quickly. "Sorry," Liam said again sadly. I shook my head and sat down next to him. "It really wasn't your fault. I was already upset; I had just been able to control it. You just happened to be the last drop before the teacup overflowed," I told him. "The teacup?" he asked. "It's an analogy my mom used when I was younger," I explained. "Emotional moment's build up over time until something sets them off, and then all of a sudden, I explode. It happens because I have a bad habit of not feeling my emotions in the moment, and then all of a sudden there's just too many of them, and I can't control them, or my powers, when that happens," I explained, and Liam nodded.

The room fell silent as we sat there on my bed. "Are you ready to talk about it, now?" I whispered, not wanting to push him. "I, um. Yeah," he muttered, and I moved so that I was sitting in the middle of my bed facing him. I rested my face in my hands as he began to talk. "I don't know how you guys do this. How Scott does this? He always helping people and fighting these things. And it doesn't seem to bother him at all. And I can't do that," he admitted. And I nodded, "My life has never been normal, I've known about the supernatural for a long time. But you just got thrown into this, and it hasn't been that long. You can't expect your brain to just magically be able to cope with all of it," I told him. "And besides, the Berserkers are some of the most terrifying creatures on the planet. Even the best-trained hunters are afraid of them," I added.

Liam let out a sigh, and I just sat there waiting for him to speak, but all of a sudden, my phone began to ring. I looked at it and saw that it was Scott. "Go ahead," Liam said as I looked up at him and shot a weak smile before I picked up the phone.

"Scott?" I said as I answered. "Hey, listen, we found Satomi and her pack, they're all beaten up pretty bad. It looks like a whole team of hunters are after them, and I don't think Kira and I can protect them on our own," he told me. "Are you asking for my help?" I questioned. "Yes, please," I heard Scott reply. "Where are you?" I asked. "At the clinic," he answered. "I'll be there in ten," I said before hanging up.

I walked to my closet, grabbed a pair of jeans and a flannel, and ran to the bathroom to change. Once I was done, I threw on my boots and my leather jacket before I hopped out of my window and onto the roof. "Be careful," I heard Liam mutter, "I will," I smiled before hopping off the roof and walking over to my bike.

It may have been because I speed, but it didn't take me long to get to the clinic. I darted inside and was met by Scott and Kira. "Kira," I said with a smile, and the girl engulfed me in a hug. "Is your mom, okay?" I asked her as we pulled apart. "She's healing," Kira replied. "Good," I nodded. I followed her into the back room of the clinic, I looked at all the people standing around, they all looked like they had been through hell.

"They can't stay here," I whispered to Scott. The clinic was too small and too easy for the hunters to find. And on top of that, I was pretty sure Deaton wouldn't be happy if we got into a fight with the hunters and recked his place. "I know," Scott replied. "I have an idea on where to take them," he stated. "Where?" Kira asked. "It's one of Argent's old buildings," Scott explained. He must have been talking about the warehouse where Kate had taken Violet.

Scott talked to Satomi for a moment, and then we quickly began to move everyone to the old industrial building. Kira and I rode on my bike, while Scott led the others on foot. It was faster that way.

As the sun came up everyone got settled in, it wasn't until then that I realized I had been awake all night. And that I was extremely tired. I sat down in a corner, scanning the crowd around me. My eyes landed on Brett the boy I had helped when he got cut by a blade covered in yellow wolfsbane, and he was staring right at me. I rolled my eyes before I leaned my head back and closed them.

A little while later I was jolted awake by the sound of a wolf roaring. My eyes snapped open, and I saw Brett standing in front of Chris, his claws were out, and he was ready to attack. "Wait. Wait. Wait." I heard Scott yell as he ran towards Brett, I shot up, I was hoping Brett wouldn't do anything stupid. "Brett! This is his place. It's his!" Scott yelled. I stepped forward and stood next to Scott, Kira did the same and Brett turned around, glaring at us before walking back to his pack. "Scott. If you bring in guests, you could have called," Chris said walking over to us. "I didn't have anywhere else to take them," Scott replied.

"I know this man," Satomi pipped up, stepping towards Chris. "He may not remember, but we've met before," she continued. "You can trust him," Scott told her. "I trust him," he added. "How do we know he's not like the others?" Satomi asked. "What others?" Chris questioned looking at us. "Last night, there was a whole team after them. and they used crossbows," Kira answered, handing him an arrow. "Their hunters, aren't they?" Scott muttered. "Not if they're killing for profit. Not anymore," Chris answered.

"Can they find us?" Brett pipped up walking up behind me. "They might already know you're here. Maybe they're waiting for dark," Chris answered. "So, we're not safe here?" Kira questioned. "We're not safe anywhere," Satomi told her. "We've been trying to get out for days. Everywhere we turn, we find someone new trying to kill us," she explained.

"If their coming, Scott, they're coming for you too. You're still number one on the Deadpool," Chris told Scott. "I know," he replied. "I know Lydia can get the answer from Meredith she just needs more time," Scott added. "Then that's what we'll give her," Chris told us.

Soon enough Derek and Braeden showed up, and Chris began to set up a perimeter. I made my way over to Braeden, "Here," she said handing me a gun. "You know I don't use these," I muttered. "We're going up against an entire team of trained hunters Amaya," she snapped. "Fine, but not this one," I said setting the pistol back down on the table. Braden rolled her eyes before lifting a case off the floor and setting it down on the table. I let out a sigh as I opened the case, "Give the seventeen-year-old a gun. Because that always goes well," I muttered as I took the pistol out of the case and pushed in the magazine. Scott walked past me and shot me a look of surprise before he made his way over to Derek.

"So, you and Derek, huh," I whispered to Braeden, and her head shot up. "Oh, come on, you're not this loyal to someone, unless you actually like them," I smirked. "Yeah, okay, maybe. Now shut up," Braeden hissed. And I just smiled before turning my attention to Scott and Derek, "They've got claws and fangs, but they're not fighters," Derek told him. "That's why I called you," Scott replied. "We'll try to remember I don't have claws and fangs anymore either," Derek stated. "That's why he called me," Braeden smirked.

"Am I the only one still hoping this is all just a false alarm?" Kira asked. "I mean it's possible we could wait here all night, and nothing happens, right?" she continued. "I think with our track record when it comes to luck, we all know that's not going to happen," I answered.

"Scott, you heard anything from Stiles or Lydia yet?" Braeden asked. "Lydia's still talking to Meredith. Stiles and Malia are headed to the lake house. They're trying to stop it," Scott replied. "What if there is no stopping it? What if it doesn't end until we're all dead?" I heard Brett ask as he walked towards us. "Then we go down fighting," I said taking a step closer to him. I could see why Liam hated him so much, he was extremely annoying, even if he was cute. "Because I'm not just going to lay down and let them take me, or anyone else," I continued.

"Then let's send a message. Let's make something perfectly clear to anyone with a copy of that list. It doesn't matter if they're professional assassins, hunters, or amateurs who just picked up a gun. Anyone who thinks they can hunt and kill us for money is going to be put on another list. Our list. They get to be a name on our Deadpool," Derek told everyone.

After Derek's speech, I made my way over to a corner and waited. "Hey," I heard someone say softly and I opened my eyes to see Brett standing over me. "Yes?" I mumbled not moving. "I never got the chance to say thank you, for you know, saving me when I got stabbed. Deaton said if you hadn't been there to pull the yellow wolfsbane out of my body I would have died before I made it to the clinic," he said sitting down next to me. "You're welcome," I replied plainly. I had never really expected him to thank me for that. I was just doing what I thought was right.

"How is your sister doing?" I asked looking at the young girl that was huddled in a corner, Brett's jacket draped over her. "She's terrified. And I don't know if there is much, I can do to protect her," he answered. "She'll be fine," I whispered. "How, do you know?" Brett asked. "Because I'll make sure of it," I replied. "Or I'll die, which would suck," I added with a smirk.

Brett just shook his head at me, "I get why Liam hangs out with you," he said. "Oh really?" I questioned. "It's because you two are polar opposites. When it comes to dealing with difficult situations, Liam lashes out and lets his emotions get the best of him. But you, stay in control, no matter what. I mean right now you're completely calm. Your heartbeat isn't even elevated. And on top of that you know how to deal with other's emotions, how to make people feel better," he told me. "I guess," I said with a smile. I don't think Brett realized that as in control as I usually was, and as well as I handled situations like these when I did lose control, I was just as bad as Liam.

Brett opened his mouth to say something else when I saw a smoke grenade fly through the window, and I heard Braeden yell, "Get back!". I leaped up and so did Brett, "Get your sister," I said, and he ran towards his sister, making it over just as the gunfire began. I ducked behind a wall as the firing continued, I fired back, getting some good hits in, but it didn't take me long to run out of ammo.

I put the gun away and sprinted across the room, ducking behind a pillar. I looked over at Scott getting ready to attack, there was a man moving closer to him, in his blind spot. I quickly raised my hand, and the man flew back, hitting the wall. His body went limp, and I let go. Scott looked at the man and then back and me, shooting me a thankful smile before running toward the other hunters. As I watched him, I got an idea. My eyes and hands began to glow, I took a deep breath, I was really hoping what I was about to do would work.

I stepped out from behind the pillar and held up my hands, focusing on every bullet that was flying toward me. One by one they glowed a pale silver and stopped right in front of me. And in one flick of my hand, they all flew back towards the men. "Good job," I heard Kira say as we backed into each other, fighting off the men that were drawing closer. "Thanks," I replied before I threw two of the men against a wall with my powers.

I darted behind a pillar again to catch my breath losing Kira in the smoke. I looked around and saw Brett running over to Scott, who yelled something at him before he ran back to the others. I made my way over and saw the pack huddled in a corner. "Is everyone okay?" I asked as I walked over to Satomi, "I think so," Satomi replied. Suddenly, I heard a bullet whiz by my ear, almost hitting Satomi, but she easily dodged it.

"Ok that's it," I mumbled as I turned around and held out my hands, bullets began to stop in mid-air a few feet away from me. "I would like to remind everyone, that while all of you can walk away from getting shot in the chest, I cannot," I yelled annoyed. "I'm also not wearing any body armor, like these guys, which honestly, was my bad," I hissed as the bullet's kept building up. "But, you know, it's totally fine," I said, finally pushing back the bullets like I had done the first time. I few men dropped to the ground, and I let out a sigh.

I looked back at the others, and Brett was just staring at me, but as I scanned the faces huddled against the wall in the corner I realized. His sister wasn't there, I think Brett realized it at the same time because I saw panic spread across his face. He stood up but stopped him placing a hand on his shoulder. "Stay here. Protect your pack," I instructed before I ran off.

I looked around but seeing through the smoke and shadows wasn't easy. I focused my powers on her aurora and soon enough I saw her standing against a pillar. As I moved closer, I saw a laser right on her forehead, and a man standing in front of her. My hands began to glow, there was no way I was letting her get shot in the head. But suddenly I saw Scott tackle the hunter that was pointing the gun at her. When the hunter distracted, I quickly ran over to her, "Come on," I said taking her hand and pushing her behind me. I looked back and saw Scott tearing into the man that had just tried to shoot her.

"Are you okay?" I heard a small voice ask. I looked down and saw the girl looking up at me with a concerned look on her face. I noticed that there was a coppery taste in my mouth, and I felt something dripping out of my nose. I reached up and rubbed my nose and then looked at my hand, there was a smear of crimson red. "Great," I muttered. I had pushed myself too far.

The glow of my hands was beginning to fade, and I could feel my magic fading, I was running out of energy. "It's nothing," I said looking down at her with a smile before turning around and scanning the warehouse. I put my hands out, they were glowing only a faint silver now.

But suddenly the gunfire began to fade, and the warehouse fell silent, besides the sound of phones buzzing and dinging. I felt a buzz in my pocket and pulled out my phone and saw there was a text from Stiles. "The Deadpool's gone," was all it said.

Soon all the men disappeared into the smoke and shadows. I slowly turned to look back at the little girl behind me, "Go find your brother. It's over," I said softly. I let out a heavy sigh before I began to walk over to Scott. "It's over," he said. "Yeah," I whispered.

I followed him to the others, I looked over and saw Braeden, she looked at me with worry on her face. I knew that there was still blood slowly dripping out of my nose. "Are you okay?" she asked looking over at me as I stepped next to her. "Absolutely," I replied weakly, wiping the blood from my nose.

Everything was over, the Deadpool was gone. And all of us had managed to survive.
