Once everything was over Braeden drove me home. When I stepped inside, I saw that Liam and my mom were both sitting at the kitchen table. I had a feeling that someone had filled them in on what had been happening because both of them looked extremely worried.
"Oh my God. honey, are you okay," my mom said shooting up from the table and running over to me. "Yeah," I answered weakly as she engulfed me in a hug. She pulled away and looked at me. Her eyes landed on the blood on my shirt, "Is that blood?" she exclaimed. "No?" I answered. "That's not a question you're supposed to answer with another question," my mom remarked. "I'm not even sure it's my blood," I replied. "That doesn't make me feel any better," my mom bellowed. "Mom," I whined, and her gaze softened. "Okay. I'm just glad your safe," she said taking a step back.
"The Deadpool's gone," I muttered looking over at Liam. He nodded, "I'm glad your okay," he said stepping closer to me. "Yeah, me too," I said with a smirk. "Hug?" I questioned holding out my arms. Liam stared at me for a moment before he stepped closer and wrapped his arms around me.
As I felt his arms around me, my vision began to blur, and the coppery taste returned to my mouth. "Hey Liam," I whispered as I clung to him, "Mhm," he responded. "I'm going to need you to catch me," I said, and then everything went black.
When I woke up, I found out that I had been out for two days. "So, I guess now we know what happens when I overuse my powers," I said to my mom as I made myself some food. "It's not the first time this has happened, Amaya," My mother said. "True," I replied.
"Poor, Liam though. When you passed out, I thought he was going to hyperventilate. The poor boy was so freaked out, he thought you were dying," my mom told me. "Yeah, he's kind of dramatic," I laughed. "Are you going to school today?" my mother asked after a moment. "No, but I need to go to the store," I answered.
Once I finished eating, I slipped on my shoes and headed out the door. But as I opened the door I was met by a familiar face. "Chris?" I questioned; I felt my mother's presence as she walked up behind me. "Chris," she greeted him. "Melody, Amaya. Listen I'm sorry to bother you but I was wondering if I could borrow the Berserker claw Deaton gave you," he said looking at me. I sighed and unzipped my backpack, before pulling out the long dagger-like claw. "What are you planning?" I asked as I handed it to him.
"I'm hoping there are some trace partials on here that can give me an idea of where Kate may be hiding," Chris answered. "Okay, well have fun with that," I said as I walked out the door leaving my mother and Chris alone.
THIRD PERSON POV
"Would you like some help with that?" Melody asked once her daughter rode off. "You still working at the lab downtown?" Chris asked. Melody nodded.
"So how is she doing?" Melody asked as she and Chris drove towards her workplace. "Amaya? She seems to be doing fine. She's been extremely helpful, I think if it wasn't for her, we wouldn't have made it this far," he replied. Melody thought for a moment, "It's hard not to worry about her. Her father wanted her to stay out of this world and have a normal life. But I think she's too much like him to ever be able to do that," she told Chris and he chuckled. "If he's anything like Amaya then he sounds like a good man," Chris, replied.
AMAYA POV
When I got back from the store my mom was gone. I was still pretty worn out, so I sat on the couch and started watching something on tv. I woke up to the sound of someone walking in the door. I shoot up off the couch, but I realized it was just my mom, my eyes darted to the clock, and I realized how late it was.
"Your back late," I said looking over at my mom. "The lab was busy tonight. And on top of that, I helped Chris analyze that Berserker claw," my mom replied. "Ah," I nodded. "You hungry?" my mom asked. "Yeah," I muttered.
After dinner, I went upstairs and showered before hopping into bed.
The next morning, I woke up early, I planned to go to school today, especially since the boys had a game. When I got to school the first thing, I noticed was that Scott and Kira weren't there. I asked Stiles about it after econ, and he said that they had a date last night and they were going to be late.
"I see," I said with a smirk, understanding fully that they probably had some fun last night, and had overslept. "Amaya?" I heard a voice behind me, and I turned around and saw, Liam. "Oh, hi," I said before Liam engulfed me in a hug. I looked over at Stiles who was just staring at us, he raised an eyebrow, and I just rolled my eyes at him.
"Sorry I was going to text you, and tell you I was okay," I apologized after he let go of me. "It's fine. I'm just glad you're okay," Liam said softly. "Eh, I'm totally okay. Usually, I just sleep for a couple of days when this happens. And then I'm fine," I said with a smile. "What this has happened to you before?" Stiles asked. "Once," I shrugged.
"Hey, where's Scott? I haven't seen him all day," Liam asked looking at Stiles and me. Stiles told Liam the same thing he told me. I couldn't help but notice how worried Liam looked after hearing about Scott and Kira being gone. But I assumed it was just because he was worried about the game.
The rest of the day was quiet, and soon enough it was game time. I made my way to the bleachers and saw Mason sitting alone. "Hey, mind if I sit?" I asked. He nodded and I hopped up on the bleachers and sat down next to him.
The game was not going well, Liam seemed to be distracted, and without Scott, the team seemed to be lacking. Halfway through the game, I got a text from Stiles, I glanced at it and then hopped up and walked behind the bleachers. "What's going on?" I asked as I walked over to Stiles and his dad.
"Scott's not answering his texts, and I'm starting to get worried," Stiles said to me. "Do you think it's Kate? I mean now that the Deadpool is down, it's the perfect time for her to attack," I said. "I don't know, maybe," Stiles replied. "Okay well I'll say here, and keep an eye on Liam," I said before walking back to the bleachers.
Soon enough the game was over, and we definitely lost. I slowly made my way into the school and waited by the locker rooms for Liam.
THIRD PERSON POV
"Are you okay?" A familiar voice asked. Liam looked up from where he was sitting in the locker room and saw Brett looking down at him. "We lost," Liam replied. "But you are okay, right?" Brett repeated. Liam nodded slightly. "Why'd you do that? Why'd you help me?" he asked, referring to the moment on the field during the game when Brett had dragged him aside to check on him. "Because of Scott. He saved me. He saved all of us," Brett answered. "So did Amaya," he added. "Do you know how lucky you are?" Brett added. "What do you mean?" Liam muttered.
"Scott's a true Alpha. That means he didn't get his powers because he was born with it. He didn't get it by stealing or killing someone. He earned it. And Amaya, do you have any idea how rare her powers are? Packs used to go to war to have an emissary like her. Not a druid, but a witch. She possesses the ability to physically manifest her power to protect the pack," Brett explained. "You're not strong just because you can lift a lot of weight now. You're strong because you endure. Satomi calls it strength of character. You're lucky to have them," Brett added before he walked away, leaving Liam to think.
AMAYA POV
I saw Brett come out of the locker room; his eyes landed on me leaning up against the wall. "What are you doing here?" he asked as he walked over to me. "Waiting for Liam. Somethings up with Scott," I answered. "You want me to yell at him?" Brett asked, and I shrugged in response. Brett rolled his eyes and walked back to the locker room, opening the door and then yelled inside, "Liam, get you're crap together, Amaya's waiting for you,".
Then he walked back over to me, "Be careful, okay," Brett said with an honestly worried look on his face. "Don't worry about me princess I'll be fine," I replied with a smirk before I walked over to Liam who had just emerged from the locker room.
"What's going on?" Liam asked as I walked over to him. I was about to answer when my phone began to ring. I pulled it out and saw that it was Stiles. I answered and as I listen to him talk my face turned pale. "At least I was right," I mumbled as I hung up the phone repeating what Stiles had just said to me. Liam stared at me, and I had a feeling he had heard everything Stiles had just told me.
"Let's go home," I mumbled still in shock. This wasn't good, if Kate did take Scott and Kira down to Mexico there had to be a reason. And that reason was probably a bad one.
