Elena’s heart didn’t go back to normal even after she got to her desk and checked the files that had been kept there, she couldn’t help being jumpy whenever she remembered how he’d looked at her. Sure he has looked at her before but never like that, it was like it was the first time he was seeing her.
It didn’t make her feel beautiful—okay, maybe it did, she had to admit Elijah Walton giving her a once over made her stomach churn but when she recalled she’d been in his bed less than twelve hours before and he might be remembering that, her stomach churned in a different way and she felt bile rise up to her throat.
The telephone on her desk rang and it made her jump. That successfully pulled her from her multiple thoughts and she was able to get back to work, thoughts of her hot boss or what his hands gripping her waist felt like locked in the darkest part of her mind, where they wouldn’t see the light of day, ever again, or at least she hoped.
