A heated conversation

“Who.. who painted that?” Juniper asked him breathlessly.

Kai smirked a bit. “It’s cute seeing you all curious. I have no clue who painted it. Perhaps one of the servants, still on the island.”

She thought about asking, but something deep inside her told her she needed to keep this a secret.

They traveled around the rest of the castle, where there was a small ballroom, library, and dining room. They all had a side open to the main courtyard in the center of the palace. It was a unique setup, nothing like the structures in Groda.

Kai explained that Havenforth has a slightly different culture, and their buildings were designed differently. Juniper deemed the Havenforth style as something much more open with calming soft blues and pinks.

Despite being in awe of the castle and its history, the portrait of that girl still burned in her mind. No, not “that girl” but Kai’s mother.
