Time went by poorly. Juniper paced the castle room back and forth countless amount of times before the doors swung open, and Kai marched in. Sweat and ash smeared his face, but she didn’t seem to mind as she perked up and hurried to him.

They embraced, and she could feel his exhaustion in the hug.

“Finally, the Lady of Sala about burned a hole in the castle floor,” Dayton snarled.

“Sorry to have you locked in here. You okay?”

“I’m fine. What about everyone else? I want to be helping where I can.”

“You can help by staying out of sight while this is all sorted. Come, we have a meeting in the war hall.”
