The knock on the door pulled the girls from their worried trances.
Teresa bowed as she went to leave the room, but Juniper quickly grabbed her arm and stopped her. “Come find me later.”
Teresa nodded, then headed to the door.
Outside, Janet stood. Her face was purple as she quietly waited for Juniper to leave the room.
“Are you alright?” Juniper asked.
Janet twiddled with her fingers for a bit before she spoke. “Lady of Sala. I-I do hope you are happy with the work I have done.”
Janet was significantly younger than the other maids. It made sense she was trying to get approval from Juniper, so she gave it to her.
“You have been doing a lovely job.”
The girl perked up. “Really? I- um- well, I don’t think that you know this. Please forgive me if it is not my place, but you and Prince Sala have yet to name a maid and it would be a great honor if…” she fell short of words as if she was too scared to say it.
“I’ll talk to Kai.”
