The Monarch Is Here

We slowly began to walk up but then I realized that the Monarch had already shifted his gaze towards us.

"I was wondering when you'd come out." His voice echoed.

The watchers all slowly began to turn their heads towards us, but none of them made a single move.

"It doesn't surprise me that you found the second gate already, that is why you are the number one system user after all." The Monarch says while staring at me.

His mask that was made of this weird mist still revealed that he was looking at me. I could just barely make out his eyes from where I was standing.

But I think he's wearing another mask beneath it, that doesn't look entirely normal to be eyes in the first place.

"Seems lost for words." One of the watchers say.

"You can speak Sevarian." The Monarch says calmly.

"Why are you here, and what do you want?" I ask while trying not to lose my cool.

This is my opportunity to try and get some answers, but there is no guarantee that he'll give me any.

"I test the will of each world I go to. Each one has failed to save itself. But I want people to live without fear, but that can only be achieved through my methods." The Monarch answers while pulling up multiple screens of different worlds.

But all of those worlds look similar to that of the first gate. Each void of any color or life. That's just a cruel thing to do to each of these world's that he's been to.

Fear is not something that everyone can just get rid of. It'll always exist, one way or another.

"Fear will never disappear." I say with a serious tone.

"Maybe so, but will you be the one to stand before me? Or will you fall to one of my gates Sevarian." The Monarch replies.

"I'll conquer all the gates and kill the watchers who try to stop me." I say with a pissed off tone.

This was the one conversation that pissed me off most. The gates weren't as bad as the cheap moves he pulled with the watchers.

Using them as a way to eliminate people like me.

"Hahaha. That's good to hear. I'm really rooting for you Sevarian, no one's ever made it as far as you." The Monarch says while praising me.

Everything he said felt off, but yet no one else said anything but the two of us. Did my party find this concerning at all?

"What will happen if I complete the gates and beat you?" I ask with a curious tone.

"The mobs who are killing and being killed, will disappear. The ones I brought here, I should say." The Monarch answers.

"I see." I say while trying to think.

I don't know what that means for Rika though, did she come here on her own? Or would she be considered a part of that group that was brought here by the Monarch.

"Now, will you be entering this gate?" The Monarch asks.

He seems to be quite interested in our next moves but I'm not sure of what to do in this scenario.

"You do have two heroes with you, which is quite surprising since you were technically considered an enemy by them as well." The Monarch says while pointing at the two of them.

"I don't care, we're entering the second gate." I reply with a serious tone as I begin to head towards the gate.

The Monarch gestured for the watchers to move and watched as we got close to the gate.

"Good luck." The Monarch says while slowly fading away.

Like that, we had gone through the second gate. Everything changed around us like the last time, but something was completely different here.

The world wasn't completely void of any color, it seemed like a normal place. But I don't believe that anything is normal about these gates, it's common logic.

This place has a gate boss, but we know nothing of its name or even what it does here.

~My My. You've entered the second gate before it could even be announced Sevarian. But, lucky for you, I know the rewards.

Second Gate:

°Rewards!!

•2 Million Experience

•System Upgrade

•700,000 Zethel

~Trust me, it's worth the rewards. These are immensely better than the last time.

A system upgrade? I've never seen that as a reward before so I wonder what that will give me. The experience will help with more points for leveling up, but I forgot that I have points to use.

I got another stat to keep track of as well so I'll have to make sure to put points into it, or else my health will not go anywhere. Shit, there's actually a lot that I need to check.

My skill trees, my spells, and I need to invest some of my points. Though, I could wait for the time being since I'm about to fight through this damn gate.

"This is different." Kallista says while checking out the surroundings.

"It is." Rika adds.

"This place isn't like the first gate?" Onyx asks while scratching his head.

"The first gate was a lot worst. a colorless world with nothing left." I answer while equipping my sword.

I won't let my guard down at all while I'm here, this place is bizarre. Unless this is all an illusion to fool us, since the gates shown were all dark too.

We'll have to figure out what enemies reside here and what the boss is capable of, unless it relies heavily on illusion magic? Since I really do believe that this is an illusion.

"I know the boss for this place, I know it." Elizabeth says while looking at everything around us.

"Who are we facing then?" I question with a bit of curiosity.

"The Keeper of Souls." Elizabeth answers with a serious tone.

The Keeper of Souls, what an interesting name for a boss.
