Practical Class

*Narrator pov*

In Professor Morpheus's Divination class at Hogwarts, the air was thick with the scent of aromatic herbs. The students sat in a circle, each with a small bundle of Artemisia vulgaris, also known as mugwort, in front of them. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as the class awaited instructions.

"Today, we shall delve deeper into the mysteries of Artemisia vulgaris divination," Professor Morpheus announced, his voice carrying a dreamy quality that matched his name. "This herb has long been associated with enhancing one's connection to the dream realm and the unseen. It is said to open the mind to visions and insights but, you already know that. So far as a class I have taught you the smoke and the paste method and today you will finally see into the future," Morpheus announced with a grin

The students exchanged curious yet ecstatic glances as they listened intently. Professor Morpheus circled the room, checking that everyone had their Artemisia vulgaris bundles ready.

Lighting the bundles with a snap of his finger the practical lesson began, "Now, take a moment to inhale the fragrance of mugwort. Let its essence transport you to a state of heightened awareness," he instructed, demonstrating by closing his eyes and taking a deep breath.

As the students followed suit, the room filled with the earthy, herbal aroma of mugwort. The subtle energy of the herb seemed to awaken their senses, and a tranquil hush settled over the class.

"Now, focus your thoughts on a question or aspect of the future you seek insight into," Professor Morpheus continued. "Let the mugwort guide your mind toward the realm of dreams and revelations."

The students closed their eyes, their minds immersed in the aromatic haze. In this shared meditation, mugwort acted as a conduit between the magical and mundane, blending the boundaries between waking reality and the ethereal realm.

Visions and symbols danced behind closed eyelids as the students explored the realms of their own subconscious. Professor Morpheus moved silently among them, occasionally offering a whispered word of guidance.

After a serene and introspective session, the students gradually opened their eyes, returning to the present. Professor Morpheus smiled, acknowledging the shared experience.

"Now while the experience is fresh in your mind quickly write down what you experienced. Make sure to include your feelings, what you felt, what you smelled, heard, and saw." Morpheus continued

He watched as the students quickly began to write down their experiences, and a small smile stretched onto his face. Morpheus's eyes narrowed ever so slightly while looking at the room, these weren't just students but carriers of information.

And he wants to see what they know.

*Morpheus pov*

During the practical divination, beforehand I made sure to set up a ward around the room causing the divination to not be strong enough to reach so far into the future that they would see things they shouldn't.

Seeing as I had quite a bit of time left I told the students to take their time with their journals and I would call them up one by one to help.

After some time I called the first student," Xenophilius," I announced softly

Xenophilius stood up and quickly made his way to the chair in front of me, "What did you see?" I asked pulling out a teacup

"I saw Pandora and I hang out just having fun then a duel happened between you and some other guy," he said with a small shrug

I nodded, I had a similar vision before but I wonder Xenophilius seems to be hiding something.

"What else?" I asked directly

"That's it," Xenophilius replied bluntly

The class continued like so, I would call a student over and help them realize what their visions could mean. Of course, for some students, I felt they were hiding something and for those students, they will have to be more careful than that.

"Narcissa," I said to my final guest

"What can I help you with, tell me about your vision," I asked simply

"My house was broken apart but not in ruins, it was one side versus another," I could see panic and fear in her eyes

Tapping her on the shoulder I muttered, "tranquillus," instantly her mind calmed down

I should contact her grandfather about this, "Are you okay Narcissa?" I asked

"Yes professor," she said her face getting red from embarrassment

I chuckled, "It's fine divination can be overwhelming for everyone, when I first started learning I messed up and got panicked a lot. Eventually, I learned panic isn't a bad thing just another tool to harness," I said while standing from my seat

"Now, we will talk to your grandfather later let me finish class," I whispered before beginning once more

Negary glided effortlessly through the inky sky, I who was borrowing Negary's senses approached the castle, navigating unseen through the labyrinth of turrets and spires. My eyes, now sharp and discerning, scanned for any sign of the Dark Lord's presence. Below, the Forbidden Forest whispered secrets, but my focus remained on the looming fortress.

Descending to the windowsills, I perched, the world unfolding before me in shades of gray and silver. In the heart of the castle, a flickering light betrayed Voldemort's clandestine gathering. My crow eyes, adapted for the night, honed in on the gathering like a silent observer.

Through the open window, muffled voices emanated. My sharp ears caught fragments of plans, whispers of dark spells, and the sycophantic murmurs of loyal followers. Voldemort, the very embodiment of malevolence, stood in the center, his serpent-like gaze surveying the room.

I huddled closer to the shadows, my avian form blending seamlessly with the night. With each beat of my wings, I maintained a discreet position, my crow eyes providing an unfiltered view of the clandestine meeting. The familiar feeling of adrenaline coursed through my veins as I bore witness to the meeting below.

I could feel the connection between Negary and I growing faint, I began to lose my senses when I heard the sentence I came here for, "My Lord, one of our spies is here,"

A small child walked through the doors, I focused all of my will on keeping the connection.

"My Lord, I tested the passage as you can see it worked," the student said

"Good, continue," Tom said with a wave of his hand

"Recently in divination class, I completed a vision, it showed us using the pass-" my connection cut

My eyes snapped open on my bed sweat formed on my temple, this particular spell was uncomfortable for both parties. It used Negary as the vessel and I as the borrower, Negary's senses became mine.

But at least I confirmed something.

Something massive, Tom you really need to step up your game.

Stretching to release the feelings of being a bird I closed my eyes and breathed deeply. I could feel the uncomfortable sensation wash away.

My mind drifted back to Xenophilius's divination, I know for a fact he didn't see something so plain. If only he wasn't a Lovegood Legilimens would be handy right about now.

Stretching my back I began to grade some papers, after all, I'm still a teacher.
