Training

*Morpheus pov*

Throughout the week I helped introduce new sense enhancements to the students, I could tell that suddenly sensing the world in a different higher degree was weird and uncomfortable for most students. Luckily, I had time to work with them and get them used to the new sensation.

As my class ended for the day Narcissa Black stayed behind, "Um professor?" she asked causing me to look up from the notes I was taking

I smiled, "Narcissa, what can I help you with?" I asked putting my quill down and interlocking my fingers

She struggled to get her words out, "Take your time," I said trying to ease her nerves

She sighed holding her head in her hands, "I'm worried professor, I know you said Grandfather, and you were working to prevent what I saw but I keep thinking about what I know," she said with some anxiousness bleeding through

She wanted me to put her worries to rest.

I nodded, "It's natural to be worried Narcissa, but let's release you from this burden what you saw will not pass. It is being handled, but that does not mean you should be complacent. Remember this feeling of worry and train, grow stronger. For without the feeling of fear, how will anyone ever exceed their limits," she smiled at my words

"I have heard you say that before professor, where is it from if I may ask?" she seemed to be off of the topic of her family's false doom

A genuine smile made its way to my lips, "A man once said those very same words to me, they helped me realize many things about myself," my reply gave nothing away

How would I explain I invented that very same phrase to incite a rebellion?

"I see, thank you, professor and my Grandfather sent a letter the other day and wished this to be passed onto you," she passed over an envelope

"Thank you, now run along and don't forget to practice. I remember you saying that your dream is to become a healer, the sense enhancement spell will be helpful with that career," I pointed out with a kind smile

"Thank you, sir," she replied with a small nod and smile before leaving my room

Opening the envelope I frowned when I read the contents, it seemed the Black family had been contacted by Tom's minions. More specifically the current Lord black and Lady Black had been contacted. Arcturus really needs to deal with those two, they are beginning to become rather annoying.

Writing a small letter I waited for Negary to fly through my window and snatch it up, my wait wasn't long as Negary swooped in and took the letter, and flew out knowing who the recipient was.

Before attending the dueling club meeting I decided to do some more research into what I would be creating to deal with my vampire problem. I had to pour over old notes of mine, no one had claimed I don't have backup plans after all.

Vladimir is a naturally shrewd person most likely he recalled his troops around the world to defend his castle. Vladimir knows me, he knows I will seek revenge, he has seen what I have done to people who tried to kill me.

His biggest mistake was thinking I didn't have a plan ready for the day he betrayed me.

I just need the materials.

After an hour or so of marking out some of the mistakes I made with my earlier plan, I packed everything away and began to head toward the dueling club.

As I walked through the halls this time I didn't spot anyone or any feline professor. Though I was a little hungry, "Jinglebell have any food for me?" I asked the empty hall as I continued my way toward the club

"Yes sir!" an elf appeared with a bowl of what seemed to be potatoes and beef

"Thanks," I said taking the bowl and digging in, "Can you send me some wine pretty soon here?" I asked thinking about how watching some practice and drinking wine would be a good end to my night

"Yes sir!" the elf saluted in a funny way and then disappeared

Love those little guys.

Finishing the bowl of food I made it to the club room in peaceful silence as I entered I saw a chair near the back with a small table and a bottle of wine next to it. A lone glass begging to be full was next to the bottle, "Thanks Jingle," I said to the air as I set the bowl down and then picked up the bottle and glass

Some students looked over at me but quickly went back to practice, after all, it's not strange for me to have a glass in my hand.

I felt someone behind me, "Ah, Albus do you want a glass?" I asked without turning

A chuckle escaped the wizard's lips, "No, and I am beginning to think you have a problem Morpheus. Think of the example you are setting," he tried to scold me?

I'm not going to hold it over him he thinks I'm young.

I laughed I couldn't help it, "Runs in the family I fear," I heard him snort, "A glass or two a day isn't a big deal," I added especially since it was hard for me to get drunk

I just like the taste.

He seemed to let it go as he pointed to the platform, "Severus versus James, who do you think will win?" I gazed at the platform and saw the two wizards standing across from each other

Oh, this duel is going to be good, "Severus, currently James doesn't know how to silently cast and Severus has that one spell,"

I turned to look at him as I heard his chuckle, "Something tells me this is going to be a rare occasion of you being wrong,"

*Narrator pov*

On the stone dueling platform, Severus Snape and James Potter exchanged a tense glance before simultaneously calling out their first incantations.

"Expelliarmus!" Snape's voice echoed as a jet of light shot from his wand towards James. Potter, quick on his feet, countered with a Repello Charm, deflecting the disarming spell.

James retaliated with a confident smirk. "Stupefy!" he declared, sending a stunning spell towards Snape. The Slytherin wizard smoothly sidestepped, responding with a Jelly-Legs Jinx.

"Repello!" James chanted, creating a shimmering barrier that deflected Snape's jinx. The air crackled with magical energy as the two young wizards continued their dance of spells and counters.

Snape sneered, "Impedimenta!" A burst of light shot toward James, who swiftly countered with a well-timed knockback Charm to evade the incoming hex.

His body rolled to the left his wand moving rapidly.

Undeterred, James shot back, "Lumos Maxima!" temporarily blinding Snape with a burst of bright light. Seizing the opportunity, he followed up with a Confusing Charm, attempting to disorient his Slytherin adversary.

Snape dodged to the left and waved his wand ready to use his own spell creation. As the words were to leave his mouth, Severus heard a faint, "Singultus," and suddenly he started to hiccup unable to say the words of his spells correctly

"Tarantallegra" was quickly heard causing Severus to dance uncontrollably

He couldn't even dodge as he was hit with a stunning spell.

Everyone was shocked not because James won but because of the spells he used.

Weren't those pranking spells?!

I'm aware most people hate James but I said I'm not going to bash him. Severus will have his victories too.
