The end of winter break

*Morpheus pov*

I gazed at the minute amount of starheart powder I collected from the Amazon rainforest. Slowly I took a fraction of the powder and mixed it into a pure water base. Stirring the water around I watched a magical sheen start to form in the water.

I hovered my hand over the water and frowned, "Somethings off," I mused jotting some notes down

Next, I took another very small portion of the powder and put it on a scale a magical scale of course. Although the crystal is rare I have had one in my possession before and ran various tests on it. After all the veil was created using several Starheart crystals as a catalyst. I honestly didn't think I would ever see one again.

The weight I noted was slightly off not so off where it was alarming just suspicious.

Taking the same powder I weighed I decided to test my theory by pulling out an angel's feather and a demon's claw. Each is preserved enough to contain their unique race's magical signature.

Unsealing both items I watched as the powder naturally drifted to the angel feather and seemed to absorb into the aura enhancing it.

I couldn't contain my surprise as I stood from my seated position. I might still be wrong but my theory is looking more and more true.

They are using the remaining magic in their realms to create starheart crystals. The particular crystal for each portal will resonate with the realm it was made In. An artificial starheart crystal made in the angel's realm will help open a portal to bring across the angels.

This was beyond daring the races were truly willing to risk it all in this final battle. I couldn't say I wasn't shocked because I was! This must have taken years upon years to create and they most likely have other plans for the artificial crystals than just the portals. After all, I know them they wouldn't put all their eggs into one basket.

The 'gods' have been rather absent I've mainly been running into angels or demons which means the 'godly' race was up to something.

Helga.

I wonder what she is doing.

Bah! Enough about her she chose her side!

Shaking my head I looked over to the rest of the powder I had, I thought for a moment before putting it away avoiding the temptation to use more.

I have someone else in mind that can find a much better use.

The rest of my night I spent trying to figure out just what I would be teaching my students this semester.

The early morning rays began to shine across Britain as witches and wizards alike prepared for their day. Kings Cross Station was a hub of activity as students flocked to board the train.

At Hogwarts, the professors began to congregate discussing their winter breaks. Morpheus sat in his seat watching the entrance to the great hall as he indulged in a healthy serving of pancakes and eggs.

"How was the rest of your winter break?" Minerva asked while taking her seat

"Uneventful just spent my time studying," I replied before taking another bite

"What were you studying?" she asked now eating her own breakfast

I smiled, "Divination and some rituals," I could see her smile strain at his words

"Those are forbidden in Britain you know?" she pointed out

I shrugged, "Wasn't studying them in Britain anyway it's a ridiculous law Britain is one of the only places that even has it,"

Minerva frowned, "Ridiculous or not it's still a law that can have you sent to Azkaban," though I could tell she agreed with the law

A sigh escaped my lips, "No it wouldn't, I can assure you of that," taking another bite I asked, "How was your winter break?"

She narrowed her eyes seeing my change of subject for what it was, "Boring," she admitted, "But the bar wasn't so bad,"

A smile blossomed on my face, "Right? The bar was fun we all need to get together and go again,"

Before Minerva could reply Albus sat in his chair, "Morpheus, Minerva! Good to see you two, excited for another semester?" he asked his hideous robe blinding my eyes

I shrugged, "I am although I'm finding it rather hard to figure out what direction to teach in, I don't know how the past professors taught tea divination for a whole year,"

The boredom from the class might have been able to awaken someone's third eye.

Albus chortled at my words, "Truly I didn't know how interesting the subject was until you took over,"

I sat in a secluded compartment with the door locked, my heart beat furiously in my chest. This winter break has been disastrous, I'm lucky to even be alive.

I can't fathom why my father still wants me to attend this school I'm obviously going to have a tough time this semester.

Looking down at my wand hand I made sure my grip was loose enough but still tight in case something happens.

I've found myself struggling with two things since the attack. sleeping and letting go of my wand.

I know it might seem foolish but I refuse to let myself be unarmed.

My father agrees with my statement he trained me all winter break since the attack. He seems like a completely different person.

And most of me is glad about it.

As I fiddled with my wand I thought about my strategy this semester. Luckily Slytherin rooms are single person unlike the other houses allowing me to set up defenses in case I get nightly visitors. Not like I will be sleeping anyway.

Attacking and attacking brutally is my strategy. If one Slytherin or any other house raises their wand at me I will try my hardest to land them in the infirmary for as long as possible.

I also want to make an ally and I realize my thinking is hypocritical seeing as I did nothing seeing him get targeted but now I realize allying myself with Severus Snape might be the best strategy.

As my thoughts stirred in my mind, the train began to slow down signaling we were close to Hogwarts and about to stop. I calmly took a deep breath in and out repeating the cycle, "I can do this," I whispered to myself in reassurance

Standing from my seat I held my wand to my side and put a hand on my compartment door, "I can do this,"

"I am a rosier,"

The train stopped and the horn sounded I heard students start to disembark I waited and waited to make sure I was the last one to leave, "And Rosiers always collect our dues," I slid the compartment door open

Hogwarts here I come.
