chapter 2: plan

Sitting on the floor in my room, papers surrounded me as I starred at them all think of what I need to do. The sound of a clock ticking in the background was all that I could hear at the time, my wallet was on the floor beside me. Picking up my wallet, I grab my cards out of it and check how much money is on them with my phone.

Seeing how my father likes to put money on my cards even when he knows I like to work for what I have, there's enough money to start a new life and live comfortably for a few year's. This is the one time I'm thankful for my father doing that, finally making a decision I go over the three choices again in my head.

1. Tell the baby daddy and risk a war between our families.

2. Tell my parents and my father thinking I betrayed him.

3. My father kills me or the enemy kills me.

Scratching off the third option, knowing he wouldn't do that but it feels like he would at this point. Standing up with my phone and cards, I pick up the papers and hide them then grab my shoes and keys, I leave my room and get in my car, crank it up then drive to the bank. The drive was quiet, the radio wasn't on and the traffic wasn't too bad, soon I pulled into parking lot, and make my way into the bank "hi, I'll be with you in a moment, please go to window number four" a woman said from behind the glass.

Walking over to window number 4, I take my cards out, social security card and my ID too "hi, how can I help you?" Another woman said as she stood at the other side of the glass window "hi, I need to open a new bank account" I said, she nodded and typed away on the computer then turned back to me with a paper "fill out this paper for basic information for the account" she placed the paper under the opening of the window. I too the paper and pen then filled out the paper and gave it back to her "then I need to put all the money on these cards into the account" I gave her the cards.

After half a hour of being in the bank, I walked out with a new bank account and card, as I sit in my car I look up nice places to live at, I came across California. Deciding, looking up available houses for rent. Thirty minutes later I find a few places for rent, setting my phone down I pull out of the parking lot, I headed to the phone store to get a new phone, another hour later I walked inside of my house and took my stuff upstairs, hiding them as well.

Looking around my room like it was the first time again, all my emotions flooded back to me. Tears pricked my eyes, then I quickly wiped them away, picking up a spare backpack that was hidden away in my closet, I put the doctor papers, my new phone, cards and other things I would need in it, leaving my old phone on my bed.

Grabbing the bag, I head to the window, knowing if I leave through the front door, I would be seen.

Opening the window letting it shut behind me, I climbed the tree down then made sure I wasn't being watched, bolted out of the yard making sure to avoid dad's body guards.

Speed walking down the street, I pull my hood up over my head to hide my face, I manage to stop a taxi and give the driver the directions to the airport. Looking out the window, I watch as my home disappeared into the distance, my uneasiness up going.

Knowing that I needed to leave, only until I give birth at that, to avoid conflict, to avoid death.

The airport soon came into view, the sun was almost set, it was a little cold outside. "It will be 30.47" the driver said when we reached the destination, digging out money from my bag I give it to him and thank him, getting out of the car, I watched the yellow car drive away. Looking at the airport, then making my way inside, did what I needed to do then walked to where the plane was boarding for California.  Taking one more look behind me, at my home, my life.

"It will be okay Marie" I said to myself, then getting on the plane, walking to my seat and putting my bag in the glove department over the seats then sits down, by the window.

"Welcome passengers, we are now departing for California, please be seated" a woman said over the speaker, sighing I put my seatbelt on as the doors to the plane shut, watching out the window as the plane started to move then took off into the air. A small smile formed on my face as the sun peaked through the clouds "we will be landing in five hours" the woman said over the speaker again.

Closing the blind to the window, I leaned my head on the headrest and close my eyes, hopefully getting some sleep.

--

I get woken up by the shaking of the plane as it is landing, blinking, I look around and open the blind again.

Once the plane stops, people start to get up and grab their things, after the elderly couple in my row leave. I grab my stuff and also exit the plane "thank you for flying with us today" the woman says before we get off. The cold air hits me like waves, it was now night-time, I walk past groups of people leaving the airport.

Luckily I managed to get a ride in a Uber to a hotel for a few days until the paperwork for the house is done. "Thanks" I said to the driver when she pulled into the hotel parking lot "have a goodnight" she said.

"You too" I replied then walked into the hotel to check in, it was silent but for the man who sat behind the desk scrolling on his phone. "Excuse me" I tapped on the bell that sat on the desk, with a sigh he looked up at me "Yes? How can I help you?".

"A room for one please" I said, my feet fidgeting a little "can I have your information for the room?" He asked, getting my credit card and ID, I give it to him and wait as he repeats the information into the computer "What's your name?" He asked  "Marie Harvey" I replied then handed me back my stuff with a room key. "Your room is 104" then turned back to his phone, as if our conversation was over.
