(General POV)
Location the border between the Nethervoid and the Blood Lands
It was currently a small battleground as another khornate invasion was happening.
A Blood Herald [check TW Warhammer 3 for a physical description] was leading a large enscourchtion into the Nethervoid, having eight hundred daemons under his command, ranging from Bloodletters to Bloodcrushers.
As they fought against the daemons serving under Mordred Deathharbinger, several hundred Knightmares, Slaughter Calvary, Darkstalkers, and a few Heralds as the two daemonic forces clashed, but these Blood Daemons weren't the same as the ones that the Carnage Legion faced years ago.
No longer were the khornate daemons, of before recently spawned and barely able to connect with the terrible power of the Immaterium, these daemons were stronger, more connected to the Warp, and the souls and skulls claimed in the name of Khorne has not only empowered, slowly restoring the Blood God, but it also made them more stronger, more fearsome, more savage, more bloodthirsty and more brutal than ever before.
The mortal soul baring races were serving the Lord of Skulls and his loyal daemonic legions.
But it also made them more daring and hungry for battle as many knightmares were being massacred by the blood daemons, as hellblades hacked, slash, impale, and decapitated knightmares, the Blood Herald has even beheaded and cleaved a Slaughter Herald and it's Apexstalker mount.
Victorious, the high daemon of Khorne kick away the corpses and claim it greatest prize, the head of the Slaughter Herald rising the skull to the air, showing it prize as it roared "Blood for the Blood God!!!! Skulls for the Skull Throne!!!!" boosting the power, and battle lust of all blood daemons under it.
They were eager to continue fighting as both sides were slaughtering each other, but it was clear that the daemons of Khorne were winning.
Especially with the laharneth daemons not being led and strengthened by their Elder Daemon master, Mordred Deathharbinger.
As Mordred was fighting the reinforcements within the Bastion Stairs, since the Blood Herald managed to gather eight different legions to attack the Nethervoid, while the other legions went on a direct assault, the Blood Herald's legion attacked from the side allowing them to enter the Nethervoid without the Ultimate Slaughterer, interfering with their slaughter in Khorne name.
While they were fighting, they felt and heard Khorne's roar calling out to the Lord of Carnage, this stopped all the fighting for some few moments.
Khorne's fury was mighty, and intimidating before the battle could re-comence another presence was rapidly approaching their location, as the Carnage daemons rejoiced and cheered, the Blood Herald immediately knew who was coming...the Chaos God of Carnage, Laharl.
The atmosphere completely changed, before the Blood Herald could organize its legions, the wind stopped blowing, and echoing of what could be considered wing flapping could be heard across the area, as the khornate daemons looked up to the maroon skies of the Nethervoid they saw the approaching figure of the Carnage God, getting closer and closer by the moment.
In a few moments, the complete figure of Laharl could be clearly seen by all, before the Blood Daemons could either attack or retreat Laharl landed, hitting the ground with great force as his largest wing covered up most of his form, while the smaller pair covered slightly his lower parts.
Laharl unfolded his wings from around his body, revealing the Chaos God kneeling on one leg, as he slowly stood up straight, standing proud and menacing as his violet eyes were focused on the Blood Herald solely.
Laharl walked slowly towards the high daemon of Khorne, his dark aura paralyzing the said daemon once Laharl stood in front of the herald, towering over the red daemon of blood, looking down as the creature like it was inferior bug, Laharl spoke, "So...the little daemon thinks it's mighty enough to come to my domain, and kill my legions?" seeing the Blood Herald coward as it let go of the Slaughter Herald's helmed head rolling up to the feet of the Dark One, he continued talking "I ask again...What is a khornate herald, doing in my Nethervoid?" focusing all his aura upon the high daemon, it was clear that the nat though it was strong enough to come into the Dark One's domain for Khorne's favor.
Laharl was irate while Khorne honored his oath like one of his noble divinities of "Honor" his daemons were amongst the more unruly among the daemons of Chaos, Tzeentch enjoys constant scheming and change so he doesn't care about controlling his daemons, Nurgle loves his daemons like his children and their devotion to the Grandfather make his daemons the most loyal and devoted, Slaanesh she is also doesn't care about her daemons letting them do as they desire because it amuses and satisfy the walking yandere/everything addict that is the Lady of Pleasure because of this neglect and Slaanesh's vindictive nature her daemons are dependent as well as fearful at her and her moods.
And lastly, with Khorne who ((doesn't care were the blood flows, as long as it flows)) let's his daemons run wild to spread rage, bloodshed, and battle as long as they are strong, bloodthirsty, and keep some honor in martial prowess and combat he favors them, but Khorne as long as no one insults or anger him.
Laharl know the nature of his siblings both from their nature and lore as a once devoted Chaos Player in 40k.
But what this little high daemon dared to do in order to appease his brother only angered the Dark Lord he would have brutally taught said daemon a painful lesson, but even now Laharl could feel his brother's anger, frustration, iratation growing while he could handle him especially now, even with Khorne having grown in power in the last years.
So Laharl ordered all his daemons to return to their posts, along with sending a psychic message to Mordred and the daemons in his command to return to the Outpost, but what the Dark One ordered under all the force of his power and aura was to the daemons of Khorne to leave or suffer his wrath.
The blood daemons, choosing to think in the first time in probably ever in 40k they listened to Laharl order/warning and all started to return to the Blood Lands, the Blood Herald in command was about to do the same when it felt the metallic cold grasp of the Dark One's claws on its head.
Unable to move, or even make a sound as the tips of the claws pierce into its head, and it felt itself being lifted from the ground as Laharl spoke, "Where do you think your going, little herald?" driving his further into the Blood Herald's skull causing it extreme pain as the Dark One spoke once more, "You claimed a skull of one of my heralds. It is only fair that I claim one as well." as slow and agonizing that Laharl could muster, he tore the high daemon's head off.
It's screams echoed, making all Bloodletters turn their attention towards their former leader as it head was dripping with crimson blood, and the Herald's neck started to slowly ter and blood gushed out the expanding wounds, as tendons, muscle, veins, and gore was slowly showing as the Carnage God was killing and claiming its life and skull.
The Blood Herald experiencing such an agonizing death, it desperately tried to flail, claw, and try to save its life.
But all attempts that the high daemon did to save itself were in vain, and after what seems to be an eternity the neck and spine finally gave way.
Snapping, tearing, ripping, and splashing blood everywhere as the red body of the Blood Herald fell lifeless on the ground, while in the Dark One's bloodied clawed gauntlet was it torn head still fresh and bleeding.
Laharl looked at the bloodletters, and bloodcrushers that witnessed his gruesome execution of their former leader, and to the Dark One's surprise, they got down on one knee, and another Herald of Khorne spoke, "A warrior keeps what he kills, Lord Laharl. May that skull be worthy of being a price to join the others you claim." in their own way, these bloodthirsty berserk daemons of Khorne were showing respect for Laharl and his deed of claiming a skull, as they all got back up on their feet and left to return to the Blood Lands.
Laharl, looking down at his price, decided to keep the skull bending the Warp slightly to banish the daemon skull, storing it away for later.
Next, his vision landed on the headless corpse of the herald, and Laharl just glanced over his left shoulder, ordering a random knightmare to get rid of the bodies of the khornate, and to provide respectful sending for their fallen, bowing its head towards Laharl as it said "Of course, at once Dark One." with that settled Laharl once again took flight and headed towards the depths of the Blood Lands, heading directly to Khorne's location on the Skull Throne.
Location the Blood Lands, the Skull Throne of Khorne
Khorne was now able to move his right arm without issue or discomfort, as seen as he rested his head on his right fist.
The Blood God waited for his brother, that he just sensed at the border between their realms but just a few moments ago, as well as sensing the gruesome death of one of his Blood Heralds, specifically the one that led the miserable invasion onto the Nethervoid.
Not that Khorne care for a nameless high daemon's death, as it bloody death served as a great boost to his power since his brother himself performed the kill in a fashion that Khorne really like as a smile was hidden under his daemonic brass helmet.
He, through his respect for his elder brother, wouldn't increase aside, seeing him as a worthy rival and future trophy as Laharl's skull will be the crowned jewel among all the skulls around the throne.
But I admire his warrior's pride and strength, but also his honor as a leader and he deserves that skull for his own, so Khorne destroyed that high daemon's essence making sure it can't reform or return he considers it a gift for his brother, for such a splendid kill.
For that reason alone, he kept his impatient, frustration, and iratation under control and waited for his brother.
As Khorne then opens his crimson blazing eyes, looking straight forward, he simply says, "It's about time, brother."
Flying before him was the Chaos God of Carnage, the Dark One, his older brother Laharl that responded, "Would have arrived sooner, but I had some important thing to deal with." with this brother once again meet, but will it turn into another brutal war or something greater for the next chapter of the Great Game.
