Chapter 7: Finding out the Truth

[Tsukuyomi's POV]

Ever since the events that happened last night, there is something bothering me about Miko.

She was always quiet and obedient since she came here, but now she is somewhat different than usual.

Although there is nothing wrong with her when there are people around, she talks to you in a calm and servile manner. Every time I ask her if there is something wrong or if there is bothering, she always answers that she is doing fine and well.

However, when she was alone and there is no one watching, something does happen. When I look at her from a far distance without her noticing, I always saw her body was trembling and she occasionally clenching and unclenching her fist as if she is ready to punch someone. But when I approached her and she noticed my presence, she stopped trembling and revert back to her usual calm self, in which I find it strange.

My first thought is that she is angry about something. When I questioned Mikoto-chan about what happened last night, she said that Miko got angry when Haruhime-chan told her about her life in the Sanjouno residence. I understand that she doesn't accept how the family treat the poor little renard. However, the anger she showed was quite excessive as if she is taking the information in a personal level to the point that she had experienced the same in the past.

I must talk to her and get to the bottom of this before her temperament gets out of hand.

[The next day, Miko's POV]

I am currently sweeping the front yard of the shrine in the early morning

Every now and then I often feel under the weather and occasionally my body trembles suddenly

The scene from the night when I talk to Haruhime-san always flashes in my mind

I tried to shake it off and it only disappears momentarily before it comes back again

Seriously, why am I acting like this?

What were those flashing images and where did it come from?

Are those my memories? Why am I remembering those in that moment?

I am so confused and disoriented

Then not long after, Kashima-san approaches me and asked me to go to Tsukuyomi-sama's room immediately

I asked then him why. He just shrugged his shoulder because kami-sama didn't say anything else.

I found it strange but I just followed the order and went back inside the shrine

When I arrived in front of Tsukoyomi-sama's room, I calm myself down and knock the door

*Knock knock*

"Who is it?"

"It's me, Miko"

"Hmm, enter"

I open the door to see that Tsukuyomi-sama is sitting in front of a coffee table with a teapot and two cups on it.

I look at Tsukuyomi-sama in the eye, her expression is somewhat serious but calm at the same time.

"um..Tsukoyo-"

"Please sit, Miko-san"

Her tone is quite serious and seems to have no time to stay idle for long

I promptly sit in seiza on the other side of the coffee table facing Tsukuyomi-sama

"Do you have any idea why I have called you here today?"

"No, I do not know, Tsukuyomi-sama"

"Ever since that night happened, I was felt something is bothering me till this day."

"That night?"

"The night where you met Haruhime-san and you talked to her about her life in her home"

When Tsukuyomi-sama said that, I whole body became stiff in an instant. Not long after, it suddenly starts to tremble. Tsukuyomi-sama didn't say anything, she just stared at me and observed my current situation.

"Hmmm, interesting. Now tell me honestly, do you remember any memories where you or someone else close to you that are being abused and hurt by someone?" I shook my head as I don't remember anything experiencing something like that.

"Is that so, then tell me why you are trembling when I say that? More importantly why did happened when you become very angry when Haruhime-san talked to you?"

"I don't know I don't know I just simply don't know" I lowered and shake my head frantically while holding it with my hands. I felt like I am going to be sick and will puke any time soon.

*Clang clang*

I snapped out of my crazed panicked state when I heard the sound of bells. I looked up and I saw Tsukuyomi-sama holding a some of kind of instrument on right hand and a wand on her left hand. The instrument has three rows of small bells that is attached to a handle. The wand on the other hand, is a stick with two zigzag papers attached on the end of it.

"Um, kami-sama, what is that?" I pointed at the two objects that she is holding

"This one is a Kagura suzu, an instrument used in rituals by shrine maidens. Other one is a Gohei, it is used to purify and exorcize negative energy. I used these to dispel those negative thoughts in your head. Here take these, use them every time you feel any negativity within you" She reach out the two objects to me and I received it from her. When I hold the two objects, I suddenly feel that my mind is at peace.

"Now that's over with, let's go back at the topic at hand" I snapped out my peaceful state and properly put down the bell and wand to my side. I then focus back to Tsuyukomi-sama.

"Now let's try to find the source of those negative thoughts. Miko, do see or hear anything in your mind during the talk with Haruhime-san? Let's say like hallucinations or whispers, something like that?" I then pondered and try to recollect the events on that night.

"I heard voices, they are two voices overlapping together and they echoed in my mind"

"Voices, huh? What did those voices say?"

".... Unforgivable"

"I see, anything else besides those voices?"

"Um let's see... I saw flashing images in my mind"

"What are images showed you?"

"Umm. I can't tell them all, they're too many"

"Just remember and describe the first image you saw"

"Okay" I tried remembering the first image that was showed that time

"It is a scene where a male renard is beating up a child and a female renard while holding a bottle of wine on his other hand. The child and the female renard are begging the male renard to stop"
